Polish president proposes permanent US base called 'Fort Trump'

President Trump's name appears on dozens of buildings worldwide, but if the leader of Poland has his way, properties like Trump Tower and Trump International Hotel may soon be joined by a conspicuously named military installation: Fort Trump.

Speaking with Trump and reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, Poland's president, Andrzej Duda, told Trump that he'd like the U.S. to create a permanent military base with that name in Poland -- and that Poland would pay more than $2 billion for the project.

Duda emphasized that his country was "willing to make a very major contribution to the United States to come in and have a presence in Poland."

Trump said he would consider the proposal.

Facing Russia's increased military activity in the region, Poland has been pressing for the 3,000 U.S. troops now deployed in Poland on a temporary, rotating basis to be upgraded to a larger, permanent presence

I'll just drop this here.

Hispanics flourishing in Trump economy

President Trump's economy is the rising tide that is lifting all boats. This is especially true for Hispanics, who were among the biggest victims of the low-growth, high-regulation economy under President Obama.

Last week, the Census Bureau announced new household income numbers, which showed that median income for Hispanic households grew by 3.7 percent, adjusted for inflation, last year. That’s more than double the increase seen by all households. More Hispanics moved into the upper-income brackets, and fewer remained in the lower ones. That’s welcome news as the nation celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month.

Contrast this to the Obama economy. It took until 2015 for Hispanic household incomes to finally get back to their 2006 levels. For the population as a whole, household incomes remained flat between 2010 and 2014, as President Obama rolled out one job-killing policy after the next.

In addition to rising incomes, there are more job opportunities than ever today for Hispanics. This month, the Labor Department announced that the Hispanic unemployment rate remained at a record low — below 5 percent for the fifth consecutive month. This is less than half the unemployment rate that Hispanics faced as recently as President Obama’s second term. Median weekly earnings for full-time Hispanic employees have grown by 4.3 percent, adjusted for inflation, over the past two years.

So why are Hispanics doing so well under the Trump economy?

President Trump’s pro-growth policies have had a disproportionately positive impact on Hispanics because they are more entrepreneurial than the general population. Hispanics start businesses at a faster rate than any other ethnic group. Since 2007, the number of Latino-owned businesses has grown by nearly 50 percent, nearly double the rate of all other ethnic groups combined. By a far higher margin than the general public, Hispanics believe that you can get ahead by hard work, according to Pew polling.

President Trump’s deregulation and pro-business policies have made it far easier to be entrepreneurial. Exhibit A are the tax cuts that took effect this year. They contain numerous provisions that specifically help entrepreneurs. These include a new 20 percent small business tax deduction that allow entrepreneurs to protect one-fifth of their earnings from taxes, funds that can be used to help their businesses survive and thrive. Most small businesses describe this provision as a “game changer,” according to a recent Bank of America survey.

With Trump unleashing the economy’s animal spirits, entrepreneurs — led by Hispanics — are increasing the long-depressed small business start-up rate. These businesses are more likely to provide good job opportunities to Hispanic job seekers. In fact, one survey shows they plan to hire workers at twice the rate of their non-Hispanic counterparts.

Hispanics also have benefited generally from the growing economy. For example, the number of full-time jobs is rapidly increasing at the expense of part-time jobs. This has helped Hispanics, who also disproportionately work in the service sector, to raise their incomes to a middle-class level because they are able to work more hours.

Given this success, it’s no surprise that Hispanic approval of President Trump is rising. According to a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll this summer, Trump’s approval among Hispanics jumped by 10 percentage points in one month.

President Trump and Republicans can build on this support by continuing to focus on a uniting pro-growth, pro-opportunity message. Like most Americans, Hispanics care about the economy, education and jobs. Republicans shouldn’t get swayed by the siren song of pursuing divisive social issues that may drive up turnout in rural areas but will repel Hispanics and independents in the suburbs where voters will decide control of the House of Representatives.

Electoral success will allow Trump to continue his policy agenda that is delivering historic economic benefits to Hispanics and all Americans.

Thank you, Mr President. You are doing a fine job.
You are taking back the Judiciary. You are reversing the Obammy comedy act. You are nixing the trade deals that hurt American workers. My 401k thanks you. Build the Wall!!!!

That's all.

President Trump's economy rules.

The numbers: The number of Americans who applied for unemployment benefits in mid-September fell to a fresh 49-year low, more proof that a growing labor shortage and surging economy have given workers greater job security.

Initial jobless claims, a rough proxy for layoffs, fell by 3,000 to 201,000 in the seven days ended Sept. 15. That’s below the 208,000 MarketWatch forecast and marks the lowest level since Nov. 12, 1969.

Winning!

The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit its first record high since January on Thursday as gains in Apple and a decrease in trade fears lifted the 30-stock index.

The Dow rose 203 points as Boeing, Caterpillar and Apple outperformed. The S&P 500 also rose 0.6 percent to an all-time high, its first since late August, as materials and tech outperformed.

President Donald Trump touted the S&P 500's record in a tweet, saying "Congrats USA!"

WINNING cannot be emphasized enough with this news.

FORTY NINE year low.

Elfie isn’t here to give you all the smackdown spin against all this... maybe 21 can stop by and shed some light on the lib talking points today...

One thing worries me though. Complacency of the American Voter on the Conservative/Republican side when things are going well. They forget to vote for some reason. They better show up this year or else we'll be rolling back all the wins in a big hurry. Compared to when this happened to Bush though, I do not see Trump putting his signature on too many asinine Dem bills that cross his desk.

oh dear, still sucking up to trolls?

If Republican voters aren't pissed off enough over the Kavanaugh surprise to get out and vote, then they deserve to lose.

President Trump definitely seemed to have more wind in his sails last night in Vegas. Good stuff.

You have a god point there. Maybe they should draw it out to late October so it is fresh in the casual voter's minds. Watching the antics of their base should be a good reminder to get out and vote

"He later gave the food to the white child he shamelessly hugged as an obvious photo op, while his own child, Barron, is suffering at home from a lack of affection from his father!"

When I read all the criticisms from that hug, I realized there's just absolutely no help in the world for some of these sick people.

Statement by President Donald J. Trump on H.R. 5895 | The White House

Today, I have signed into law H.R. 5895, the “Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, 2019” (the “Act”).

Two provisions of the bill (Division C, sections 113 and 129) purport to require that the Congress receive a notification or certification before the President may direct certain military actions. I reiterate the longstanding understanding of the executive branch that these types of provisions encompass only actions for which such advance notification or certification is feasible and consistent with the President’s exclusive constitutional authorities as Commander in Chief.

Numerous provisions of the bill (including, for example, Division A, section 101(a)(3)–(5), section 201(a)(3)–(7), and section 301(e); and Division C, sections 132, 201, 202, 218, 225, 229, 230, 231, 248, and 252) purport to condition the authority of the Executive to spend or reallocate funds on the approval of congressional committees. These provisions are impermissible forms of congressional aggrandizement in the execution of the laws other than by enactment of statutes. My Administration will notify the relevant committees before taking the specified actions and will accord the recommendations of such committees all appropriate and serious consideration, but it will not treat spending decisions as dependent on the approval of congressional committees.

DONALD J. TRUMP

What a joke. I prefer a President who doesn't get laughed in his face by world leaders. This is what happens when Trump tries to spew his bullshit to a real audience, not his usual MAGA, rah rah pep rallies.

What an embarrassing low point for America.
