Don't want or need an over the hill linebacker. Go back to the draft and work from there. There's a reason we let him walk instead of signing him.

well if you read above I'm not annointing (sp?) him a starter, just vet depth above current (Moats, Dirty Red, Spence)
 
Was never a fan of Vince and we might have to plan for a D without Shazier...Timdong could certainly bridge the gap and be useful over the other backups at that position. If he's cheap that is. Still would be lacking 2 starting ILBs.

Its still a no. No need to live in the past. Lets go get a kid in the draft and hope they can come in and play right away.

Why not do both? Bring in Timmons for depth to push out Spence (who we literally signed off the street) and then draft a youngin to compete. Win/win

He is way better than those backing up Williams

We tried that with Debo and look at the bullshit it left behind. They need to hit another homerun in the draft early at MLB or sign someone else. No need to go back to the past with Timmons. We've moved on.

We can sign someone else, but will they be better than Timmons? I'm good with drafting someone, but will he be ready more than LT? Do we have time for him to develop in '18 and '19? The window is closing fast for this team to win in the next two years. We'll see how their grand plan unfolds.
 
Timmons coming back would be a huge savings in what we were paying him. A $10M LB coming back for 3-4M? In a heartbeat. Plus he's like 8 years younger than Debo...
 
I liked him. But I think there are better, younger, cheaper options out there.

Honestly,, the only way I consider that, is vet minimum. Also no gaurentee position. He fights it out with everyone at camp. Meanwhile, I draft an ILB for shaziers spot, and bring in another FA to fight it out .
 
Timmons is no longer a 10 million dollar LB, he'll be 32 in May, he couldn't cover before he left, so I doubt that changed.
Harrison played a position where he just had to play one side and could be used as strictly a pass rusher, Timmons has to play sideline to sideline and is too easily manipulated into a coverage mis-match.
