Mason Rudolph.....

I don't understand the absolute hatred some have for Pouncey. There's certainly a fairly large segment of the fans and sports writers (especially PFF) that don't value the guy at all. On the inside, it seems as though his teammates, coaches, and management all love Pouncey and look at him as one of the leaders of the team.

I use to be one of those guys...anymore not so much. He seems to have been able to play a couple of seasons without getting hurt now and actually earn his paycheck. I think anyways. When they extended him I still think they overpaid him at the time.

When you see him obliterate guys on the second level or bolt down the field like a gazelle, you realize how good he really is. And Ben absolutely loves him (reinforcing your point about teammates & coaches loving him). The guy is really good, was just snake bit by injury in the early going.

And speaking of Ben, http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-top100-2018/0ap3000000937706/Top-100-Players-of-2018-Ben-Roethlisberger-No-18

I think it just came out.

GREAT video Steelworth, thanks for posting but I still think BR should be a few notches higher.

I like Pounce he has done well for the Steelers.

I think some fans didn't like his Hernandez crap, but that should be in the rear-view mirror by now.

Steelers will have 3 of the top 18 players in the NFL. Think any other NFL team can make that statement?

It all means nothing unless they win the SB.

Sir,......snoop dog is black and yellow

Black and Gold

Honest mistake now and again but just keeping yaz honest for future referrals

MOST important thingy.

snoopdog always interviews black and yellow but I get your Khalifa referral to his song black and yellow. Was just pointing out the B & G stigma VS the black and yellow. NO insult intended............Good Day SIR !!

I don't think Pouncey is a bad player.
Other than the "free hernandez" thingy a few years.

I think Pouncey has been pretty solid

None taken.
I just wanted to clarify as to alleviate any misunderstandings.
Interwebs are not good for picking up emotions like sarcasm and humor.

Good day, sir?
Really?
You're giving me the Charlie Buckets treatment?

I think this line of Pouncey integration is kind of moot, anyways.
I'm pretty sure on multiple occasions that both Pouncey and Ben have said they're retiring when the other one does.

I doubt they retire at the same time.** Centers do not last as long as his game is not based on power.* Its based on movement and quickness, which drop off as you age.

He's undersized and average at moving DT's backward for the ground game.* He's at his best on the move, pulling, combo blocks, etc...

In terms of value to the team the following players I think to mean more*on game day.** I'll see if I can name 10 of them.

Ben
Bell
AB
Ju-ju
Gilbert
Big Al
Heyward
Tuitt
Watt
Burns
Haden

That is 11 guys, you can argue one or two, and I didn't even list DeCastro, or Boswell.

Bottom line: Pouncey was replaced twice by*two different journeymen and we did not lose much. But if one of the above players 11 players I mentioned goes down, we are in some trouble as a journeyman can't replace them.

The Steelers performed pretty well with Hubbard in place of Gilbert.

That was meant in a VERY heavy english accent while wearing a Monical and gray mustache to boot. (sarcasm alert)

I'll tell you what we lost when Pouncey went down. The ability to pull and run our patented center overloads. We had a plug center, that couldn't move laterally, and had to change the offense, so yes there was a big difference when Pouncey was out of the game.

Mike Webster - 17yrs
Dirt Dawson - 13 years
Pouncey - in his 9th current season

Not sure where you get your opinion of Centers going down quick. It is no more difficult to play center, as it is to play guard, except the skill of snapping a ball. Our last 2 HOF centers played 13-17 years. Pouncey would have a few years left.

Plus he's a lot healthier when he isn't getting injured by his own teammate.

Pouncey is also in the top 5 IMHO, you want to know why? Because he doesn't put snaps on the ground. You notice a center when he does that, and Pouncey is automatic. Tough to see problems in a guy when he is perfect at his job...

Hubbard is not on the team and isn't a journeyman. If Gilbert goes down in 2018, the Steelers are in some trouble.

Pouncey was replaced twice by no name journeyman on the street.

If I had to pick for the future between Gilbert or Pouncey, I'd pick Gilbert. He's a tackle

Hubbard was an UDFA. He was cut by the team twice and spent time on the practice squad. He was a no name and one that many didn't like, especially when at tackle. He seemed to do just fine last year replacing Gilbert.

I don't know why you need to pick between Gilbert or Pouncey because both are signed through at least 2019.

Coach Crayola still pushing his agenda.......

Where are the no name journeymen playing now? Did they make All-pro the following year?

If you had to pick......lol. We all know your “picks”. Like your clairvoyance for Polamalu.

Watt more valuable on the field than Pouncey?

Just because Watt isn't a complete and total bust like the last 29 guys we've drafted to play OLB doesn't mean he's some uber valuable player. He has a lot of work to do before he contributes more on the field than Pouncey
