Seems like everytime the Steelers make a FA splash there is a reason. Morgan Burnett out again.
Though to be fair he is only hurting the salary cap situation. As opposed to Mike Mitchell who hurt the actual outcome of games.

There was zero splash in free agency this year. Both moves were stopgaps, not improvements

Morgan Burnett $2.4M cap hit
John Bostic $1.5M cap hit

Not starter money for either position for vets. These are just guys. It's why I was expecting the youth to start over them at both positions.

But you're right, we seem to pick up a sweatpants model every year, don't we?

With a little more money in the pocket next year, I would like one or two upgrades, and not just stop gaps...

You are right that is much lower money than I would have thought because most people including myself were quite excited about the signing. Friday night Wisers and coke added up last night and I was a little light on the fact check.

Prolly could have won a couple more championships with Ben if they would have just signed a couple of good key free agents. Being tight isn’t always right.

Rooneys just love the bargain DVD bin. They just picked up a copy of "Glitter," "Gigli," "Showgirls," and "From Justin to Kelly."

So you ask, "Does anyone ever buy DVDs any more?" The Rooneys do.

You can only do so much with the cap room you have. I'd say maybe more like some questionable in house extensions at the expense of bringing in other people. But at the same time they had big money to pay on their corps of main players.

No they could have freed up money. They did it quickly when they wanted Haden.

No they stick to their blueprint, without adjusting.

Regardless that excuse won't apply next year, so we'll see.

Rooneys purposely let the cap get eaten up so they have excuse to not pay bigger signing bonuses. It's been that way forever.

There is a reason that the STEELERS Franchise is the MOST winningest team (since merger) in the NFL. Their system seems to keep us near or top contender year in and year out. Unlike s certain CHEATING franchise, the STEELERS do it right. So, yea there are some down falls but also some UPLIFTS as to the way the STEELERS handle their cap / player space. I'll still take this over the other 30 other choices as the CHEATRIOTS don't count.

And Sask, they did get value with those pickups. Cheap vets that can play when put into action. And I prefer this year to paying someone $5M a year who is red hot garbage. Very little risk this year, and next year they will have a glut of cap space to utilize on much better players. Thanks to Bell, we have an extra $5M in cap space when he comes back!

Man Peeples, the lack of understanding of the salary cap from this statement is palpable.

I don't have an hour to teach it to you, nor would you grasp it if I did...

With what? Monopoly money ?

You think keeping your 5 OL (2 or 3 are probowlers), Ben, AB, heyward and haden is cheap? Tuitt is pretty expensive too

Cope is right. His lack of understanding salary cap principles is laughable.

Signing bonuses and salary bonuses are routinely given to Steelers players with multi year contracts. It replaces the guaranteed contract strategy.
