Senate Confirms Trump Energy Pick Who Said Renewable Energy 'Screws Up' Grid

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate has confirmed President Donald Trump’s nominee for a federal energy board, despite a video that shows the nominee saying that renewable energy “screws up” the nation’s electrical grid.

The Senate has approved Bernard McNamee’s nomination to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on a 50-49 party-line vote.

McNamee now heads the Energy Department’s Office of Policy and worked on a stalled effort to bail out struggling coal and nuclear plants.

In the video, McNamee says fossil fuels and nuclear energy “keep the lights on” and that renewable energy such as wind and solar power “screws up … the physics of the grid” providing the nation’s electricity.

Of course not. The vicious, mean-spirited attacks against the Obamas and Clintons - in the middle of President Bush's funeral - are perfectly civilized, acceptable behavior.

Furthermore, it is completely unacceptable to criticize Trump for his demeanor during the ceremony, including showing up late, casually tossing his jacket to a military valet, hardly acknowledging the former Presidents and First Ladies, sitting with his arms folded like a pouting child, refusing to join the congregration in prayer and hymns or in reciting the Apostoles' Creed (which any self-proclaimed Christian would do, without hesitation). All of this is off limits. All the while the crudest, most vulgar comments about Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton are perfectly okay.

I'm starting to understand the innerworkings of the mind of a Trump supporter. I call that progress.

oh, pumpkincakes. you were triggered because President Trump didnt read the Apostle's Creed. You were absolutely looking for something to be pissed off about during President Bush's funeral. Somehow, you found it. Or it was relayed to you via your favored Facebook groups of like-minded people. That goddamn ******* didn't read the Apostle's Creed. THAT *******! That unhinged you. That's all it took.

You seriously need to seek some sort of psychiatric help.

Yeah, being the son of a Protestant minister who grew up in the church, I did notice that as I was watching the funeral service online. So yes, that pissed me off, along with his otherwise childish behavior. If it wasn't for all the evangelical support and Trump's own proclamations of faith, I wouldn't give two ***** if he recited the Apostles' Creed or not. It was strange and unexpected, that out of the Carters, the Clintons, the Obamas and an entire congregation it was Trump & Melania who stood solemnly, arms to their sides, almost as if they held out in protest. Bizarre, given Trump's Presbyterian, supposedly. He would be more than familiar with this type of communal prayer during a church service or a funeral.

But at the end of the day, that didn't take away from a beautiful and touching ceremony remembering President George HW Bush.

You seriously need to seek some sort of psychiatric help.
You know what? **** you. How's that for psychiatric help? You guys sure have thin skin around here. You love to dole out abuse and attack all the 'libtards' - the whole two or three of them - but break into tiny pieces like china dolls when someone dares criticize your beloved Trump. Precious and fragile like a china doll, that describes most if not all Trump supporters who post here. Handle with care, they're sensitive souls who can't stand a sliver of criticism. Eerily, just like the big boss, TV reality show producer, hotel magnate, avid golfer, bankrupter-at-large, the one and only slick Donny Trump.

My brother and I were discussing this the other day.. We're both kind of "independent" if you will. Not down the line repub or dem. When it comes to the issues, I'm all over the board with how I side with things. However, we think both sides are guilty of behaving the same way, they accuse each other.
Both sides believe whole heartedly that they are on the side of righteousness. Both think they other side is evil or just ****** in the head. Both sides point and act offended by every little hiccup from the other. Both D and R brush aside and forgive their leaders' wrong doings and bad management, for things for which they would roast the other side.
Personally, I think liberalism is a mental disease for the most part. But I think it is going to win out in the end and finish off this Country once and for all. It's more than half way there. Even if Trump is as great as you all think, At best, he has 6 more years, then its back to the same old downward **** show we've been watching all our lives.

You mix it up, give and take, as above -- well, except when things dont go your way and move back under your rock. I am inclined to expect you will have another episode soon, go into self exile (4th or 5th time?) for a holiday month or two, then return with a ramping vengeance.
Dude you need to chill. Go pet your cats and spend time with your family.

Make up your ******* minds.

On the one hand I'm being told to leave, take a break, get lost. No biggie, you've grown weary of my posts, my '******' attitude, my non-stop criticism of Trump.

When I do leave sometimes for weeks or months on end, due to work and life, I'm deemed a '***** running scared', 'hiding under a rock', 'quivering behind a fence' because things 'aren't going my way'.

It's like reverse Stockholm syndrome. I'm being held captive by a friggin' message board and growing accustomed to my captors. By golly, I'll make sure to check in from time to time. Would hate for Confluence to heave himself off the top of an office building. I'll do my best to post at regular intervals, to make sure our biological clocks are in sync. Confluence can check-off the date and time in his My Little Pony notebook, as far as when Tibs is logging on this messageboard. Yikes.

This board provides more humor than most anything else I come across, on an average day. That's not bad for a pro football message board. Thanks for all the entertainment. No doubt this is why I keep coming back, it's like hanging out at a Greyhound bus stop at 2 am. What a unique collection of bright, stable minds and soothing personalities.

Go Steelers!

Yup, sure thing, you come across as an independant, middle-of-the-road kind of guy.

Given that much of the Western world, including most of its art, culture, economics, religion and politics have been heavily inflluenced by liberal thoughts & concepts, when you write 'liberalism is a mental disease' it gives me pause and a healthy amount of consternation. Sure we can go back and forth on current political issues, but if you truly believe that, the intellectual and cultural gulf between us is much wider than you may anticipate.

I am. Ask me what I think about some issues and you'll be surprised that I side with you on a few.

Ok, let's play:

1. Do you think the Mueller special counsel investigation is legitimate?
2. Do you support women's right of choice regarding abortion, ie Roe vs. Wade?
3. Do you agree the Iraqi war was a mistake, that Bush was overly hasty in attacking Iraq after 9-11? When in fact it was Bin Laden and Al Queda who attacked us?
4. Do you support some - even relatively limited - provisions on gun laws? In other words, within the framework of the Constitution and the 2nd amendment, is there room to limit modern, rapid-fire weapons, high capacity magazines or is the 2nd amendment a blank check till the end of time, that gun ownership can never be infringed upon, never ever?
5. Do you generally support NATO and the Western Alliance? Is it important to you the US holds a trusted, leadership role in world affairs?
6. Is the national debt of any concern to you?
7. Do you believe our elected officials - be they mayors, councilmen, school board members, local, state and national representatives - should be forthcoming and tell the truth? If they are not, and are shown to be clearly lying and deceiving their constituents, should they be removed from office?
8. Do you believe the Obama birther conspiracy, that Obama is not - and never was - a legitimate US citizen? Do you think President Obama is/was a Muslim?
9. On that note, do you believe Muslims - cough, all 1.5 billion of them around the globe - are all hellbent on destroying the world and pose a clear and present danger to western culture and society?
10. Do you consider yourself a xenophobe? Does xenophobia - the strange instinct to immediately be dismissive and suspicious of unfamiliar cultures and people - trouble you? Do you consider yourself to be open-minded and engaging towards strangers from other countries, different faiths and cultural backgrounds?
11. Do you think America's strength is the sum of it's parts, the rich, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic mix of its population?
12. Do pro-Trump posters on this board make your skin crawl on occasion? Or is it just me?

Booted, you asked for some questions, I provided a few off the top of my head. Feel free to answer at your discretion. The fact we're even having this conversation is probably a good thing, in my book.

Says the guy that posts 42 messages a day hating Trump. Hell, I opposed Obama's being. But I never devolved to the level of derangement you've displayed since 2016 - despite your therapeutic breaks and disappearances.

Good...Lord.

Not to mention the physical distance. Me, living in America and all.
So ******* what. You guys are so consumed by the singular issue of who lives where. So much navel gazing....gets you nowhere. There are tens of thousands of Americans living and working across the globe. Get over yourselves, those of you who are so caught up with geography.

Or better yet, petition Justin to cut off all international access to the site. Who the **** wants to hear from others, from those living elsewhere?

Again, you walk yourself backwards right into the minefield you yourself laid out, one landmine at a time. According to you I'm too busy hiding behind 'a fence' petting my cats, ducking down beneath a rock somewhere cause I'm so intimidated and blinded by the 'shining star on the Hill' called Donald Trump.

My opinion of you hasn't changed one bit over the years, Timothy. You're a ******* *****. A fragile, wounded soul.

But that doesn't mean we can't be friends. I'm always open to meeting new and, uhm, different people. Expand the proverbial horizons, if you will. I'm sure I can learn a lot from you when it comes to virtue signaling, panic attacks, xenophobia and cutting corners when discussing current events & politics. As is the case with most of the Trump base, you are a prime example of the race to the bottom that the Trump presidency has become.

But I won't hold it against you. Deep down inside I think you're probably a halfway decent guy, Timothy.

Sell that to Buff.
I want to watch.

Tibsy,

You used to be a decent guy.
Then Trump became a candidate, you started to get goofy, he won the election, you went full retard, went to your safe place, came back a bit less cockeyed, spiralled downward again, back to the safe place....lather, rinse, repeat.....lather, rinse, repeat and now you are about to do the same again.

You will go off the deep end, full of vitriol and blind Trump supporter rage/lust....and then you will go away, again.

After a few days, someone will opine that you are gone, many will say "good", and one or two will lament missing your "batshit crazy" entertainment value. No one, including Trog or 21, will say they miss your posts, your insight, etc.

No one will know if you got bored, institutionalized, banned, locked into a month long orgy with a transgender Thai hooker or simply stopped being employed to spew your **** here.

And then maybe you will be back.

or

not

I agree.
I think Tibs is a decent guy, generally. I also sense a change in him. The bullshit left wing media has his nuts in a vice. He is drinking, and pouring, the Koolaid.
Too bad.

Sorry to have to repeat myself, it's like speaking to a 90-year old, or a five-year old child in diapers. Confluence, get yourself some tissues and hand lotion and do what you need to do behind closed doors. Your homoerotic infatuation is becoming too much to bear.

If I wanted some strange Canadian to be all up inside my ******* morning, noon and night, I'd book the next flight to Vancouver or Toronto and schedule a visit with a proctologist, hopefully one that spoke some English. And I'd expect that French-Canadian doctor to be a lot less intrusive, as far as my ******* is concerned, than you've been here on this board.

My God, when does it end? How many times and in how many ways do I have to tell you to **** off? What a dripping, whiny vagina you are. Shouldn't you be out shoveling snow? Or filling up the bird feed? Make yourself useful, you never know how much time you've got left. Make the most of it.

Tibs seems to have a preference for French Canadians. That one surprised me. Moving on......

At this rate I might as well start spending my weekends in close quarters with my mother-in-law, given the amount of pocket psychologists we have on the board.

Gasp..."I sense a change'.

Nope, nothing's changed for a progressive, liberal-minded, long-time poster walking into a hornet's nest weeks, months and years on end visiting SN. It's a game of Battleship, each and every thread. The only difference is we have Trump, a wildly unqualified President who in time will be proven to have taken the country into a precipice.

Honestly, the first posts I noticed when I logged on this morning were yours....since all you can do is post memes and videos..

Really? All I do is post memes and videos? Not sure what qualified you to become a mod besides some hush-hush agreement to look the other way, but that's no business of mine. Over the years I've probably typed out more posts and responses than 90% of the members on this board. A whole lot of respect that's gotten me. Evidently 15+ years means jack ****, here and on the old Steelerwatch board.

And you're gonna take pot shots at me? Because I'm a liberal, a progressive? Understood. Anyone who opposes Trump is fair game. Open season, here at SN.

Had to come back and quote this. The most prime example of your hypocrisy and cheap, worthless moral relativism. You basically ***** yourself out on this board, since you consistantly choose to ignore the endless amounts of rude, vulgar and insulting posts by others. They fly right by your ear, day by day. Yet like some divorced, lonely MILF in a bathrobe with fake eyelashes and sagging ****, you peek through the curtains and come barking the second I or any other 'libtard' brings up a point of contention, uses cuss words or simply tells people off.

The moral high ground you've perched on is built on loose footing. You're a fraud who can't be taken seriously. If you applied your so-called code of ethics and morals equally across the board, you'd be constantly calling out the right-wing Trump fanboys who insult, provoke, lie and slander, basically non-stop. But you never do. You save your best for the tiny minority here who dare raise their voice against this belligerent President.

In other words, you're as partisan and intellectually and morally corrupt as a small town cop who gets a kickback from the meth dealers hanging out in strip mall parking lots.

But keep on preaching brother, from your pulpit built of sand. Evidently, it keeps you in good standing with the delusional Trump base, which seems to be all you're interested in.

I'll play....Answers in red

Ok, let's play:

1. Do you think the Mueller special counsel investigation is legitimate? No I don't. I think it is a bunch of nonsense started by a bunch of people who can't take losing. Do I think Trump is guilty of some sort of crime? Probably. The guy is a businessman, so I am sure he has bent some rules and greased some palms and done some **** under the table. Is that what this investigation is supposed to be about? No. You don't appoint special counsel to search for a crime.
2. Do you support women's right of choice regarding abortion, ie Roe vs. Wade?I am not sure. In certain instances, abortion is a viable choice. I am opposed as a means of birth control. While we are on the subject, Roe v. Wade isn't even a law. It is a court decision. If it is so damn popular, make it law. Truth is, it isn't popular, that's why such a law has never come to pass.
3. Do you agree the Iraqi war was a mistake, that Bush was overly hasty in attacking Iraq after 9-11? When in fact it was Bin Laden and Al Queda who attacked us?I think all war is a mistake, but let's be honest. Intelligence agencies from around the world were pointing the finger at Iraq, and it wasn't just Bush supporting those assessments.
4. Do you support some - even relatively limited - provisions on gun laws? In other words, within the framework of the Constitution and the 2nd amendment, is there room to limit modern, rapid-fire weapons, high capacity magazines or is the 2nd amendment a blank check till the end of time, that gun ownership can never be infringed upon, never ever?No I do not. See, unlike healthcare, abortion, housing and all the other nonsense thrown around as rights, 2A actually is a right. Written in plain English. Simple to understand. What we are witnessing is incrementalism when it comes to 2A. There are enough restrictions already. The truth of it is, the only people that are affected by that bullshit are the people least likely to commit crimes.
5. Do you generally support NATO and the Western Alliance? Is it important to you the US holds a trusted, leadership role in world affairs? I do support NATO insofar as it should be a partnership. We shouldn't be providing their defense on the backs of the American taxpayer so they can prop up their welfare states with the savings. That isn't a partnership. As far as leadership roles in world affairs, I would say yes and no. I am of the opinion that it is time we start taking care of our own problems, and there are many. We can still play a role, even lead when necessary, but time has come to get our own back yard cleaned up.
6. Is the national debt of any concern to you?The national debt is of concern to most Americans. I think where you get confused is that it is apparently of no concern to our politicians, regardless of party. I think if you read what I write on this board, I am tired of all the BS spending. Overspending your budget is overspending, regardless of the amount. As it is, we basically pay the interest. Our nation is like a 19 year old with a credit card. At $22 trillion, it isn't getting paid off or paid down when politicians are running on more government funded programs. And the more you tax, the less the people have, and for what? More debt. It's like a circular firing squad.
7. Do you believe our elected officials - be they mayors, councilmen, school board members, local, state and national representatives - should be forthcoming and tell the truth? If they are not, and are shown to be clearly lying and deceiving their constituents, should they be removed from office?Yes they should. Sadly, none do. Oh, we all believe the ones we agree with. Doesn't make it true. And if we are going to remove the liars from office, very few people, if any, will be represented in this country because they will have no representation thanks to the liar law. It's just as well, considering most people in America aren't represented now anyway.
8. Do you believe the Obama birther conspiracy, that Obama is not - and never was - a legitimate US citizen? Do you think President Obama is/was a Muslim? No on the birther thing, not sure if he is a muslim. To that point, I'm not even sure I care.
9. On that note, do you believe Muslims - cough, all 1.5 billion of them around the globe - are all hellbent on destroying the world and pose a clear and present danger to western culture and society?
No, I don't think they are hellbent on destroying the world, but I do thing they are a danger to western culture and society. If muslims came to America and assimilated into society, that's one thing. But what they do is come to the west, and try to recreate where they came from. There are places in America and Europe that the police won't go due to the danger presented. Hell, muslims living in America and Europe have openly demanded to be allowed to practice sharia law. Sharia law is in direct conflict with western culture and values. And the more the west bends over and lets them do this **** little by little, western culture disappears little by little.
No, I'm not a xenophobe. I have traveled the world and have experienced many rich cultures and enjoyed them all.
11. Do you think America's strength is the sum of it's parts, the rich, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic mix of its population? Well, it used to be, when we are all just called Americans. Nowadays, everyone is herded into their own little group, properly labeled and encouraged to be offended by all of the other groups. We spend so much time having our differences pointed out and being told why that should anger us. How could we ever be one again?
12. Do pro-Trump posters on this board make your skin crawl on occasion? Or is it just me?

Booted, you asked for some questions, I provided a few off the top of my head. Feel free to answer at your discretion. The fact we're even having this conversation is probably a good thing, in my book.
