Wentz/Foles

I think Foles is definitely above average, but not sure if he can carry a team. I think someone will overpay for him due to his playoff success. He could become another Flacco.

Good but not great player who had the right coach, offense line and system to thrive, not so much in other stops with traditional and mediocre OLines.

If this is in any other city, it may not be as big a deal.

Let's assume that the Eagles keep Foles and Wentz is not back at the beginning of the season. So, the SB MVP starts the season and plays lights-out... for six games. Then Wentz comes back... having not been able to take all the reps during camp or the first six games. Let's say he struggles a bit while getting back into form.

How do the Philly fans respond? Remember... this is the same fan base that booed Santa Claus... not just once, but twice! Even going so far as to pelt Saint Nick with snow balls! Remember batteries being thrown at Phillies players? These are just a few remembrances of Philly fandom.

So, again... how do Philly fans respond if my initial scenario comes to pass? Everyone know that the backup QB is ALREADY every teams favorite player in tough times. How does that play out when your backup QB is also the SB MVP winning your ONLY Lombardi Trophy?

I think that the Eagles may trade Foles while the iron is hot... EVEN IF Wentz may not be available at the start of the season. Draft another mid round backup QB and bring in another vet (Case Keenum? Chase Daniel?) to fill in early in the event that Wentz is not available to start the season.

probably....but he will be well paid

NAIL on head. There are a lot of middle teer teams looking for the SB MVP type QB who will pay dearly and take the chance. Like many have said, NOW is his brightest value. If you are going to trade you should get a 2nd & 5th at the very least & possibly a player.

Salute the nation

I agree with this although alot of people pretty much thought the Seahags were set up for a long run of multiple trophies after beating Manning /Broncos ...

True. But the eagles dont seem to have this over-arching disposition of arrogance that we saw (and still see) with Seattle, but yeah, people did see them winning multiple trophies (shouldve at least had that 2nd one)

Foles played better than Wentz would have in the playoffs. There. I said it.

Possible. As Wentz would have went in experience green. And possibly made some errors along the way. I would say a probable but at the same time sometimes a improbable happen. Like a backup QB winning a SB.

Watching Wentz a handful of times, I'm not so sure he would have played much worse or better than Foles. It looks like that offense caters to their abilities. Both made good decisions and throws when needed. I was impressed more with Foles than I was with Wentz, how he came in and they really didn't miss a beat. I do agree though, Foles could go to another team and be so-so or continue his good play. They have a good situation there however they proceed.

I think Philly fans may actually chill a bit with a Superbowl win and the youngest franchise QB with a chance for more.

DIC, I wouldn't move a SB MVP for anything less than a first and another high pick (2nd or future 1st).

Also our team would be very formidable on offense if we had Bell running with an RPO offense. Play actions would be wide open. That would be the only positive of having Foles as a QB.

Todd scoffs at your RPO and play action suggestions. From all the way over in Cleveland.

Foles is not worth 2 first rounders. He has been good and bad in his career so far. I would never pay him as a top QB right now. He is still a backup QB that could start on some teams but not mine.
