Le’Veon Bell Drawing Harsh Criticism from Teammates

And I would wager this is exactly what Bell wants...dissension with the Steelers so they will toss their hands up, pull the tag, and make make him UFA so he can start negotiating his big munnies. Think about who he has learned from...Blount and Harrison. Precedence is set, just be a baby and the team cuts you loose.

I'm just pissed I let the guy who darfted Bell in my fantasy league pick him up as a FA the next day. Damn I could have made his team obsolete!! As far as my feelings on Bell the guy acts like a nine year old and the longer this goes on the more **** is going to be thrown his way and the more little LeVeon (stupid ******* name btw) gets his feelings hurt and let's his ego do the talking. He's not coming back for a while now that his teammates have spoken. And when he does come back he will be ineffective. Personally if I were the Steelers I'd do an intervention and have his best friends on the team along with management come to his home and say we want you and we need you please sign right here and right now and if he can't sign because he's that much of a child then walk out the door and say when you do come back we are going to give you five ******* carries a game in the most difficult situations so you look like **** and your value goes down. So fogoe ten million and look like an average back when you come back or be a man you ******* child and report the **** now. If he's gonna **** them if threaten to **** him in return. Show him who still has the leverage. I wonder when he does come back if he can be suspended for teams reasons and have those games not be part of his accrual.

Why would the Steelers pull the tag and make him an UFA after all this? That would be in his best interest correct? I don't know all the ins and outs of this situation but I don't think they want to do him any favors at this point unless it's in the team's best interest to do so.

This is all over the social media world. Lets hope the players can get past today and be ready for a Brown's team licking their chops that this will effect their performance. We have had a lot of starting player voice their displeasure, in Bell and his made up name agent threats. Lets hope it is a motivator for Sunday and whatever running back is in give it their all. Give him his free agent tag, he has no open arms now in Pittsburgh or the locker room.

Sometimes the best thing is to say you were wrong and take your lumps and move on.

I am talking about the Steelers here. Rescind the tag, end the distraction, come together as a team, and MOVE THE **** ON. Management lost the comp pick, that is on them, but the cap savings would allow them to save a measure of face.

I agree I mean the team has enough locker room issues as it is. When Bell comes back there will be a lot of tension at best and at worst a severely divided locker room. Only way I can see things working out is if LeVeon comes in and gives a great speech and apologizes and what not. Realistically i do not think he is anywhere near that maturity level. All the negative BS / distractions effects the team whether they will admit it or not. If the Steelers just pull the tag and Bell is gone I think that it would be a huge weight lifted off everyone's back.

I'm not going to lie. I'm surprised. Never expected him to hold out, because it effects his legacy. He's not winning the rushing title holding out. He's not getting closer to being the GOAT. And he let his teammates down. They have every right to be upset.

Steelers don't deal with players that hold out. And his agent will have a tough time representing players in Pittsburgh from this moment on. Holding out does nothing, and does not change the value of his contract. It is locked in. He's being a wuss. His agent could talk with the Steelers and ask for reduced playing time, and I'm sure the Steelers would oblige if they were up front about it. Now, hell no.

Oh well. Thanks for the cap room Bell. Keep holding out as long as you want. It makes the Steelers that much richer next year as well as this year.

For me now in regards to him it is all about compensation. Working the phones to see if they can ultimately get better than that perceived third.

And I tell you I am not sure I play him if he comes back after the trade deadline. I do everything in my power to see it that he never distracts this team again.

Do you think his Oline would subject him to similar treatment?
I wouldn't blame them. But these guys are professionals.

It's time to weed out the culture that's been plaguing the Steelers the past few seasons.
Guys like AB, Pouncey etc seem to be maturing and are in it for the team now.

Bell cannot grow up.
We don't need him.
It's a joke, but after seeing the quotes, I would not be surprised if they were not quite as motivated to hold those blocks for him quite as much. I agree they are pros, but at that level every bit of motivation and effort is required to win.

Yinz too young to remember should know that this is not the first barn dance the Rooneys have hosted. Back in the 70's they were trying their damnedest to mollify an eventual hall of famer that was also lookin' out for #1.

In his book, Three Bricks Shy of a Load, Roy Blount Jr wrote...

It has been established earlier in this book that Mel Blount was wrong when he said to me in 1973, “Your greatgrandfather probably owned my great-grandfather.” (“No,” my father assured me, “your great-grandfather didn’t own Mel’s great-grandaddy, because your great-grandaddy didn’t own anything.”)

But as a football player, Mel himself was owned by the Steelers. When training camp opened in 1977, however, he was withholding his services. And demanding to be traded. And suing Steeler head coach Chuck Noll for $5 million.

AR2 says....been there, done that

Dream scenario for me at this point....

Bell stays away until the "before week 11" deadline, whenever that technically is.
When he comes back, James is still the starter and Bell is relegated to backup.
We're in the playoffs and we have a "just in case" Bell sitting fresh, but now in actual game shape after 6 weeks practicing with the team.
Regardless of how our season ends, Bell gets his 6/7 weeks of franchise pay and we'll get our third round comp PLUS an additional 8.5 million towards the cap next season.

I'm ready to ride with Conner, and it's starting to feel like the team is, too.
I don't think Bell should be handed the starting gig whenever he decides to come back.
I think it should be Conner's spot to lose.
If the team is winning, and/or in a groove and clicking on all cylinders offensively, there's zero reason to upset that.

I know, from what we've seen, Bell is probably the better runningback.
But I think with our O-Line, our QB, and our WR corps that subbing in Conner for Bell isn't going to be the monumental dropoff everyone thinks it is.
And I'm actually counting on this fact.
So that Bell's next contract from whatever moronic team gives to him, isn't what he was expecting, and not as much as the Steelers' final offer.

THAT would be the proper karma he deserves and we deserve.

Agree. I still have to think that he'd get more money if he played a full season and put up good numbers and maybe the rushing title, but whatever.

I agree slash and I think if / when he comes back and signs one might think about suspending him the two unpaid games for sure and then not give a hat the rest of the games. NO sympathy from me to him and I've noticed a lot of CRICKEtS from the defenders of the BELL. I'd like to hear what some of those defenders have to say???

Bell deserved the benefit of the doubt until he screwed his teammates over. There is a business side and a football side. He is now messing with their business and football sides. Fans just want him to be here, play and get paid his millions. Our vested interest is from afar and can change at a drop of a dime. It's difficult to be on both sides of the pendulum when you are a fan.

I think most, if not all of us here would agree with that. Right now he is losing money by not showing up, but more importantly, he is displaying his character to all the other owners in the league.

There may be a team out there that will give him the payday he wants, but his actions aren't doing him any favors in that regard.

Doesn't take a genius to figure this out, and Bell is no genius.

I put my faith in our FO. They are not stupid. They already have plans in place to deal with whatever scenario Bell presents them with.

I'd add a meaningfull comment but I took off work early and have had too many rum and cokes.

I'm with you, Lunar. I did not take off work early, but I've had too many vodka and tonics.

The reaction today was all over the place on the supposedly experts on all the talk shows. The main reaction, players were wrong and Bell is a hero. Management is wrong , Tomlin comments about keeping the team together was beat to death. Oh the ways of hating the Steelers continues.
