Should we fire sale this team?

I’d be okay with trading the talent we have (yes including Ben and AB) to desperate losing franchises in an effort to stockpile draft picks to build this team.

Let Tomlin flounder with crap talent until he is fired, carefully hire the next head man and within a year or two the team is humming again without too much pain in between.

Btw I am not suggesting this because I’m unhappy with the talent. Rather because we’ll never win anything with this core, because of this coach, and this coach will only be fired if he doesn’t have the talent to overcome his shittiness.

Only JuJu is untouchable

Fire sale three coaches is the approach that should be done. The new head in charge will figure out who stays and goes. I imagine it wouldn't be as many players as you might think.

I understand the frustrations within the fans but how many fire the "COACH" threads do we need.

If the head coach was fired along with special teams and defensive CORDINATOR (who gets to have JOEY follow him out) would do just fine. As slash said, some of the players would be let go but this "core" would thrive under new management. Someone outside the organization and young enough to handle the "TREND" of the NFL.

No. And I'm still not buying into the whole "fire Tomlin" thing either. But Keith Butler has got to go. And if the new guy wants to build with new personnel, on the sidelines and on the field, then fine. I would only see the Dline group, Watt and Hilton as your keepers.

we need to do something very un Steeler like, Fire Tomlin. Hire rex Ryan. let him fix the defense aand not touch the offense. keep him till Ben retires. then look for that long term young dude you cab hire for the next 20 years as head coach.

we gotta get something out of bend last few years

All of them. Until he's gone. He's absolutely terrible, and it's been obvious for years. He should be ****-canned right now. I'm disappointed I didn't wake up to the good news this morning.

Since no one is holding Tomlin's feet to the fire, I'm fine with Rex coming on board.

Exactly! What makes anyone think by trading away the likes of Ben, AB that they would draft the right players and Cool Shades wouldn’t hose that up if they did. The guy can’t do the job and it’s becoming more obvious as the seasons keep getting wasted with Ben.

Rex is a douchebag. He can't keep a job because he's the defensive equivalent to Haley. Hard pass.

I'd take Gregg Williams in a ******* heartbeat though. It's only a matter of time before Cleveland resets with a new HC and they bring their own coordinators, clearing house.

Everyone is complaining about the coaches, but fail to articulately explain the scheme failures on this D. The Steelers have no answer for the spread/empty set on D. The problem isn't running LBs on WRs, that's a byproduct of the defense called. It's a zone defense, and every team in the league runs it. Problem is, our ILBs are slower than the rest of the league's, they don't get proper depth, they don't make plays on the football. Timmons wasn't much faster than the LBs we have now, but he could drop, scan, and make plays on the football. This is the way the zone defense works with competent defenders.

The problem is this team, LBs, CBs, and Safties are all watching the QB, and get moved all over the field because of it. When you have a younger D, you have to preach fundamentals. Keep your eyes on the receiver, and you are never beaten by a double move. Keep your eyes on the routes, and as a safety, you will see where the openings are. If you're watching the receiver, you will always be close to the play. It will lead to better click and close opportunities for big hits, and ball calls, will help defenders look for the ball when it's in the air.

That is the problem with the defense. Not just: it sucks, or they can't do anything. The problem is schematic, and they need to change their scheme.

Not buying into "this whole 'fire tomlin' thing"? You've gotta br ******** me. Are you blind?

hahahaha

The Rooney Rule Rooneys would never in a million years fire their hand picked black head coach

In fact it wouldn't surprise me if they brought in Colin Kaepernick when Ben retires

Truthfully, if the team traded Ben and Brown and Watt and Haden for picks, Tomlin would use them on 8 new receivers.

Assuming this thread is serious, NO, I dont fire sale the team, In my opinion we only have three players with real value that good bring multiple picks and//or all pro caliber players in a trade

AB
JuJu
Watt (Maybe)

And if they dump Ben I am done unless its to the Chiefs for Mahomes lol

Yes, lets fire the guy that is running Tomlin's defense instead of the guy insisting that we run this defensive scheme. Eventually the leader bears responsibility and accountability for his subordinates.

Since no one is holding Tomlin's feet to the fire...

Really? How do you know that? Art Jr. will log onto this board to announce what he's going to do?

Come on. I can promise you that when the season is over, there'll be significant changes.

Will Tomlin be fired? If they miss the playoffs, maybe. We can only wait and see.

I dont think some of you fully understand the salary cap etc. There are some NFL trades. Often when a team has a huge need or someone picks the bones of a team taking a problem child off their hands. My understanding is that all the guaranteed money acelorates to the trade year. At least that is the way it was. So trading all those guys just wont happen.
Whole lot easier to fire all coaches and get new eyes there. They have talent. Just poorly used.

I 100% agree, Which is why a new DC is needed as far as the defensive scheme goes.

And they should be changing the scheme game to game, and in game when the other team is exploiting something.

And neither coach is capable of that.

We need someone who can be capable.

So trade pro bowlers to try and draft pro bowlers?

So, we want a front office who has whiffed on some terrible first round picks to have more? Over known commodities? No ******* thanks on these *** hats being here when the rebuild happens. Other than the WR scouts the rest of them can kick rocks.

I agree it sounds silly on its face, but we've had this group together for years and we all agree that the front office won't make a move on Tomlin. This team is built to "win now" and we're not going to win now. Of course if they make a move on Tomlin then this point is moot. But it's just depressing to me to know that the roster is loaded with talent and a "win now" roster and we're barely .500 and scraping for a playoff spot. I just want to have some hope. Bleh

Not really seeing they are built to win now. They plugged holes with mediocre talent, cheap talent. That is not going all in it to win now.

If anything they are still a draft for the future team, that isn't drafting too well for the future.
