The Good -

Washington is a fighter, now just imagine him in with AB, Juju, Bell, and McDonald. Lick your lips anticipation is on the phone.

James Conner - He ran like the terminator out there, solidifying his number 2 RB spot IMO. I hope he is still working on his blocking though.

JuJu on that beat - And beating cornerbacks with a Lambeau leap !

Vince Williams- He is showing some stone cold good **** you ability out there. Can I get a hell yeah.

Edmunds- He still has some work to do in coverage ( a Tomlin obviously) but he showed some of his ability, and at the very least will help special teams be a little more special.

Mathew Thomas - showed run stopping ability and you could see that speed. I actually like him better than Fort.

Ola Adeniyi - James Harrison light, shows some similarities .

The Bad.

Dobbs & Rudolph - Although Rudolph we could argue was belonging on "The Ugly". Both had INTs returned for a TD. But Dobbs semi vindicated himself. Rudolph looked nervous and unsure of himself. I don't seeing that performance gluing to him moving forward. But we might not want to ship Jones and Dobbs off, just yet.

Dirty Red - I really don't see him more than a special teamer, outside of that he doesn't look too special.

Nat Berhe - They should missile him right out of the secondary for good.

Brian Allen - Not his best performance.

The Ugly.

The Secondary - Overall Green Bays TEs had their way, and I still think the communication process is a work in progress. **** you drove poor ol Cope to drinking. We will need the team to rebound in this area next week.

I will add that the special teams aren't all that special. Punting was horrible both distance and hang. Toussiant as the kick returner. I guess he has been back there for his sure handedness. You know where that got us. I'm sure all of this will shake out over the next two weeks. There are some darn good athletes that just haven't found the right spot yet.

Connor- Nice to have a guy that wants to be here.

Washington- Makes me smile. Five Wide !

I thought Berry was hot n cold and the cold part made me want to punt him right off the roster. But he did have some decent distant punts too. But yeah we need to see better hang time and less short punts...

Berry has been a decent punter. Hopefully he's pick preseason to knock off the rust. Then again, He only has one job.

The bad, the bad and the downright ******* unacceptable. Coaching, Management, and ownership. This offense has been intact for over three years sans JU JU, and yet we still have a ******* spiny door thingy for a ******* defense. We lose one player and turn into the shittest defense in the ******* league. I'm not looking for the steel curtain of the 70's or even the defenses that Cowher had but come the **** on can we just be good enough to hold teams under 40 points so our offense at least has a chance to win some games. **** ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the writeup Slash! Though my drinking was more due to being at the beach, though the game did make me increase the intake a bit...

I've never seen Berry punt two dogs in a game. Either something is wrong with him, or he didn't kick all offseason.

I will also say this: Tucker can block. He's willing, looks for hits, targets, and walls off his man. DHB is in real trouble right now.

Preseason........8-9 starters weren’t even dressed, including 3 defensive players. Really no game planning. Only skill positions show up in real time. 2nd half primarily twos and threes. Lots of sloppiness. We need to be realistic.....it was the second preseason game...folks need to relax. Next Sat is the dress rehearsal. First couple of drives on O and D will be there true barometer of where the team is at.

This kid is real and plays a hell of a lot faster in pads than open 40yrd dashes. He makes the roster and lotsa playing time.

James Conner - He ran like the terminator out there, solidifying his number 2 RB spot IMO. I hope he is still working on his blocking though.

JC shows us you don't need to play hop scotch to run the ******* rock. He also shows up on time ready to rumble.

JuJu on that beat - And beating cornerbacks with a Lambeau leap !

YES SIR,............. No poison frogg trick here.......

Vince Williams- He is showing some stone cold good **** you ability out there. Can I get a hell yeah.

VERY impressed as he's been an underdog to this point. A "timmons" sort off but way better today than Lawrence is today.

Edmunds- He still has some work to do in coverage ( a Tomlin obviously) but he showed some of his ability, and at the very least will help special teams be a little more special.

Does he merit that 1st round pick, to soon to tell but I think he is on his way towards justification

Mathew Thomas - showed run stopping ability and you could see that speed. I actually like him better than Fort.

This is the one kid I really want to shine all the way. 2nd preseason game and already pushing others

Ola Adeniyi - James Harrison light, shows some similarities .

Although I have been pushing for Rudolf all off season I can see I need patience with his development. Jones is clearly the number two and that's OK. Now it's up to Dobbs as to how important it is to keep him. Rudolf makes the team, Dobbs trade???

Dirty Red - I really don't see him more than a special teamer, outside of that he doesn't look too special.
look next response
Nat Berhe - They should missile him right out of the secondary for good.

Brian Allen - Not his best performance.

All three of the above may be spot duty. They need their personal bubble to get bigger. Dirty has a chance as special teams ace but I would like someone besides him as a starter. Nate needs Nate to step up or he is gone. Brian may have just had a bad office day or his underwear was riding up but either way he needs to step it up. The importance of these players could become a big factor if an injury or two occurs & preseason is to determine who stay and who goes

The Ugly.

ONLY the second pre-season game in a hostile stadium whose team was playing to win for home crowd. We rebound a plenty next week (or so I hope). No sky falling yet but slash is right they need to step it up.

AN ADDER

Coaches need to narrow this down and give specific role's to players so they can hone to that role and not wait till regular season. 1st 1/2 all starters next week and some decisions made.

Salute the nation

I forgot to add:

The Bad -Chickillo - Not sure he picked it up from beating out Moats last year. You would wonder if Ola and or Keion would add more upside at the position. Both have had their moments in preseason and camp.

The Good -JaySam - He is looking like he is trifecta capable as he blocked decently out there, and had hs moments in the passing game as well as a runner.

Keep a eye on the Hilton / Sutton quiet battle. Sutton is a better pass defender, Hilton is better against the run and blitzing. But Hilton could lose some snaps to Sutton if the Steelers want more of a coverage corner in certain packages.

So hard to tell they didn't seem to be scheming out there with their corners. Looked like more one on one let us see what you got. A new DB coach wants to sort out depth, and get a firm grasp on what he has,

I think when you see a improved Burns, Haden, and Sutton on the field you will see a pretty solid coverage unit. Especially adding in Burnett and Edmunds into the mix. And to a lesser degree, to still be seen Davis.

Which for me FS is the wild card in this equation, which we really haven't got to see with Davis nursing injury.

I recorded and watched both games, just to see individual performances. Basically agree with most of your comments. To add:

Bostic has speed but can't tackle or cover. There were already guys on the roster with similar skills. Waste of money IMO.

Anyone see Tuitt do anything, other than miss tackles including the QB TD run? Starting to believe he's another Woodley. He and Heyward are the key to run defense, especially with Shazier gone. Ugh.

Big Dan McCullers looks much improved. He actually chased down a QB! Man what he could do without that big belly lol.

Rudolph played against a #1 D, Dobbs did not. Hard to compare under those conditions. Dobbs has better legs and arm, although Rudolph trucked Brice on a play. Dobbs throws up a lot of jump balls while Rudolph anticipates better. I think in the long run Rudolph's skills translate better to the NFL, and he can work on arm strength. The problem is neither have shown enough to push Jones out. Yet.

IMO Allen is close to being a solid nickel/dime CB. The PI call was bullshit, and he can improve covering slants.

Burnett seems slow to read and react for a player with his experience. I hope it's just rust.

I like what Edmunds has shown so far.

Overall, the team looks very similar to last year. Offense will score, defense will disappear against good teams, special teams will be average. If they can get the D at least up to average against the better opponents, it could be a special season.

To be fair, 14 of the points were on the offense. Defense stunk but did hold Green Bay to 37 points - which means we would have still lost.

Yep! I agree with you here Ike. We all need to relax and let this preseason take its course. Lots of vanilla being shown out there.
Interesting though with how some teams approach pre season. Look at the Pats who played Brady quite a bit in only the second pre season game. That’s risky!

What's worrisome, and correct me if wrong, a significant number of the defensive starters played and still looked like crap.

Missed tackles have to stop. Is it coaching or lack of skill, maybe both? Been watching since before most of you were born and can't remember a defense this bad.

I think one of the good things is we don't have Mike Mitchell anymore.

I am still wondering why we had a safety covering their No. 1 WR on a big pass play early in the game. He was beat by Adams coming off the line. That should be a CB on their top WR's coming off the line.

And the Packers actually game planned, even played Rodgers......

Agree with the OP's analysis except for the Mason Rudolph bit. Everyone tries to compare rookie QB's to Ben when he had to start in 2004, but Ben came in and played with the first team right away. Rudolph has the pedigree to be an elite QB. Cut him some slack it's preseason for god's sake, he hasn't even been with the team a full year.

Yes I used the word pedigree without laughing out loud.

If we are lucky to stay mostly healthy this season, this offense could score 30ppg

Hate to say it, but even if they do I see 10-6.

I know preseason, but look how they finished last year.

Looking forward to the next game when everyone plays. It should be telling.

I didn't watch the game, I was at work, but giving up 50+ points in a preseason game tells me something is wrong.... Wow.

If they do that come the regular season then worry.
