NFL "One Hit Wonders"

I forgot about Hillis lol.

David Tyree is a pretty good one hit wonder as well considering the circumstances

Korfell Stewart Must be on that list. He defined one hit wonder.

He was solid as slash and had two 3000 yard seasons. I think there is enough to say statistically that he wasn't just a one year wonder.

If you are referring to Kordell Stewart, you are way off base. He had several great years in the NFL, most as "SLASH". He definitely
doesn't fit the "one year wonder" stereo type.

Salute the nation

Had to be a millennial who wrote that. There is a clear number one when it comes to one hit wonders. Timmy Smith RB Redskins. He pretty much had 1 big game in his career but it was the Super Bowl where he set a record.

Icky Woods was not a 1 hit wonder. He had a good career until injury. Same with Robert Edwards. Seems unfair to label a guy who had to quit because of injury.

The other major One hit Wonder - Larry Brown CB Cowboys who was fortunate enough to catch O'Donnell's gift flutter balls in SB XXX.

No, he was more of a perennial disappointment. Barry Foster, Lamar Woodley and Kendrell Bell were on hit wonders.

Lamar Woodley had three straight years of double digit sacks before injuries derailed his career. How soon you all forget how good he actually was. Barry Foster is a candidate, although it was injuries that derailed his career as well. He had his monster 1600 yard season, and started the next one off where he left off before the injury bug hit and wouldn't let go. Kendrell Bell was a monster, until again, injuries got the best of him. And he even played through them as much as he could and even made some big timely plays for us while injured. The coaches never should have asked him to put on weight.

Yep, Kendrell Bell's entire career was killed by the coaches telling him to gain weight. That guy was a monster AS IS, WHY you tell a dude like that to change is just beyond me. He was tearing it up, just call the plays and let him go get the qb. I don't think I've ever seen a player since hit the line as hard as he did, and get after a qb with that kind of speed, but it never happened after his first season.

Remember the time he destroyed Mike Alstott on a goal line stand? He was a wrecking ball when heathy.

Kendrell, weight wasn't the issue. His inability to understand the defense was. That's why he was allowed to leave. His rookie season was fabulous because they gave him the simple reads in responsibility. Holmes was the signal caller. After the first year he was required to do more scheme wise and Potsie joined. His sophmore year slumped a bit because being with Farrior and having to know more. His third year he settled in .....but it showed he wasn't picking up the scheme like he should...then he got hurt. Plus Foote was showcasing his ability in practice. His contract year was unfortunale because he was injured again for almost the entire year. Foote replaced him and was sufficient. He moved on to KC which showed his limitations even more.

Just like Deebo, at the time had a hard time understanding the scheme too.
If Bell picked it up, while staying healthy, dude could've been great.

Farrior though. Great career.
But his 2004 season was special

I seem to remember Bell dealing with injuries right in 2002, his second season. I remember him playing through that high-ankle sprain in the Wild Card game against the brownies, and he was an absolute mad-man. If I'm not mistaken, he finished with like 15-20 tackles, and played a huge role in limiting William Green, who had a decent year that season, to like 20 carries for 25 or 30 yards or something. His ankle was jacked right from the start of the year, against the *ats in the opener, and I know he only played like a series or two before leaving the game against the Titans in the Divisional round.

They should do a one hit wonder coach edition, I know just the guy! :cool1:

cmon man

you would have to prove that hit

:biggrin1:
