Preseason game at Lambeau

I see 99 and 55 on the field and I think, man it's nice to see Kirkland and Porter out there...

You vacationing down in Virginia Beach ? Atlantic Avenue becomes a combat zone after 9.

You are damn right about that. Especially in the summer, and after midnight. I pulled in last night at 1:15 and had to walk Atlantic twice before I could park...

Well that's a wrap. Dobbs is clearly #3 and Rudolph is #4. Need to work harder rook!

Rudolph will be #3, Dobbs will be released.

I see some of that in Terrell Edmunds. If he adds 5-10 pounds he's as big as most NFL ILB's. Could be a real weapon there....just projecting here...

Thats obviously where they are going with it... they started having ilbs drop weight and play at safety weights the last few seasons of lebeau... they are just going to eliminate a lb and play with a hybrid all the time because of how tes have evolved and how the mid range passing game has been utilized this era

Im not going to over react to a pre season game. However, if tonight is what it looks like on defense its time for a coaching change next season. You have the entire off season to schematically diagnose and fix your problems . But they look exactly like they did last year. Four steamboats wide open across the middle. Its a ****** preseason game. I ll give it a pass. But like I said if this is how its gonna look. Heads gotta roll.

It's too early to freak out. People have to realize that because there has been so much rain, the steelers have not had much chance to hit in practice.

You also have to realize that they are trying out a lot of new schemes on defense with DBs all over the place. Watt hasn't played yet. Dupree has barely played.

It looks to me like the steelers are setting up their DBs to be in difficult one on one positions on purpose to evaluate them. They are breaking camp and back to their normal facilities. They also have 9 days until their 3rd preseason game.

If they look like **** in game 3, then start to worry a bit, but right now it's too early.

Look at the positives. Edmunds, Washington, and Okorafor look like they will be future impact players. Rudolph has been decent too. He's been thrown in there against some starters and has not gotten good protection, nor has he had AB or Bell to help him out.

Jesse James looks better too. James Conner is looking good as a runner. Dupree actually made some plays lined up in his new position and may actually be healthy.

Im not asking for a defense like the '08-'09 team. Just one that can keep it under 24. This defense still doesnt look like that. I realize they were without starters. It just looks the same to me.

three out of the four QBs the packers played last nite had regular season starting experience. Big advantage IMO

The league has done away with those type of defenses and YOU may never see the likes of that "D" again. Preseason game 2. I think the coaching etc. we're out to get major evaluation done in this game. I bet the first half of next week's game is a little more realistic of what we will see on the season. EITHER way it had best be a step up in the right direction and above the neck,.........so to speak.

Salute the nation

Here's a scary thought. Rudolph is doing well in practices vs. the defense. What does that say about the Steelers defense? I know its not a game, but if he's beating our LB's and S' like a drum for yardage...

I would start Thomas and Fort at ILB, inexperienced but both have above average athleticism to play the position

Thomas doesn't know what he's doing at this point in time. Fort does, and I agree Okay he's not a physical guy, but at least he can run and cover, two assets badly needed at ILB.

he was beat like the rest of them on a 3rd and 15, so no, he's not that better in coverage either

i know its only preseason, but it seemed we could not cover or tackle anyone

after watching the game again the biggest bright spot was Washington, the kid made some great catches as well as held the ball with defender all over him. The big question will Tomlin allow the kid tp play. Tomlin had some this defense would have tackle drills until they dropped. Just pathetic the yards give up by missed tackles and poor tackling techniques. We showed the ugly face of third and real long and giving it up as if one yard was needed. The offense had some moments with Conner's as well I thought the kid from NC state Samuels, showed some promise. We need someone with the new kick off rule that can bring the ball out with some authority. Hard to believe Tomlin gets rid of a OC that made our offense better and keeps a DC that has shown no improvement. Those stats of the defense last year was very miss leading, we had and still have a hard time getting off the field on third down, how does that change with same personnel by the time season starts. Tomlin is at mud season with that look he gets on the sidelines.

Idk, from the sound of things; missed assignments and getting blown out is not shaping out to be promising.
Hope it's not 2013 all over again

okay, but he just got here, let's give him a little while, fort's been here HOW long again?

Bostic just got here, Fort's been here, this is his second season with the team. From that logic we should give Bostic a one year looksee

We also played a bunch of stiffs at QB last year due to injuries and scheduling. This year we will play a lot of the better QBs and they will toast this mediocre defense.

this is NOT fort's 2nd year with the team, this is his 3rd year (assumedly) on the active roster and not practice squad.

Omar is right. LJ has been with the team since 2015 in either an active or practice squad setting. He even was in a game in 2015 (the one Rosie got hurt).
