Lots of Positives

Eh, I cant get past being +3 in turnovers and only winning by 3. I think this is very much a .500 team.

Another positive was shade tree

Big Dan saw a decent number on snaps and while he won't show in the stat sheet he was getting push allowing others to pressure while he was commanding the double team and sometimes shading the passing lane as well. I'll have to rewatch but it seemed our D was mostly effective while he was in there. Maybe our new DL coach is molding that large lump of clay into a rotational player.

If he gets cranking it will allow a far better DL rotation and possibly a fresher Heyward/Tuitt down the stretch run of games when they usually appear gassed. It would be amazing if he could command enough snaps to eliminate a good % of the 2 DL plays, that's probably asking way too much though.

Ben was ridiculously good in the first half.

Big Dan was reason Bud got the pick six. He pushed the center or guard right back to the QB in the end zone and pressured him into making that crappy throw.

Edmunds seemed like a head scratcher of a 1st rd pick but his interception and return was nice. He's making progress and while maybe he'll not ever be all pro, he's proving to potentially be an all around good player. Good nose for the ball.

Nice break from the constant negativity.

Yep that was 1 of the 9 plays he was in there.

Mostly positive D when he was in other than they moved the sticks with Watt trying to cover Howard behind him (bad mismatch there).

In terms of hockey he seemed to be a plus player on his limited snaps and was consistent in getting solid push, hopefully he keeps improving because we need all hands on deck with our D.

burns reminds me of a nother former late 1st rnd pick same problems
good vs the run but constantly beat on double moves he looks like Chad Scott from 1999-2003

That’s my biggest gripe as well - it’s always just “tackle the catch”...rarely looking back to locate the ball for either pass breakup/interception.

CBs need to turn and locate the ball, they were in good position on a few of those and never turned to find the ball.

Only allowable for the day after first win of the season, all sunshine and lollipops....

Great that Connor got to salt away the victory with an over 10 yard run vs a run D to allow victory formation
Great to see Washington on the field and contributing to the sticks moving
Vance, nuff said...that was bad ***
Great that Ben still healthy after starting Finnet/Feiler for our 2 best linemen
Great that Bostic rebounded from an early bonehead penalty for a solid game
Great that Dupree was not over running the QB drop running out of every play, instead he made plays!!!
Great to see Haden back on the field
Great to see Berry actually pin them deep a couple times, had a nice impact
Great to see my favorite play....victory formation
Great to see some turnovers!

bud got good pressure bostic missed 1 easy sack he blew by the ol and whiffed a easy 6-8 yard loss prior to the Evans TD

People seem to be focusing on the defense giving up points late but there are way more positives.

I don’t care if they gave up some late drives. This defense was a lot better than last week. The Bucs have lots of weapons. They don’t have the RB, but they have 3 big play WRs and 2 TEs that are matchup problems. They have a pretty good OL too and Fitzpatrick is still on a hot streak.

it still needs to get better but we saw far fewer blown assignments. Guys actually made some plays because there was less confusion and they were able to react instead of think.

You also have to remember that much of the Bucs late game success was after Hilton left the game.

The offense was mostly great and that is with Decastro and Gilbert injured. The protection was mostly good against a team with some good pass rushers.

Ben is still not in sync with AB and his deep ball is a bit off but you saw the rust coming off. The offense should have had 34 points which is damn good when they aren’t even fully clicking yet.

The defense was mostly good vs the browns. The Chiefs was a debacle but they git pointed back in the right direct vs the Bucs. The Chiefs and Bucs may be the 2 most dangerous teams the steelers face all year and they got them early.

The main thing may be that they have finally acknowledged their own drama and seem to actually be trying to put it behind them, not just with the usual lip service.

Beat the Ravens and the steelers may be in first place, hopefully with all the bullshit behind them.

7 points were scored on Dupree's pick-six, so no, the offense should not have had 34 points. In fact, the Steelers were shut out in the second half (along with AB, who registered zero catches) against a horrendous Tampa defense. Mostly great? In the first half? Yes. Overall? No.

The defense was slightly better because they incorporated the blitz, and were able to cause some turnovers. Still, there's so many holes -- they gave up over 450 yards of offense. They were +3 in turnovers, and they won the game by just 3 points...not a great sign.

I'd say the defense was "mostly good" against Tyrod Taylor, which isn't saying much. He put 18 points on the board against a porous Saints defense, and 0 against the Jets in almost a full half. The Steelers don't get a tie if stupid Hue Jackson starts his best quarterback.

They're lucky to be 1-1-1.

Their major problem is that Burns has lost all confidence much like Boswell but they have nothing behind him. You have to try people. Try Allen or Sutton. Burns is crying in his soup and lost his game. You need a diamond in the rough. The secondary is terrible.

Is it possible to put Burns in single man assignment every game? Would he be better with just one assignment? Is doing that even possible with our schemes and personnel?

I suspect lots of teams will give up huge yards to the Bucks this year- including the defending SB champs and the Saints before us. Not an excuse, we did look pretty lame. But the Bucks are a tough offense to stop right now.

I'm not saying this team has it all figured out and is headed to the super bowl, but there was a big improvement from week 2 to week 3. It seems they have gotten a hold on the locker room issues and the defensive coaches simplified and put the players in position to make plays.

There's still mistakes, but look around the league. There's a lot of bad football played in the NFL in the first few weeks because nobody is playing in preseason and padded practices are limited. The result is that the first 3 to 4 weeks are like preseason now.

The defense had to face 2 of the best offenses in the league in these first few games. Nobody has come close to stopping the Chiefs yet. Defenses are way behind now and a record number of points have been scored.

Don't evaluate a team in a vacuum. Look at where you stand compared to the competition.

I still think the steelers win the division. The chiefs have come out hot before and then fade away as defenses get better down the stretch. The steelers are a work in progress like every other team.

Bostic was much better. Edmunds will improve as the season progresses. Dupree is starting to show signs of life. McCullors is actually making plays now and not just being a speed bump that gives Hargrave a breather.

The effort was off the chain its was sperates the Steelers from the rest. A lot is expected from these guys in Pittsburgh a lot more than other cities for sure. I thought they responded with lot of effort both to correct many of the problems on the field but also off it. Great effort all around no doubt. Are the problems solve? Time will tell go steeeeellllerrrsss!!!!!

Positive: Artie Burns was eclipsed as our worst DB by Coty Sensabaugh. He got bitched all night.

Rams and Vikes are 2 of the best defense in the NFL and they both just marched up and down the field on each other. Don't freak out yet about the steeler defense. The only defense that look good so far are the ones that have played ****** offenses.
