Two rings one Blount,.........NO ring BELL

Awhile back both Cope and Ike Kelly had a great explanation of how this "TAG" worked in relations to what draft picks you received. I'm pretty sure it is 2-first rounders, one each year post trade. The part I'm not sure on is iff the STEELERS can except a lower draft or package differently.

Man get rid of him. He is out of control with what he wants and does not look like he would be happy with anything less, which means he would make himself a distraction year after year after year. For me he has revealed his true self. I would never wear his Jersey again even if he signs long term. So for me In my mind he done and I think the Steelers should think the same way.

Bell is hurting the Steelers by not signing. I’ll take a 3rd for him right now if that is all the Steelers can get.

Tell Me’von the Steelers can trade him. He just needs to sign the tag. If he still thinks he’s getting 17 million this season draft his replacement and pull the offer.

Then I hope he makes less than the tag amount and plays for a bad team.

Me'von I like that name.
We all should make that stick. Let it go viral. Great nick name for him let him carry it thru his short career. Lmao

Seriously?????

Geez! He’s one player and not even the most important player at that. Ben holds that title.
We will get a repeat from last season when he comes in the week before the first game and he’s out of sync with the offense for four weeks. Why do the Steelers think this will end any differently? Put feelers out there for a team that would pay him what he wants and get the best compensation possible for him. It’s better than the alternative of losing him next season for what, a third round pick?
We then draft a back in round two and go with him and Connor. This guy is not worth it.

The Exclusive tag was enacted by BOTH the owners and players from the CBA. The Non-exclusive allows player movement. The Exclusive doesn’t. It is the “poison pill” that the union and owners collectively bargained so as to protect each other’s interest. The Non-Exclusive is in rapport when a FO doesn’t really feel the player is in their long term plans due to perceived salary demands, replacement already found, etc. Exclusive means that both player and FO expressed interest in an extension and agrees to the result. A. Long Term contract. B. NO NEGOTIATION with other teams. C. Guaranteed Salary at a top 5% and each year with significant escalation.

All this is to put both sides on the path to long term deal.

I think knowing Bell's demands the FO should have used a different tag. Not sure why they thought he would meet them half way.............

Bell changed his ideal, somewhere towards the end of last Feb. I do not know who or why. The facts are this. His agent agreed to the deal last year. His Mother wanted him to sign the deal last year. Le’Veon chose not to sign it. Not his agent (who agreed to the terms).

At some point, he was posturing on guaranteed money, then setting the market straight, then per year salary. He is all over the place. So he is being fed ideals, that he himself don’t know for sure. Obvious sign of immaturity. The FO knows this. Once the contract issue is resolved, it was going to be fine. They were close last year, Bell intimated they were close after the season. So the FO planned accordingly. The plan was all along to have a Bell at least one more year. Regardless. The Tag requires it. Bell only option is to bet on himself to have another solid year like last year. If he plays “down”he hurts his own stock. Regardless what ever he gets paid, he will account Pittsburgh to get compensation under the CBA rules. At least a 3rd. Maybe more. All this talk about a trade, sign and trade, release him...is unrealistic because.....for someone to trade they have to give up premium draft picks AND pay this exorbitant salary that is being demanded. No team is going to do that since they can get him at a lessor risk during FA next year. Bell has put himself in this position and has NO leverage. Not one iota. All he can do is perform and hope he stays healthy. Or sign a long term offer before the 15th of July. Because if he doesn’t he plays under the tag. The only way he gets traded, is if he gets hurt and some team is stupid enough to trade for him...or Pitt trades him before week 8. The latter is doubtful anyway.

There are still options:

Option 1 - Bell's side: Bell's agent can work with the Steelers and clubs to possibly find him a trading partner and terms for an agreeable long term contract. Bell signs the tag early, and the Steelers can negotiate draft picks (not necessarily 2 firsts). as all options would be available for moving his rights.

Option 2 - Steelers side: The Steelers reach out to clubs after the draft and discuss possible trade options once Bell signs the tag the week before the season. Then they immediately move Bell when he signs the tag, for a trade value, not necessarily being 2 first round picks.

Option 3 - The most likely: Bell plays the season on the tag and leaves in FA next year. If this is the case, I'm sure the Steelers will still offer Bell a competitive contract, that he will refuse, and leave to play elsewhere. Giving the Steelers a 3rd rounder, that they hopefully don't use on a Dri Archer caliber player...

Either way, if he chooses option 3, I run the wheels off him...

I think if he doesn't sign before the draft you almost have to draft a RB. Not just for the future. But for the now. When Bell is rusty sitting his *** out of preseason again. You have a RB you can throw into the mix. Not like Ridley or Conner are productive locks starting out the gates.

Really would like to see the Steelers get off to a semi fast start. Drafting a RB would help achieve that IMO. Even if it is say a third rounder....

Cope, I’m still not sure about this trade behind closed doors before the draft, or after really. If comparison to Jarvis Landry is being used, Landry and Miami were playing the flame war with the media and social media. So you knew an ugly divorce was happening and made Miami look like chumps since we can’t afford him, so we will screw him to get him out of here. Of which the Clowns took bait. Bell and his poor me I’m the bad guy victim social media rant was foolish and degrades his attempt to get the money he wants. KC and Art 2 both have said they want Bell as a Steeler......and to me is being patient with his immaturity. In any case, they are getting compensated with his services this year....and yeah...he’s going to break the 400+ touches barrier again....no doubt about that if no long term deal is made.

If one of those solid RBs are there in the 2nd/ 3rd I see a future starter with Connor.

And maybe the drafting of said RB might spur MeVeon into showing up a little earlier to get his touches, going to lead the NFL in yardage from scrimmage to make his value just worthy.

I'm a bitter a-hole, that holds a grudge... I hope Steelers draft a RB in early rounds to replace Bell, in spite of likelihood he'll be here for '18 season. Then, if I were coach, I'd run the wheels off Bell between the 20's... any goal to go situation, regardless of pass or run call, I'd bring in highly drafted rookie to spell Me'Veon (props to originator). Bell's lack of explosiveness to get long breakaway gains, he could conceivably finish with ridiculous low TD total. Anything to get what's needed of him, short of aiding him in generating stats that will benefit his free agency stock.

I'm never going to sincerely wish injury on a player, but I would not put him in a position to capitalize, with the way he's handled himself, though I would not shy from using him, enabling him to preserve his body for prospective suitors in upcoming free agency.

And my feelings are very much reflective of accountability that in 5 seasons, 2 were shortened by suspension over selfish, non-team-1st, behavior.

I would play Bell just like we have in the past...except as someone else stated.... If he doesn't sign until a week before the first game of the season I give someone else the start and the majority of the workload. I would work Bell into game shape. Hopefully, he would be ready to go(start) in a couple of weeks. Depending how our other RB's did would factor into the workload Bell get's from week to week.

LAST year it wasn't until partially game 4, little more in game 5 and then pretty full game 6 so I'd say 1/4 of the season to another RB. All this provided he shows up week one and not week 10.

Does anyone here truly think Bell will sign a long term deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers before July 15 deadline???? TRULY !!!!

I don’t and this is his last year. Be prepared to see him jack the Steelers if he can.

Nope. How can you reach an agreement on a long-term contract when one of the parties involved doesn't even know what they want from one day to the next? We most likely will pick another RB in the draft. It is what it is. If Bell was smart he would return a week or two before the season started and get in game shape sooner rather then later. Have another great season(hopefully it invovles a SB ring) and then hit the open market next off-season.

Fully agree stillwrght. Bell is sealing his fate and following a Vilian persona along the way. He isn't signing for a reason and it isn't possibility of TC INJURY, it's because he would prove his market value is much less than both his asking price and the tag price.

Blount quit on this team. Do you REALLY want to go there? I was at the game where he left the sideline and went to the team bus.

Anyone know anything about this kid James Summers that we have on our roster?

Some say Harrison quit on the team just to get his release. Many justify it. Saying he was promised more. Maybe Blount was lied to also.
