One reason: It reminds me that this team is not well run; it's basically dysfunctional and nothing is being done to fix it. Shame on you Rooney. I know you dodge
accountability, but that doesn't make you innocent.

And if you are a student of human body language, you'd know that no one really respects the coaching staff, and that is FAIL from the get go. No one seems to
care what Butler or J Peezy has to say. How CAN that possibly create a successful D with that going on? It can't. The Butler hire is FAIL.

Supe, it's the power struggle of Tomlin undermining w/Joey and the power structure is faulted. Butler needs to go but I think one more step up and some of the underlings as well. Midseason you have a point, Butler gone as scapegoat but the big picture is still not fixed.

2018 NFL Bold Predictions: Steelers' defense will be the catalyst for a Super Bowl run

Usually, the Steelers only go as far as Big Ben takes them; that may be changing in 2018.

Keith Butler replaced LeBeau as defensive coordinator in 2015 and a scheme change, along with an infusion of youth, saw the group get faster and more athletic.

The unit ranked 11th in Butler's first two seasons at the helm and improved to 9th in 2017. On the surface, it's hard to argue the defense will be better this season

Defensive ends Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt are dominant, disruptive and nearly unblockable

T.J. Watt and Bud Dupree are among the most athletic outside linebackers in the NFL

The secondary, which ranked 7th in 2017, should be even better. Former second-round pick Sean Davis has been moved from strong safety to free safety, the Steelers signed former Packers safety Morgan Burnett, and the team drafted another safety, Terrell Edmunds out of Virginia Tech.

Edmunds was a controversial selection, partly because he didn't play inside linebacker, but also because the mock-draft cognoscenti didn't have him on their collective radars. So when his name was called with the 28th overall pick, the social-media meltdowns ensued. Edmunds fits the prototype of a Mike Tomlin defender

The common wisdom is that the Steelers will only go as far as Big Ben takes them but it might be more accurate to say that Pittsburgh's defense, which is one of the youngest units in the league, could be the catalyst to another title run.

Most of the things have been mentioned on this board one time or another. So the article is somewhat regurgitating what many have said.

Lot of things could be tried. But we have a very stubborn coaching staff.

If you want to fix the Steelers, fire Butler today. After the season replace the rest of them.

There is no easy fix until you replace the habitual fail.

Oh keep losing the way they have and it will get done. Only thing being stubborn will get you is fired.

Nothing less than throwing the kitchen sink at them should be the gameplan on defense. They obviously look like a hammered turd with that Mickey mouse cupcake **** they're running now.
Yeah it may give up a few big plays,but it will also produce results in turnovers,sacks,fumbles,incompletions. Everyone and their mama is having a field day with the **** show it is now

1-2-1 is the main statistic as far as I'm concerned. We are now in must win situations the next two weeks and can ill afford tendencies like excessive penalties, lack of preparation both offensively and defensively, lack of adjustments, poor third down efficiency, coming out flat, and for the love of God please do not rush only two DL. Otherwise we're going to be out of this thing by the end of the month.
