Apparently she's being considered for the head coaching job of the Cleveland Browns.

I'm LMAO @ the thought of having her coach the Clowns! PLEASE LET IT HAPPEN!

Browns hire Dorsey, finally draft a solid QB prospect No. 1 overall, fire the joke they had at head coach. It finally looked like they wanted to be looked at seriously and then this comes out. Would love to see this interview and how she would devise a scheme to stop Ben and Brown.

Suzy Kolber would be a better coaching hire if they really want to be stupid, at least she knows football and has experience around the game................ it's like they're trying to live up to being known as the clowns

First, by all accounts, Rice is very astute regarding football.

However....I wonder if they want to talk with her not about actually coaching the team, but on any input she might have on whom they might look it.

A head coach needs to be able to make good in game decisions. Not sure someone with no NFL coaching experience could make the necessary football adjustments, when needed.

Then that's the story they should have put out. I could have bought bringing her in as a consultant or a member of the front office. I could get if they wanted to hire her as a coaching intern or special assistant, for sure. That's not the information that was reported, it was head coach. I'd be ticked if the Steelers wanted to do this type of move, but they don't. Instead, I'm intrigued and would love the Browns to hire her.

I think they want to pick her brain, not put her on the sideline.

Saying they want "to talk to her about the coaching position" is not the same as "talk to her about the coaching postion."

It can be taken either way.

I don’t think that is true at all... an officer in the military doesn’t need to be in combat to be in charge... HC is a strategic position that is filled by ex players with limited strategic abilities or training

That's not what Schefter wrote about...and apparently Dorsey also already shot down the report.

She wanted to be commissioner of the NFL

The lady is razor sharp. Not sure what she knows about football. It would be historic news and odds say she would do a little better than the last coach.

I say make it happen!

Never get the military comparisons. Two very different monsters. With two different sets of responsibilities. Not even sure that success in one of those areas, would translate to the other.

Per Schefter I’m sure he’ll report Bell resigns with Steelers next week too

Her Dad was a HS coach

My love of football started with my father. Daddy was a high school football coach who loved the game. He had wanted me to be his "All-American linebacker," and had I been a son instead of a daughter, I think I might have done it. But instead, he taught his little girl to be a student of the game.

Every week, we'd race to the store to get Street & Smith's Pro Football Report. We would watch the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturdays, and the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

This is a complete joke. There is no way that even the hapless Browns and their joke of an ownership is even that stupid to hire Condy Rice as head coach. Oh I forgot, her dad was a coach and she’s a big fan. That works! Geez!

Careful with what you say about Condy; she has the connections to make you disappear. Forever.

Unfortunately i have to listen to Browns sports radio all week, and all i hear is that they want a coach that is 40 or younger.

I can't believe anybody is buying this nonsense.

At what point does Adam Schefter care about the fact that he is supposed to be a journalist. Like if the owner, the gm say directly to his face we are considering Rice as a coaching candidate and he says are you sure you want me to report that. Ok. Anything less than that no ****** way. A position in the organization. Sure. Coach. Are you ****** insane. That's like saying I'm gonna have this car salesman operate on a human being.

Exactly. Schefter used to be the guy in NFL reporting. Then ESPN shoved a pile of money at him and he became a clickbait hack like the rest of 'em.

This is commentary about the ridiculousness of the story. Not about Rice. This isn't her doing. I actually have a lot of respect for her. But IF her father was a varsity high school coach and she was a football junkie and extremely observant. She MIGHT be able to come coach my bantam (gr. 8, 9) team. And that is probably still a stretch. I've been coaching non stop usually spring and fall for 5 plus years and I finally feel like I understand all the parts that come together as a whole and could jump into any individual drill session at any position and do a capable job. I helped with elite players in the spring and they were coached by experienced varsity high school coaches and post secondary coaches. I pretty much STFU and listened for 7 weeks. Every year I get a dad that is a football fan and wants to help. I make him an assistant to a position coach. He throws out some cliches here and there. Holds the shields and bags in some drills. Throws some footballs to the receivers and DBs. I find this story to be very disrespectful to the 1000s of high school coaches who will never progress beyond that level but forgot more last week about the game than the Sunday fan.
