Hypothesis from Alex Marvez NFL "insider" if Tomlin doesn't regain "institutional control" of this team.

So there could be a plan. Munchak passes on a head coaching opportunity, and is next in line when Tomlin " unleashes hell " upon himself.

After the reports of actions allowed by Tomlin he should be gone today. Tomlin has no control of the kids he allows to run amuck, Tomlin has squandered the time of good talent the Steelers have. Tomlin does have a nice vocabulary on Monday mornings.

Munchak seems to be the type who is just happy coaching the O-line. I think this more hyp than othesis.

Munch prolly only want oline job. HC likely too much headache.

I don't know how well Munchak will do but I still wish "Tomlin out, Munch IN" was yesterday's headline.!!!!!!!

Salute the nation

Ben said something close to the guys really respect Munchak and the gold jacket really helps. A shot at Haley or Tomlin who did not play in the NFL? Perhaps.

I heard that too and we need to Remeber that this team is a hell of a lot more stacked than that Titan team he coached earlier in his career. He just has to do a little bit better on the planing / disciplinary part of coaching. That is of course if all other aspects of coaching remain the same / practices / scouting / motivation / ego / etc.etc. but I think Munch would handle all that part quite well. PEOPLE here would be happy

Players are going to respect coaches who earn respect, gold jacket or not. Look at Sean McVay and what he did in his first year in LA http://www.espn.co.uk/blog/los-angeles-rams/post/_/id/36065/how-sean-mcvay-changed-the-rams-culture. It's no mistake that he changed a perennial loser under Jeff Fisher into a playoff team in his first year.

As far as Munchak goes, count me in the crowd that believes he's fine with being an offensive line coach at this point of his career. I don't know how long he wants to coach, but he is one of the best in the business and probably has a job in Pittsburgh until he wants to retire, no matter who the HC is.

As long as Tomlin doesn't go 5-11 or worse 5 years in a row he will have a job for life. You don't start an affirmative action program in the NFL and then fire your affirmative action hire.

Yawn.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,meh. SMH

I thought Tomlin was a receiver in the NFL.

Which has always bugged me. How does a receiver get in to coaching and call himself a "defensive" specialist?

He was a receiver at William and Mary. Never played in the NFL.

We can only hope

We've already missed out on 2 or maybe 3 Super Bowls dealing with Tomlin. Bens time is running out.
What a shame most any good coach would have easily won 3 Or 4 Superbowls with this group

Munch already coached for one shiity organization.......that is why he didn't take the AZ jerb.

He WOULD take over the reigns of a stable first class organization.

I have no doubt

There is a reason he interviewed for the AZ jerb only to decline the 2nd.

Let's hope he got the same deal as Butler did

Lets hope not. Butler had to wait several years for his promised coordinator position, we don't want MT around that long.

Even after that long wait, it appears that Butler is just a figurehead....ACINO: a coordinator in name only

It sounded to me like Munch turned down Arizona because he didn't want to move. Maybe kids only have a few years of HS left and they want to stay.

Munch didn't get a fair shake as head coach. They drafted Jake Locker as a QB and he was pretty much tied to him. Locker showed flashes but was always injured, so the Titans limped through a few seasons without a QB. Locker retired young due to injuries. Munch got fired without ever having a decent QB or a chance to draft a second.

That is too bad. Too bad he can't take Ben for a spin.
