Which is why I hope they ease him in lighten the load. They won't but why not reward the players that actually have their *** in camp ?
Exactly! I would actually bench him for a game. Especially if the other guys seem to be running well.

So how exactly benching him for a game going to get him back into football shape?
I am for easing him back in.
But I would think practice, could help round him back into game shape...........
I hope Tomlin gives Ben the authority to call his OWN plays just as Bradshaw used to do back in the day.
How about just let Ben go no-huddle whenever he sees fit. If that is the majority of the game and it gets results...so be it. Don't handcuff the leader of your offense. It's about the end results. Period.
re quoted because I think it applies hereEver wonder if we are just going back to the days of Bruce Arians?F
So Fichtner becomes QB coach 2 years before Haleys arrival. Ben loved Arians. So those last 2 years of Arians when ben was seemingly running for his life, holding the ball,, etc.. Was under fichtner and Arians. Then
Roony brings in Haley. Offense is noticeably changed. Ben is better protected and isn't holding the ball and getting creamed. Ben obviously hates Haley. Steelers Offense Looks great last few years,, but cant put the ball in the endzone.
Does Fichtner add to Haleys Offense and make it more dynamic? Does he scrap it all and start fresh? Does he combine what he knows under Arians and Haley to make the offense better? Or OR Does he do whatever ben wants, like what we thought Arians was doing.

Whether Fichtner is as good a play caller, I dont know we will see.
Granted it was a ways back and college, but Fichtner was a pretty prolific OC and play-caller then. From Wiki: He earned the position of wide receivers coach and recruiting director at Purdue in 1994, serving for two years before moving to Arkansas State to become the offensive coordinator from 1997–2001. Under Fichtner's tutelage, former CFL quarterback Cleo Lemon flourished, setting numerous school records for passing and total offense. Fichtner returned to Memphis in 2001 to serve as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, instituting a new, highly effective spread offense that set school records for total offense. The new system allowed the teams to amass prolific offensive statistics, totaling over 5,000 yards in both 2003 and 2004 to rank in the top ten for both yardage and scoring, as well as supporting the development of quarterback Danny Wimprine and running back DeAngelo Williams.
I know things have changed and it's the NFL, but Fichtner has also been with the Steelers since 2007. I'm sure he's been pretty instrumental in the offenses' development, and if I'm not mistaken, he's been the one overseeing the 2-minute drill.
Never said he would get back into game shape. I expect him to be in game shape before week 1. My point was for him to get practice reps learning the new playbook and terminology instead of throwing him like last year. Maybe the answer isn’t benching him for the first game but wouldn’t give him anymore than a handful of touches for the first game or two and especially if the other backs are running well.
Why? You are giving him $14 mill plus. He is the best RB on the team...hand him the rock, but don't be afraid to give him .A BREATHER OR TWO
And some play action passingAs long as it has the QB sneak in it for 3rd and 4th and short it will be a plus.
That sums it up right there. Our coaching decided that even in instances where we are at a comfortable lead that LeVeon should still be out there. What makes you think something has changed, why would you want him fresh???? That goers against "run the wheels off" mentality of our head coach. Jeepers/......??
