Can we knock it off with this stupid ******* line already? I think it's pretty obvious these guys are adults, most of them anyway, and they are going to have an opinion on things. A coach or coaches listening to that is what should happen. This team went 13-3, and had a **** game against the Jags, TWICE. While I'm *** pissed off as anyone about how the season ended, it was a 13-3 season, and these players are some damn good players, especially on offense.

Ben is going to be back for a few more years, and I'd say he's earned the right to not be yapped at by some dickbag ex golf douche on the ******* sideline. How many ******* rings does Toddy boy have again? I think Ben should have been calling his own ******* plays for at least the past 3 years, but again, that's my opinion and I don't run the show.

Back to the point at hand, this whole inmates **** is disrespectful as ****, and if I were a player and my fans were using it, I'd kindly tell them all to go **** themselves. But then again, if I were Ben I'd have left town right after all the Millidgeville **** and the "draft Bradford" yizer ********* came out of the woodwork, so what do I know.

You ever have a boss that doesn't ******* listen to word you say, and tells you to do it his way or get the **** out without caring at all what you think? Yep, I have too, and I got the **** out of there. It's a **** analogy that's filled with telling guys who are some of the best in the world at what they do to shut the **** up and just run, and it doesn't work in the NFL, it works in college because those guys have no choice.

While I agree that it's disrespectful to expect an employer to be dictators and employees to be robots, I don't think that's what we're talking about here. From the perspective a fan who watches, it appears as though this team immaturely allows its talent and success get to its head, so they stop worrying about fundamentals, the little things, and approaching each and every game with urgency. They often times focus on their own individual images/brands. They talk smack recklessly. The actual game play feels disjointed, with penalties, mental gaffes, miscommunications, etc. which can all be traced back to that lack of discipline/maturity and disregard for fundamentals and technique. So yeah, there is definitely a line between "respecting the players opinions and needs" and allowing an arrogance and lack of focus to take hold without being checked.

And for the record, I have thought this about our team for years if anyone cares to dig up my old posts on the matter. It's been fairly obvious to me and to others too. It's just in the national conversation now. There is nothing wrong with saying Tomlin needs to set a better tone, needs to demand more maturity/professionalism/focus from his guys, and needs to impose better discipline. That's not to say he doesn't respect them or care what they think, but it's doing what's best for the organization as a whole.

In any business, the CEO (Tomlin, in this analogy) needs to strike a delicate balance between the needs of the shareholders (Art 2 + other owners), the needs of the employees (the players), and the needs of the customers (the fans). If the CEO goes too far in any of the 3 directions, he will bankrupt the company. I think right now, the employees are too fat and happy at the expense of the others, and need to be reminded that they have to earn their pay, earn Ws on the field, earn playoff positioning, earn SB appearances, and earn Lombardi trophies. That's all

Bingo! Coughlin isn't the easiest guy to get along with, but if his meeting starts at 6 then you're late if you're not there by 5:55, and he's been pretty successful

Yeah blah blah blah indeed. Great timing on this thread, Joe. If it isn't obvious to you by now, that this franchise has serious issues that need to be addressed, then you're ******* blind or willfully ignorant
 
Sometimes being a players coach has some disadvantages. Execution on the field requires execution in practice. If guys are showing up late or aren't practicing then what you see on the field reflects that. Its a valid concern. We all wonder if we replace X coach with so and so how this team will perform. The game planning and adjustments in game need to be better than they are. We win a lot of games because we have a very talented team and great individual play makers.

That 13-3 season doesn’t mean ****! They got out coached and outplayed.... again when it counts.

I'd tell them this is how we run things. If you don't like it bye. I would make sure that was known before I ever hired or drafted them. You don't see the pats***** putting up with any **** do you. No ******* drama at all. This is what it is. Do your job. Save the drama for the soap opera's. Cheating or not they do not **** around and they don't let the inmates run the asylum.
 
no such thing as, TEAM, with this club. It's all individuals. Led by nobody.
Start by getting rid of the coach, then get someone in that will worry about one day/game at a time. And punish the player that isn't on that page. By, not playing him.

Didn't he also lighten his approach before he won anything? I seem to remember players calling him out publicly (Michael Strahan sticks out), pretty much telling him that he needed to tone it down. If I'm not mistaken, he was pretty close to getting the boot in New York before he did alter his attitude, and they won the Super Bowl. I'm sure he still demanded a certain level of discipline from his players to a certain extent, but I think they also respected his ability to change with them, and not be a complete hard ***. The "run-til-you-puke-because-you're-in-trouble" days are over. Now, you'll just find yourself out on your *** until a new team comes a calling. See; Legarrete Blount.
 
Those 13 wins and a token will get Tomlin on the subway. Big deal.
 
You can’t be buddy-buddy with your players. The greatest coaches,for the most part, were pricks. Lombardi, Noll, Jimmy Johnson, Belichick, Parcells,Landry, Saban. You can’t hang out with your players... you can’t let your wife become friends with their wives. It clouds your judgement when it comes time to make decisions on what players you should keep and who you should let go. Your probably not gonna cut a guy or even lean on him a little bit if you know your wife and his wife are pals. **** like that. I think that’s Tomlin’s biggest problem.

Agree.... those 13 wins are all laying on the cutting room floor.... don’t mean **** except for guaranteeing a low draft pick.
 
We still aren't in it for participation trophies. We are the only 1 and 2 seed sitting our ******* *** home this weekend. And it tastes like ****. All year it was some drama filled occurrence. You can blow it off as a inconsequential distraction(s). But team unity goes a long way into winning it all. Focus, heart, and determination. And then putting your players in the best position to win. This coach is tugging them in this direction. And that coach is tugging them in that direction. You are thinning their preparation, and the results speak for themselves.

No this upcoming year sit them the **** down, and say no more this and no more that. Focus on assignments,and unity. Tomlin while you are schooling them, school yourself on how not to **** up cohesiveness on defense. You want your stamp on something, mail a ******* letter. Uncle Joe Bob Sally wants to know why your chiche doesn't translate into the field of play. That should be good for a few 100 pages of game on the line decisions, why mine suck.

You ever have an employee who goes on social media and blabs a bunch of negative stuff about your company? Who doesn't show up the day before the biggest day of the year for your company? Who lets your competitors know what your plans are before you are able to get them out to market?

Yes, they're grown men but as a coach you have a right and a duty to insist on discipline, unselfishness and work ethic.

Blah blah blah....we are missing that something to get us over the hump. The same hump that the Pats roll over ever year. It is pretty clear the difference between the 2 teams. Just open your eyes.
 
I think using grown men is a bit of a stretch. A lot of players are young kids who act like spoiled brats with a sense of entitlement. Not saying everyone is like this, but it only takes a few per team to cause problems. At my work we used to have this one lady who just like to stir things up. When she was around you could just feel the tension and it just made everyone uncomfortable. Once she quit it felt like a giant weight was lifted off our shoulders. When you have guys like Bell and Mitchell mouthing off i am sure a lot of others feel uncomfortable. Whay makes it especially disappointing is i thought they works band together and be hyper- focused for Shazier, but seems like we have some unbelievably selfish players/ coaches.
I know at my work we can get fired for social media stuff, showing up late, etc etc....Steelers are supposed to be professionals and they are certainly not acting like it and a lot of that falls on tomlin. He seems too worried about being buddy buddy with the guys than being the coach. Someone needs to putt their foot down and instill some structure and discipline.

This team is missing something. Could it be something as simple as something called discipline?... I would say yes.
