Coach's anal cyst

I say you keep Washington active moving forward. Your ******* vets need to make plays. Positive that is. Not these ******* TO's. Washington will be part of our future. Keep giving some reps. As far as our run/pass ratio. I think Ben's finger might have something to do with that. One more thing. Our defense needs to start creating some TO's themselves. Seems like they are on a 5 plus year drought.

I read something the other day that said where they are ranked in turnovers nobody has either went or won a SB. Something to that effect. (My memory is cloudy for specifics)

so Mike Tomlin obviously they need to improve in that area....

That's great, I'll invite Tomlin to my wife's next book club meeting. I don't think anyone cares if he's read 1 book or 10,000. I just want him to be a good coach.

I don't care if he's read books, gets his toenails painted, dresses up like a leprechaun or has a stamp collection. Just coach well.

This will due.

One day, I'd like a press pass after a game to ask Tomlin questions.

Hey Coach Tomlin, why pass it on 1st and goal, when you have a timeout and want to spend some clock time late in the fourth quarter? Wouldn't a run with James Conner lead by Nix have been a better call given the circumstance? Those fade routes are tough to complete.

On 2nd down and goal why throw it short over the middle where the defenders are packed in? That cost Seattle the Super Bowl and your predecessor an AFC championship game.

Te’s don’t open up the D, they need to back off safeties... they need a speed deep threat...

Also our TE position had an injury and fumble that game...

The fumbling TE is in concussion protocol.

In his interview he addresses that topic about turn overs and not getting turn overs and how that needs to be reversed and like quick. HOPE they emphasize that heavily and start the turn around process Sunday night.

If you're going to condemn the coaches for a blocked field goal and losing 3 points, don't you also need to credit those same coaches for the successful fake field goal and adding 4 points?

It’s about having your team prepared and being aware that this is a tendency from your opponent. That block was not the first blocked kick this season. The player that actually blocked the kick has done it throughout this season and it’s up to the coaches to be aware of things like this from watching game film of the Broncos ST.
They were unprepared and as a result kick blocked.

I hope the players don't forget to tackle while trying to strip the ball.

and Cooch, anybody can question decisions after the fact.

Tomlin called himself a bookworm and a bibliophile. It was news when he was hired. You wonder where his lexicon comes from? Reading.

His lexicon makes him sound like someone trying to sound smart.... Obviously. I have no idea how much he reads. Just like nobody knows how much Belicheat reads or any other coach. I would guess they do more film study on other teams than they do reading Shakespeare.

And nobody ever won a SB as 6th seed on the road for every game....until it was done.

Fingers crossed.

2nd down was a run to the left...

Coach Chaz was very well read and spoke of it as well. Then again he was always a renaissance man.

Just heard on the Colin Cowherd show Ben is the 3rd worst QB in the red zone this year behind only Blake Bortles and Case Keenum.

How is that possible if we are 2nd in TD percentage in the red zone (unless that stat is no longer true).

Do guys that can't catch, really, stretch the field? We have the players we have and we should adjust our line-up and offense accordingly.

A deep threat is nice, but you don't need speed to get open, even deep. We had lots of guys open last week.

Colin is one of the best sports analysts in the USA. He has vision and his opinions are worth something.

Yes, he was well read but I have no idea about any other coach at that time. My guess is that 99.9% of other football fans don't know that about him. Just like we don't know about their coaches. Same applies today.

I understand that the field goal was blocked. Yes, the blocking scheme should have been better prepared. Not arguing that point you keep making.

By the same token, however, that very same coaching unit obviously evidently did watch game some film of the Broncos ST, and were prepared to exploit a tendency from their opponent by executing a fake field goal to perfection to a wide open receiver. As a result, the game was tied at the half instead of the Steelers trailing by 4 points.

Once again, my question was, shouldn't you also give them credit for that?

Once again, it’s not about assigning credit for this play and not assigning credit for that play. It’s about recognizing your opponents tendencies which in this case was their knack for blocking kicks. Coaches have to make sure their team is as prepared as they possibly can. These blocked kicks had been on film made by the same player and I’m saying that’s part of preparations provided from your coach.
Look, one of the biggest issues with this team is inconsistency which breeds from not being prepared. Something as basic as a FG block may have been the difference in this game.
That fake FG was not put in for the Broncos. That play has been in the playbook from day one to be used at coach’s discretion.

What was MT response when he was asked about the blocked FG? “Go ask Al Riveron”. IIRC. He’s already been fined for calling out officials. Hes not going to do something to get fined again. He’s been on record saying he thought that it was a penalty. As have Harbaugh on the same type of play, by the same player. He’s not going to publicly mouth off about it. The league offices may have heard a bunch than any media member has.

He was foolish for doing the first time. Ref's can be biased for those who speak up against them. The Steelers seem to be on the short end of the stick more often than not.

Its impossible to prove, but I think Tomlin's mouth made his team a more visible target.
