Bryant for Clinton-Dix? (and other Bryant trade rumors)

Once again, SIGN and Trade for Bell. Got it?

I'm not a capologist, but can you show me how the Steelers could afford both Bell and Dix without cutting starting players and allocating enough cap space to sign the drafted rookies?

I know you're not a capologist, because a sign and trade would kill our cap for years! The only option for moving Bell is a tag and trade.

Once again....you seem to not to grasp the basic concept that Bell will NOT sign anything other than a long term deal before the draft. If tagged and no long term deal is made, he won't sign it until right before the start of regular season. Hence no trade. GOT IT?

No you definitely are not a cap expert, so stop making ridiculous statements regarding it.

Peacock alert!! Coach is trying to take credit for something that never existed.

Mods need to change the title of this thread.

Nowhere in the article does Fowler says Buffalo offered a 4th. Fowler said the team was "likely" offered a 4th rounder, with no team named. He then comments Buffalo (who were trying last year and got Kelvin Benjamin) may try again this year. Just more national correspondents trying to up one another on Twitter...the new way to create stories from nothing.

There was a thread created titled Buffalo offered a 4th rounder for Bryant before the trade deadline.

Ok I'm not trying to help Coach out, I'm just trying to understand...

There is an article on ESPN right now about the Ravens trying to trade for Jarvis Landry who is getting the franchise tag. What is the difference between this and trading Bell?

He can be traded after signing the Franchise tag if tagged, until then he can't be traded. It looks like the new team could then extend him. This pretty much means he has final say on any trade. Not impossible to do but very expensive. We can't force him to sign a new deal and trade him because A we can't and B then we would be on the hook for prorated bonus money. Possible yes highly unlikely with his demands.

Thanks. So if he signs the franchise tag the Steelers have to pay it even if he is traded? A "normal" contract the yearly salary goes with the player (except signing bonuses) right? If so, I could see that being an issue.

Wouldn't the Dolphins have to do the same with Landry?

Sounds too good to be true. I would make that deal in about .001 seconds.

Fixed that for ya, boss - as a matter of fact - why hasn't this happened yet???

Fill the void of Martavis w/ Javon Wims, from GA. Problems solved.

So let it be written - so let it be done...

Can we afford?..

A. He’s on the 5th year option. You would give him a contract extension....like we do with all our previous 1st rounders who got the 5th option.

B. It’s already been opined by the Florio’s and Fowlers that the cap will increase close to 10 million....so that aids in getting FA LB and Safety.

C. Bell CANNOT be TRADED, he’s a UFA. This dream world you live in is unsafe. Wake up.

He may also chose to NOT show up until week 10........

Salute the nation

Right Iron City, but with the franchise $$ pro rated from week 10. He may get the accrued season but not the full tag dollar amount. I don’t think he would pass up 14+ mil.

No I don't believe we would but he would have to sign the Tag first and then he could be traded but with only the promise of a trade and an extension by the new team. Again possible but it seems with his asking price highly unlikely. Probably more likely we do the non exclusive tag and let him try and work it out with us or see what if anything anyone else offers and take the picks if we dont match. He has very little leverage this year if he wants paid the full tag amount or more.

Even if he signs the tag, that doesn't mean they can just trade him. He has to agree to whatever the trade is and that will probably take a long term deal from the other team.
