By Brandon WallaceSteelerNation.com OAKLAND, CA*–*After receiving a near $20 million contract this past offseason over the next five years, Pittsburgh Steelers‘ kicker Chris Boswell*has already missed six field goals this season, and five missed PAT’s. He ended last season with a 92.1 field goal percentage and was named to his first Pro Bowl as he […]

And being able to win games.

So basically what is wrong with him is he can't do his job proficiently- consistently.

Don't care but he should have been cut this morning.

That is a cap issue that has been discussed. but yeah you could bring in another kicker and make him inactive.

The only thing wrong with him is the dumb ***** who allow him to keep holding a roster spot. He's done, it's gotten between his ears at this point. Since kickers aren't football players, meaning all they do is kick so they have zero other ways to contribute, when they're shot you move on. Unless you're holding onto some invisible standard, obviously.

With all the money we saved losing Bell it's a bullshit excuse by all of them. They ****** up, his good run was obviously a fluke. Time to cut bait.

Lost his confidence, doesn't want to be out there, afraid to fail, etc. Kicking is tough psychologically and he's deep down in the depths right now

I'm a big Boswell fan. I thought he was great, but after missing SIX field goals and FIVE extra points in 13 games.... I am no longer a believer. He's been given plenty of time to "shake it off" especially since most of those kicks were early. But missed kicks have cost us games and I also agree bringing in guys to try out is the way to go.

He did not slip on a bad field on the last FG attempt, he strode way too lobe=g with his plant leg and was off balance. He would have missed the kick to the left, he is done. He cannot identify nor correct the technical aspect of his kicking and now he is a headcase who would cost 4.8 million against the cap next year if we cut him. Never pay huge bucks to a kicker, they are not long term solutions with the exception of someone like Vineteri.

He might be one of those guys who lets the pressure and expectations get into his head after he gets paid a nice contract. There's certainly nothing wrong with him physically and he was fine mentally before the contract.

What’s wrong with him? The obvious is he’s kicking everything wide right.

The not so obvious is that he’s being protected because he signed a big contract and the Steelers don’t wan to admit he’s been **** all season long and should have been cut a long time ago. He has ONE job and this far he’s been horribly bad at it this season and has cost this team games.

The huge 4.8 million he would count against the cap next year is another reason the Steelers won't cut the guy.

He would be 4.8 million in dead money but isn't that prorated over the life of the contract? 1.2 million per year. So in essence if they can nurse him to the end of the year, I'd be telling him he got injured if he wants another chance. Then bring him into camp with a legit competition kicker. If I see that ball moving right, you're cut.

The question should be posed, I suggest, as the following:

"Which sucks more??"

Not if we cut him before the season is over. He would have to be a post June1 cut to be able to prorate the signing bonus.

Who else is out there? I don't know what the deal is, but kickers have been **** across the league this year, except for a few.

He was hurt early in the year, maybe he tried to change the way he kicked to compensate for it and now can't seem to correct back, but isn't that part of the special team's coach job to help him figure this **** out. I don't buy into the whole he lost it ****, he was one of the best in the league last year; right up to when he got hurt.

Got Steve Blass/Skippy Reed disease.
