I was curious so I had to look. Honestly I'm a little surprised. I thought he would land somewhere. I can tell you watching Kizer tonight, I'd rather have Jones. If Ben gets the 3 week hurt, I'd have him on speed dial.
Ridiculous. You never take a franchise QB out of a game to get a spark. Ben had a rough day, sure but that is mainly because of the weather, getting hit a lot, and (the biggest reason) because he didn't practice enough in pre-season games. That is on Tomlin. Ben and any QB must play at least a few series in 2 or even 3 pre-season games to get close to speed and to get in sync with his receivers.
And, no way do I bring Jones back. Seriously, WTF! Jones wasn't very good so give Dobbs or even Rudolph a chance if something happens to Ben. Because, if Ben goes down for any length of time, our season is over anyway.

I agree but I'm beginning to worry about Ben dropping back to pass the way I used to worry about Mark Malone dropping back to pass. The next game will tell us whether his skill set has fallen off the cliff.
If Ben gets hurt for three or four weeks you may see what sucks really looks like. Anyone see what happened when Roger's was out last night. Zero. Nada. Nothing.
There are always situations that go beyond who is better when making a roster. I highly doubt Dobbs actually beat out Jones. However, when you factor in that Dobbs has upside and might be better than Rudolph while in all likelihood Jones is gone after this season. Dobbs got the nod.
So you are measuring a better performance based upon 6 point passer rating in the pre season. Jones barely played. I like Dobbs. I really do. But if we need him for more than two games you will almost certainly be begging to have Jones back. With the caveat that Ben will return and they are still in the hunt. If Ben is out for the Season or the season is done I'd rather see Dobbs or Rudolph.106 passer rating - compared to 112 preseason passer rating for Dobbs. I don't doubt Dobbs beat him out.
As he showed that upside in actual preseason game performances.
One thing to know there is upside, another to actually log that upside statistically.
I agree on the first paragraph. That weather could have caused Dobbs fits too. And Ben has to shake the rust off. Yanking him wouldn't have helped accomplish that.
And disagree on the second.Landry or Laundry as some love to call him. If a injury came about you still have to replace the loss. Rudolph isn't ready This year. So you would need a QB to back up Dobbs short term.

His win loss performance tells me he could win an easy game and they would be competitive vs. A good to great opponent.
I hope we don't have to find out. All I'm gonna say. I don't have a problem with their choice and if they don't lose Brn for 3-4 games I think it was absolutely right. But if he does I got Landry Jones on speed dial and I cut a player who gets diactivated. I don't want a guy who hasn't taken a regular season snap. Sorry.
Maybe because he sucks
Of course he ******* sucks!
I'd get Dobbs ready just in case, U never know with Ben holding the ball all day looking for a smothered AB to get open
This team is doomed without Bell, they lost 80% of their offense and they are just now facing how bad their hand picked weak soft defense is going to be.
