Ask Drunk Cope 10/9

If you want to ship me a case of iron city beer, I might post a bit less. Otherwise I'll probably post more.

Cope. what works best in a hip flask these days?

What are the chances Oakland is 2-14 or worse?

I used to go with sweeter drinks in the flask, but now I prefer Rum or Whiskey on cold games.

If you're at a wedding, the only choice for a flask is peppermint schnapps. It's clear, gets you ripped, and you smell like you just rinsed with mouthwash!

Oakland is a dumpster fire with a has been coach. Trading Mack was beyond dumb. They could win as much as 3, but I'd be comfortable betting the under.

If the Steelers dump Bell before they sign him do they lose the compensatory pick in the 2020 draft?

Yes. If they release Bell BEFORE he is signed, they get all of his tag money back, but Bell is immediately a free agent. He doesn't need to clear waivers and can sign with anyone for whatever he and his agents can get. No compensation.

Stratocaster or Les Paul?

Depends. I'm a big Fender guy, but I prefer the mellow full bodied sound of the Telecaster, and play a Jag/Stang as my lead. It's a blend of their Mustang and Jaguar that Kurt Cobain designed. Floating bridge. Smooth wide neck, I love it and it sings in my hands.

But holding me to a Strat or a Les Paul:

Strats I love the playability, good action, but the neck seems thin to me. I prefer the Les Paul's sound and wider neck, but they weigh a ton. Very hard on the shoulder. So for just playing around I'd go Les Paul, If I'm playing an hour or longer, Strat all the way.

No and yes I will answer for him. We would get credit for him but we are net negative and would not receive a pick regardless and it would be a 2019 as was reported somewhere. Cope do you concur?

No we don't get compensation if we release before accepting his tag offer. He doesn't count as a rostered loss because he wasn't rostered this year, so he wouldn't factor into our compensation.

PFT was trying to say the Steelers wouldn't get a comp if Bell became a FA next year, saying their nets in and out would nullify, but the formula isn't net players gained to loss. It's value of the players gained to lost. So losing Mitchell wouldn't factor because no one gave him a contract, but losing Hubbard, who is now earning $7M a season is the value they have to count against.

Cope after Sunday's game are you convinced Ron Burgundy is Pittsburgh Dad?

Ron Burgandy is a gentleman and a scholar. Loved hanging with that guy! Man he's got a perfect Pittsburgh accent though. He knows his stuff, loves the game, and is very well rounded and knowledgable in a lot of different topics. Next time we're hangin out over scotches Ron!

Option 1

Did the Pittsburgh term "Jagoff" derive from the Jacksonville Jaguars or did its origins pre-date that team's inception?

Jagoff way predates the Jaguars. I think the Jaguars started in the 90s. There's been Jagoffs in the 80s. Pittsburgh natives can add their input as well. I'd love to hear from yinz!

If a bear ***** in the woods and nobody is around, does it still smell? Should we make bear febreze to hang in locations in the woods so the bears don't become too self conscious?

Funny question!

In reality it comes down to perception. Questions like this tend to overvalue the human perspective. To think something doesn't exist without human experience is myopic and narcissistic. Plenty of things exist without our perception. So yes. Bear **** would still stink just as much.

Though Bears evolved from dogs, and dogs like rolling around in ****, so bears probably don't mind the odor as much as humans would...

Hey Slash. Both are good songs. If we're going production value for videos, Option 1 all the way. We're going for the song I like better? Greta all the way! That song rips!

If we're talking about hit factor, Option 1 angel all day, though Greta's energy has her very close...

We've reached the end of the first hour, and I've moved on to Maui Brewing with their new Lilikoi Saison.

I used the jagoff terminolgy as a kid in the late 70's and early 80,s. Now that I'm actually in jagoff land it's for the teal wannabe Steelers. Jagoffs.

Not gonna lie I think of the Jaguars also when I hear the term Jagoff. I was bent when they got awarded the expansion team over Baltimore in the early 90s. So yea, they are definitely Jagoffs!

Paulaner Heffe-Weissbier or Blue Moon Belgian White?

Paulaner Heffe-Weissbier or Blue Moon Belgian White?

The Paulaner Heffe is one of my all time favorite traditional German Heffes. Always a Pauliner. Though I'll take Blue Moon over any other conventional domestic, always. And I'm a big fan of their flavored moons. The Mango and Peach this summer killed it. Have a great Honey, and their Horchatta is unique.

What are you all enjoying this evening?

Just back from the gym. Yuengling and a peanut butter sammich on whole wheat.

RB can be scary smart, especially when he's with someone who's on equal footing. Thanks man, will hook you up with McLaughin Distillery and Wigle Whiskey next time.

We said jagoff when I was a kid in the 70's. The term IS in the book "About Three Bricks Shy Of A Load" by Roy Blount (no relation to Mel) about the 1973 Steelers season although in the book it is spelled "jagov".

Cope, good tidings your way. It is considered fact that water freezes at 32deg. It would also be fact that it takes lower temperature to freeze moving water. I live very near a fast moving river and it is ONLY one of 5 in the world that freeze from the bottom up due to temperature conditions and fast moving water.

My QUESTION is I live nearly 2000 miles from PITTSBURGH and my truck gets a little over 15mils to the gallon. How much money $$$$$ in gasoline do I need to get there and back, using regional gasoline average prices????

(did you see what I did there)

nice, I'm a big Paulaner Heffe fan too, wherever I find it that's my choice. I agree with what you say, the Blue Moon beats any other regular beer

Also I have to say, I love Shop n Save. I went last year and found a 50 shirt and the combined sports logo shirt for 5 bucks each. This past weekend I got an IC shirt and a Made in Pittsburgh shirt. Love that place.

Why does getting drunk make you sentimental for a place that both enables and profits from your god awful fashion sense?

There’s a reason they’re only $5.

I've never heard of a river freezing from the bottom up. Fish have to get out of there!

simple math dictates 15mi/gallon is 2000 miles divided by 15 to yield 133.3 gallons of gas. Averages are right around $3 a gallon, so I'd estimate $400 in gas to get to Pit. If you do the math there and back is $800. So I'd rent an economy car and get twice the mileage and get down and back for $400. Weekly rentals are about $200, so you save money by renting a car in this situation.

Are you Justin hunter's gay lover?

I wish, he likes big buts...

Nah, I just love his potential. He's big, fast, highpoints, and has great hands. Want to know why he didn't get going? Ben and his elbow. It's not like Washington is doing much better, but Wash has a higher ceiling and can play some special teams. Not playing any special teams keeps Hunter inactive. With DHB hurt, he is even more important. If JuJu, Wash, or Brown goes down, you have a starter capable backup ready to go. That's why you keep him on the roster.
