Tyrann Mathieu a possibility?

Rather try Allen before Sutton at Safety

Sutton has shown more than Allen. Allen is more of a developmental type that you wonder if he will make it. I think what Suttton has shown so far is a little more encouraging. For me I think that equals a little more confidence into being able to transfer that into the FS position.

All they need to do is one. Extend Ben. They aren't throwing out second year guaranteed money contracts like every team. So to me their way doesn't mean they will be in cap hell. To me it is just wheeling and dealing within a parameter that ends with them being close to the cap yearly. By not overpaying contracts year after year it saves them from cap hell.

Bell is the one player who has handcuffed them lately, if we want to use the term strapped. But the Steelers seem to think he is worth it. But won't cave in to his ridiculous wants.

The Steelers are smarter than some of these other teams. When they rebuild it will be due to age, and needing influx of new talent. Not because they didn't spend wisely or by restructured contracts.

Simply the majority of their moves come with saving money in some way form or fashion. If not now but down the road. Like not handing out guaranteed boatloads of cash.

and that´s why Honey Badger isn't here. He is a health liability with a high price

Sutton's tape doesn't show a big hitter, don't know if he can handle the safety spot with his frame. But yes, he has shown more in less time healthy

7 mil is a high price? Anyways other S's out there still. Hopefully one finds his way to Pittsburgh.

The Steelers have always conducted offseason signings like this.

They don't overpay for other big names. They restructure their own, and develop through the draft.
I would like to see them break the mold just once and sign a big name FA.

But the organization does have a keen eye when a player will be on a decline.
The team is kinda in a rebuilding mode right now. I'd compare them to the early 2000's Steelers.

Talent and playoff push is there, but something is lacking.
At the time Cowher needed a QB.

The Steelers now, need a stronger defensive unit

Steelers did break the mold last year with Haden. They caught a bad break with Shazier this year. If Shazier was healthy right now, the Steelers
would be sitting pretty with everyone speculating who our #1 to replace Mitchell will be.

The Steelers were getting JJ Wilcox time at SS in practice last year. I believe the current plan is to move Davis to FS and have Wilcox play SS.
You don't pay Wilcox 3 mil plus to not play him. If they could get a better safety in free agency for 3 mil, they likely sign him and cut Wilcox.

Looks like Davis may be in line to be the Mitchell replacement.
I think Wilcox makes it as a backup

No way would I pick up Mitchell again, no matter how cheap he is. He made ZERO plays for us last year. i want him as far away from our roster as possible.

Amen. Hopefully Burnett is on the roster by the end of the day.
