I know trends tend to come and go, but I have been thinking with the Eagles run and their RPOs and stuff...if his is where the NFL is going right now. The athletes on defense round the league seem to be getting better and better all the time, so maybe you need a QB who can move a little. I wish we would see some of that in the Steelers offense. But can Ben do it at this point in his career?
I look at the Super Bowl, and at the end of the day, the crucial play, as good as Brady is and was in that game, the Eagles always knew where he would be. I don't think the Pats could say that about Foles. So they had complete confidence when they sent the blitz that he'd be standing there. I don't know, maybe I'm making more out of it than I should be, but if I have a QB who moves around a bit, designed I mean, not just running, maybe that's what is needed more today.
Maybe Ben can't do that anymore. Maybe he can. But if he can't, maybe they should move on when his contract is done. I know that is sacrilege around here. But I know the Steeler offense is dull in many ways. Seems like it's the same stuff week in and week out. Is it cause the QB can't do some of the more creative things?

I always like how Denver used to move the pocket when Elway was their QB. It counteracts blitzes, because the pocket may roll to their side. Ben is incredible on the move, in the pocket, and always has his eyes downfield. It's been downright criminal that we never worked that strength of his, into our offensive game plan.
Ben is no longer mobile, but he's always been pocket mobile, and can extend the plays because of it.
This has nothing to do with Ben, I said during the draft I didn't want to take a QB, stop with Ben is your guy ****, or you don't have to agree with everything he says crap. If one of the top 4 fell to us at 28 I still wouldn't want to pick him, it doesn't have a damn thing to do with Ben.
Who cares what we've done in round 3 since 2000, does that mean we shouldn't even try, by that logic Rudolph isn't going to amount to much.

Umm i was saying pre draft I didn't want a QB early, before Ben ever said anything, so again, what I think of Ben doesn't have a damn thing to do with anything.Sure. Ben isn't your guy. Whatever.
Actually, several of those third round picks eventually did amount to much, just not right away, which is what YOU and Ben (not your guy) wanted, right? Somebody to help the team NOW?
You forgot to answer the simple question: What "possible play-maker" would you have chosen instead of Rudolph?

There were a few pass rushers there when we picked.

I wasn't trying to be specific, an outside pass rusher is a huge need for us.Great. Thanks for being so specific.

Malik Jefferson LB Texas, Rasheem Green DE USC or Sam Hubbard DE OSU, Oren Burks could've potentially been put in at ILB on passing downs quicker light LBI guess my question about what particular play-maker you would have taken in Rudolph's spot wasn't specific enough.

Cohwer curtailed him his first couple years. He was saddled with the worst offensive line the NFL for about 5 years along with a ****** up OC who wanted 9step drop backs and eternity for plays to develope which turned into school yard activities. Finally they start to mold a OL and bring in an OC who is keeping him from catastrophe which in the end was ran out of town on a rail,........... Coincidently the fat lady is just starting to warm her vocal cords and BEN has one of the BEST OL in the game and hopes of our new OC instilling something that works to his majic. 3 to 5 years and three to five SBs, sounds about right.
Salute the nation
I agree. And at that time, I was screaming for rollouts, since our line wasn't giving him time. Roll the pocket, slow the pass rush, and Ben would make plays. The only rollout I can remember was Hines' first catch in the 2008 SB. He was coming off the leg injury in the Ravens game, first play of the game was a roll out downfield pass to him. We never used it again...
