In hindsight I am a dumbass

Always and I mean always wait till the fat lady sings before you throw it in. Especially with a guy like Ben who exploited a tired Jags defense in the fourth quarter going outside with short intermediate passes. Ben and Fitchner adjusted and it worked.

I thought Ben looked scared/rushed the whole game. he made PLENTY of bad throws/reads, but the receivers should have caught at least 2, that were there.

Game should not have been close, if ben were on

I don't think it would be bad to sub in Dobbs here and there. Maybe like for that QB sneak in the first quarter. I'm no expert though.

We use to do the same thing with Slash. We did have Neil Odonnel though.

Dobbs isn't slash.

And in a winnable game you try not to take additional risks.

That was noticeable to me as well. Villy was abused most of the game. Feiler had his hands full as well. Ben WAS rushed some but he was antsy back there when he didn't have to be. Holy ****, he's human after all.

That game was looking really bleak. Can't believe some of the throws he made on those last two drives. I mean I know it's Ben and you never count him out, but it's like he just flipped a switch. I'm glad for Conner Ben got the TD, I could tell he was sick from that drop, and rightfully so.

I never completely understood the whole, go down with the ship mentality when talking about not pulling QBs. People have off days, and I don't see how a coach sitting a QB to let him pull himself together is anything more than that...giving a reality check and a moment to get composed. It happens in every sector of life...except for the NFL QB position. Don't even have to pull for the whole game (though I'm admittedly lost on the rule right now. Didn't it used to be once a QB was pulled they had to stay out?)

Obviously Ben gives us the best chance to win, but Dobbs on a good day is better than Ben on his worst. Fortunately for us the result was good today.

When we are winning in the fourth I expect the worse.. when we are losing i hold on hope for the best... and thats why im an idiot who isgonna have a heart attack one of these games lol

The idea that Josh Dobbs would have a better chance at a late game comeback then Ben Roethlisberger is ludicrous. Not sure how many more times Ben will have to prove himself to some people.

It's an emotional game, sometimes we say things before completely thinking them through. I'd be curious how many 4th quarter comebacks Ben has now though and where he's at on the all-time list, it has to be up there.

If you can't vent or talk about the game in here what's the point of even being here? Him playing bad led me to think he might need a break. Sitting him doesn't mean he's done, maybe a drive to sit out and let him see from the sidelines, or try to get a spark would have worked? We can't win anything without Ben, everybody knows that. A win is a win, even an improbable one like today.

Just moved into a tie for 5th all-time

Manning - 43
Brady - 35
Unitas - 34
Marino - 33
Roethlisberger, Brees, Elway - 31

Nice info Pap, thanks. And I just thought of a nice new nickname for Bungals fans if Ben ever loses a tooth in a game.

The problem is that if Dobbs comes in and gives up a fumble or int. then what do you do? 3 points and the game is over. You going to put Ben back into a situation where he can't win. You dance with who brought you unless he gets hurt. Ben is our Brady or Elway. You going to pull them? Then why do some want Ben to sit? He's a HOF QB who can bring a team back.

Yes, if they were playing that bad I would for one series. None of us know what Dobbs would do for one series. At that point Ben was as bad as any QB you could trot out there, anyone watching the game saw how bad he was playing the first half and change. I don't see Brady or anyone else any different than I see Ben. He got right and played damn good the last ten minutes. I'm a fan, I get wound up watching the games and what I'm thinking, I type. No more, no less. I'm wrong a lot, **** happens.

Actually, he would have to lose a "toe" not a tooth. :towel2:

I guess we are spoiled. We have actually seen a guy come in off the bench who has barely played a down and light the world on fire. A couple of times. Some of us might forget that’s the exception, not the norm.

I know, Toothlisberger just sounds better (well, for trolls) and is a little more likely. :becky:

What's funny is Ben may have the record (memory may be a little rusty on this) for QB rating for a guy coming in off the bench when he came in for an injured Landry Jones against the Browns a couple seasons ago.

Doesn't matter what Dobbs might be able to do. We KNOW what Ben can do. You don't play with mights over knowns.

I think what it is, throughout the years watching Ben we all know how bad he can be, and most of the time when he starts bad he usually finishes bad. Im almost certain most coach's wouldve pulled thier QB the way Ben struggled by the 4th quarter and especially after his last INT mid 4th quarter.. even Brady was pulled mid 4th quarter the Patriots last game. But kudos to Ben and kudos to Tomlin for hanging in there with him. He's undoubtedly earned my trust again. Way to hang in there, we'll need wins like this in big games later.
