With the draft approaching, who really makes the most sense in round 1?

Well I dont know but I just went through Mayocks analysis of the following players.
Watt- Clay Matthews type player with size to put on more bulk and maybe better on coverage.
Burns- goes as high as first as low as third. Has speed. Some think he could be best CB in draft. Read between the lines boom or bust pick.
Shazier: One of the fastest linebackers he has seen. Epitome of new breed linebacker.
Jarvis Jones: He felt he fit the profile of a pittsburgh edge rushing linebacker in terms of body type and explosiveness. He was wrong. So were a lot including the Steelers. The draft turns a lot of ways. He doesnt have a crystal ball for who is taking who. However my experience is that if he likes the player and if he likes him to Pittsburgh he is usually right about the guy.

I just showed you were wrong, but by all means keep pushing your inaccurate agenda.

You remind me off coach, watches nothing and depends on everything he reads. And still manages to soak in what he reads in inaccurate way.

Well now you are jist being a ****** idiot. I just showed you what he said about those players. Just because he had them taking a different guy doesnt mean he thought the guy was a poor fit. The only guy I really remember him being pretty iffy on draft day was Burns.
Truth is it will take a long time to say who is right here. He will either be a Steeler and it will be obvious he could go earlier and bust you are right. Or later and succeed and Im right.

I am being the idiot? You haven't watched a lick of ******* tape. And are hanging on a guys nuts who only correct Steeler prediction was Jarvis, and I am the idiot?

So the guy is good at predicting range of what players will go at in comparison to other draftniks. That doesn't mean we should hang on every ******* eval he spits out.

I tell you what makes you a idiot seeing how we are on the name calling level now.

You are a idiot because we could show you 100 flaws on a player and as long as Mayock likes him you are game. That is what makes you a ******* idiot. Because your guy was dissed on no!

Do us all a favor and watch some ******* tape on your guy and stop living off other peoples evals.

People like you are why TMC got tired of throwing out what he saw.

Because you are locked hook and sinker because of what you read.

Oh that sure makes a sure can't miss prospect.

Go be a ******** on your time.

Well who do you like Evans? A Safety? They dont need and arent taking a safety and Evans didnt run. They might like Evans better. No one including me would be upset if it was Evans. I like Vander Esche. No I havent poured all over his ****** highlights. I watched lots. But I dont believe highly in just highlights. My football time is taken up preparing for Spring Youth football working with actual athletes that I can effect. The Steelers Need a cover ILB. This kid fits that bill. Plus he projects well to be an every down ILB by most acvounts including Mayock. We disagree and I guess we will see. Alot of Mocks have him going before the Steelers pick. Which is good. A player will fall then. Maybe even a NT like Payne.

Not talking highlights I was talking actual game footage. Watching him, and you have admitted to not doing that. Which lessens your opinion regardless if it may ruffle your feathers. And I get the feeling you haven't seen him play at all. That is how you are coming across.

I always have said I like BPA. I like Evans less now after not seeing his tests. But the Steelers might have seen enough on tape, their call.

Payne looks like a keeper, but should be off the board. Not sure if a player like him could slide.

Safety is looking like it could be a safer choice depending on who is there.

If a team reaches for LVE early and 6 QBs are picked perhaps some value slides down.

Round 1 in this years class isn't as attractive as some others I have seen.

But we shall see how it unfolds.

LVE is the pick I will deal with it, and be surprised at the same time.

But there is a lot there to be nervous about.

Regardless if you don't see it........

I still think I would take LVE. I have been wrong before, but I have a feeling about this guy.

What I will say is that with Dunbar in the room I think they will get a very good view of the Alabama players. You have a guy who has been at the meetings, the practices and the games with those guys. If it comes down to Evans or LVE and he says Evans. He would know the intangibles better than anyone. But then again he may not like him. I can no more say Vander Esch will succeed more than you can say he will fail. Ive played this draft game plenty. Truth is until Sundays start happening over a two year period. No one knows
I did watch Voch Lombardi on Vander Esch and Evans a while back. What a load of ****. He sticks on a couple series of plays against Virginia and goes on and on. Christ you could do that with any linebacker. Everyone gets blocked sometimes. The best ones get blocked. And oh he just glosses over two tackles for loss in the sequences.

I invite you to go to youtube and pull up some game footage and watch. Watch as many as you can find. and then come back and tell me why he should be the Steelers selection.

I gave you reasons why he could fail. And there is enough of them to not want him as a first round pick IMO.

I just want you to see when you are comparing players you should do more than read about them.

Read a book or see how something is done? Most people are hands on type of people. And I am willing to bet the more you look closer at him the more you question the pick.

I just think with all his question marks his value is better served for round 2.

Perhaps the Steelers will agree with you we'll see.

Here let me help

I'm not gonna try and figure out who they are gonna pick, I'm just gonna come here and ***** about it after they actually pick.

With the 28th overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steerers select .............

Someone that 75% of this board will disagree with.

If LVE is on the board at 28, he will be the pick. If not, who the heck knows. Maybe Evans if he is there but maybe not has he would be a little bit of a reach at that point.

here you see a good player but not a sideline to sideline ILB nor a thumper, to me he looks like a 2nd rounder, been saying it for about a month or so, well before the combine. So he improves his stock with the combine and might sneak as a late 1st but still, not a stellar pick if talent at other positions fall.

Yep a second round value you don't need to draft in 1, that is reaching. There will be round 1 value sitting there. Usually always is...

If LVE or Evans is there I would take one. If both gone, I'd trade back and get the extra player. Early #2 & #3 would be good value for 1st #28.

If LVE is a 2nd round ILB, then Evans must be a 3rd round ILB.

Evans produced against top competition , but yes he has his concerns too.

I am to the point I prefer them to go in another direction at ILBer. Wait to round 2 or 3...

Took Slash's advice and looked at some of the film on youtube for Evans. I'm not sold on either one of these guys, but Evans seems to have the better floor of the two. He diagnoses plays quicker than LVE (without all the "hopping" and slide this way, slide that way wasted movement bullshit), works through traffic at the line better, uses his hands to take on and defeat blocks better .... Didn't see him doing much in coverage, but he looked at least adequate. If it had to be one or the other, I'd go Evans, reluctantly. Sorry, the fact that he has not run a 40 bothers me.

I think Esch is a round one to early round two prospects mostly because he only has one year starting. He makes a lot of plays that come his way. Very long, and aware, a bit like Jack Lambert if you will by saying " long, aware, and makes a lot of plays. " Not saying he's the next Lambert, but I like what I see.

Coach, not jumping on you on this one. Just an observation and a few questions.

Observation: I would hope that he was able to make the plays that come his way. If he couldn't he shouldn't even be in consideration as a R1 pick.

Question: On the tape(s) Slash shared, I see LVE hopping around, moving side to side before finally diagnosing the play. Don't you think he'd be better able to make plays that he has to hunt (i.e. those that flow away from him) without all the wasted movement? (Bonus: Does the unnecessary hopping/shuffling indicate a "low football" IQ or just lack of experience?)

Question: LVE seems to get "caught in the wash" at times ... are you in the least bit concerned about his ability to shed blocks?

I agree about the competition but he also had tremendous players around him that made him look a lot better. LVE was the D for his team and he did it all.
