I’ve seen Reid mocked to us in the 2nd round quite a bit and I personally don’t think he will be available.

Round 1 and 2 would be very good. I think Reid is gone by pick #50

My mock if the draft fell that way would be

#1 Reid - Safety. Don't think he will be there for round two. BPA matching Need
#2 Penny - Running back - Liked his stuff at the senior bowl. Big, fast, productive.
#3 Leonard - Inside Linebacker - Will need to add 10 pounds, but he can run and tackle
#5 Seat - Nose Tackle / Defensive tackle - Very productive
#5 Griffin - Inside Linebacker - Top athlete, missing his hand, but can still play. Very fast. A top effort player.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Reid is our selection in Rd. 1. If he slides to us in Rd. 2, that would be a steal.

I like the Penny choice as well. The Steelers need to be thinking life after Bell.

Agreed. Lucky for us this is a decent RB class. Last year proved you don't need to be drafted in round one to be a very good NFL back.

I like Chubb, Penny, and Johnson. I'll take any of them in round two.

The one knock on Penny, he's a slow learner type...so I read. But RB a spot where a low football IQ doesn't matter as much. You get he ball, then go on instincts.

If we don't get Vander Esch I think we can go ILB in rounds 3 and 5 and come away with better than say Spence or Dirty Red. I like Leonard a lot in round three.

I've been a Steeler fan and spent at least a full week of my life watching the drafts unfold. I can not recall one draft where we made the playoffs where the needs were this HIGH on defense, and that bothers me a bit picking at the end of rounds 1-3. Colbert has earned my trust, with the memories of Hood and Jones fading, we need him to produce again and please Kevin, take the trade down offers if they are there.

two capable stop gaps were picked up in free agency

The needs might not be as big as you think they are.

Sure they need a FS and a ILBer for the future. And perhaps one could even force their way onto the field early.

So we aren't talking two to three to four spots on D that leave you scratching your head.

The Steelers could even take BPA and draft a O prospect in 1 or 2.

Because they filled those questionable holes enough to be able to go that route.

Evans (I knew Reid would be there.)
Reid
Royce Freeman
Fred Warner
Auden Tate

They are in a no must situation with ILB, Safety and Running Back being semi needs if a really good Corner fell I could see that. Cant have enough and Haden would be expendable next year.

.

I know that I am in the minority... but I want nothing to do with Rashaan Evans. I would honestly rather have Jefferson in the 2nd... and maybe even Avery later. Maybe BOTH. I do like Penny... but I also like Hines and Ballage.

28. Ronald Jones II, RB
60. Terrell Edmunds, S
92. Hercules Mata'afa, LB
148. Fred Warner, LB
165. Deontay Burnett, WR

Something is missing here.........where is Dickson the Punter?

Great point. That is really the giant fault in mock-the-mocks. You get to cheat and see who would be available in the next round, and the next, etc.

Me? If the choice is Evans or Reid, I go Reid. He upgrades the secondary right now. Evans will help ILB, if he is healthy enough to do so. And if he can cover. And if he is not forced to wait on the play action, and then find the RB over the middle.

.

I really dig Burks from Vandy... I think he has a bright future in the NFL. He played three positions in three years and excelled at each stop. And he was a two-time team captain.

I like him a lot.

Yeah corner is definitely one of the wild cards in all this. Do you take a ILB,S,RB if there is a clear BPA corner there?

No you stick to your boards. Or trade down.

Have to get that best value to maximize your draft chances/ percentages.

I am hoping they have a wider BPA than just two to three positions.

I usually think they do, but sometimes you wonder...

with so many qbs expected to go in the 1st 2 rounds, this would be a perfect year to trade back and pick up extra draft picks next year or go ahead and pull the trigger on Bens replacement. let him sit for a few years like Rogers did

Likely gone before our 2nd 5th round pick and off the board before round six starts.

But we know that. If you think he’s on the board when round six starts., we can have a wager for board contributions.

The wager and terms are still on the other thread. Has been for several days waiting for your response. Wager was no Punter will be picked before pick 148. As usual you avoid it and won’t follow through. However, NOW you are saying he’s like gone by pick 165, and off the board before pick 175.

Because you seem to be weaseling out of your own BS from this wager, Coolie’s wager and Cope’s, plus your BS statements about Natrel Jameson, I’ll change the bet for the last time and wager no punter will be picked before selection 165. $100 to the Board contribution. If one is picked before 165, I’ll pay, if one isn’t you pay.

Ok, time to stand by your BS Coach. No more changes to the wager. Either you own up to your own BS, or you don’t.

Mods, Justin, PM me and Coach (if he doesn’t wilts) with any details I need to know regarding how to issue the contribution.

He is locked into Coolie's bet no getting out of that one. No matter how much he tries to weasel.
