About time. Our pass rush was there, the special teams came up big.

Conner was fantastic, forget Bell.

I liked Forts play. IMO he and Bostic played well together and quite honestly I feel he was better than Williams. Especially dropping back into coverage.

Fort has more heart than most.

Nice to see a defense show up.

Same here. In the game day thread, I asked is this defense better off with out Williams. Fort is a decent coverage guy, and as we can see good on the blitz and around the ball.

I wanted rookie Matt Thomas to be that guy, but if Fort keeps playing like this, he should stay in.

It was nice to see Heyward rebound, and Watt might have played his best game since his rookie debut.

Tuitt remains hidden most of the time and the DB's in coverage were aided by Matt Ryan being off on many passes with receivers open....I'll take it.

Speaking of DB's this was Edmunds best game, he made a key tackle or two.

The key is the pass rush played to its potential.

Still need to clean up LBers being left 1v1 with WRs but loved the aggressive defensive play calls. Matty Ice never really got comfortable and that's how you beat most QBs in the league. Keep it up. The rush 3 and drop everyone back in coverage rarely works.

The pressure was key, but there's a noticeable difference in the coverage when both Haden and Hilton a playing.

Burns and Sutton really get exposed when one of those two are out.

100% correct. Haden is our only solid man to man guy on the outside, Hilton very good in the slot. Burns and Sutton are easy targets when the pass rush does not get there.

I agree with pressure being key. The problem is the Falcons' o-line looked bad and we got quick pressure. When we don't, and we play against large o-lines we get horribly exposed.

There was something going on that wasn’t there. Communication. It appeared to be more obvious that Bostic did a better job than Williams at settling the defense.

it was an impressive defensive performance against a stacked offense. Pressure / blitzing was definitely the key. hopefully they don't forget that moving forward

Muuuuuch better. Small thing. Bostic really needs to look at his stance. He is all bowed up and wide. When he has to cover the TE or slot is on top of him before he moves.

PS very good coverage. Several of instances of blitz being picked up an Watt or someone else hunting him down.

The defense was impressive against an excellent offense. Haden shut down Jones pretty much the entire game and Atlanta's ground game was nonexistent.

I've been a Berry critic, but this was arguably his best game as a Steeler.

Sask, that’s the actual technique they teach for MLB. With a solid base the player (supposedly) can make quick direction changes and motor to the point of attack. Watch Jack Ham and Mike Singletary highlights and notice their square stance. Lambert too. Although Lambert also pumped his legs in place before the snap as well on occasion.

I think Williams is too much of a coverage liability.

With him out is it a coincidence they had their best D performance of the year ?

I would like to see more of Bostic/Fort next week to make sure what I observed isn’t just a one week wonder. If they play solid next week then Butler/Tomlin need to find away to keep that duo on the field. Might not quite be Farrior and Foote; but they could be the next best thing inside. Matakevich did ok once he settled down.

Davis did a nice job up top. Another solid week.

Funny how the defense and special teams both had their best games in years without the awful Vince Williams and the extremely mediocre DHB, yet these two stiffs are kept year after year and we wasted a new extension for Williams at 6 million per when he wouldn't start for anther team in the league.

I coach defense. I'm watching the game right now. You bend at the knee and have hands on holsters. He is so stiff looking and wide based you can't run like that. Like I said on the TD the reciever is on him before he even gets out of his stance.

I'll second that

Kinda thought that was a misread on the slant to Sanu. Bostic shouldn’t be the guy to cover on that play. I think Ryan audible out the play when he saw the fire blitz on his right side. Sometimes you got to give props the other team.

Sure enjoyed some solid tackling. Only saw a couple misses.

He can tackle for sure. Not even saying he is bad or anything. Just think his stance is not conducive to coverage.
