Where was big play Gay?

Not at corner or slot he isn't anymore. Maybe he would have been an improvement at FS in coverage but I think his big play days are about gone.
 
You can't be serious. Gay gave up big plays even in the little time he did play this year. He will be cut. With Hilton and Sutton, there is no reason to keep him around any longer.
 
It's the off-season. Get used to random threads. The Harrison thread made me revisit. I think we needed some football IQ back there and he would have helped a lot IMO. Veteran savvy not used properly.

Yeah, Gay is likely gone unless he can play FS as the Steelers like what they have in Hilton and Sutton and obviously didn’t want to risk someone snagging Brian Allen as they carried him on the 53 man once he got called up.

Gay "sorta" played the Shazier role in our nickel defense so that he could get players where they needed to be. However, as it was in '16,'15, and '14, Gay was nowhere to be found in the middle of the field. I swear, whenever he's on the field, the opposition immediately goes to him, and he gives up the catch, followed with a decent run-after-catch. Last time I can think he made any play was three years ago when he picked off McCarron during the regular season. Dude is toast. I would've rather seen them throw Brian Allen out there, and see what he was capable of.
 
It doesn't matter WHO they field when Clown-**** is calling the defense.
 
Gay wasn't better than Burns, Haden or Hilton. Maybe if they transitioned him to safety he'd have a chance to see the field on a more regular basis. I don't know if he can play the position, but I'd consider him for a stopgap starter/backup because he's like a coach on the field. We need more guys like that on the defensive side.

I pandered for this through out part of the season.................. Specially late season.
If Mitchell is told to get the **** off the property, Gay might be retained (cheaply) for one last season.
