Todd Haley out in Pittsburgh

Defensive guys were told their jobs are safe, but yaaaaaa hooooo Haley is gone. It’s a step in the right direction.

But as former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians discovered, plans could also change

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has told his defensive coaches he is not going to make any changes and intends to bring that portion of his staff back next season, per a team source.

But as former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians discovered after the 2011 season, that could also change.

Arians was told by Tomlin on two separate occasions after a season-ending playoff loss to the Denver Broncos he would be re-hired as offensive coordinator. But that all changed several days later when the Rooneys declined to offer him a new contract, announcing he had retired.

That led to the hiring of Todd Haley as offensive coordinator.

Defensive coordinator Keith Butler, who replaced Dick LeBeau after the 2014 season, has two years remaining on his contract and does not appear in jeopardy of losing his job, anyway.

Too bad his contract didn't expire a few weeks ago

I knew Haley was gone the very second that Ben announced he was coming back next year and it was leaked that he wants to play 3 more seasons. I believe that was the condition he gave Mr. Rooney in order for him to come back. I think their relationship has deteriorated to the point where it's not at all productive and Ben is done.

Going right along with that I think Fichtner is his replacement because he and BB are tight. That may have well been another of Ben's conditions to Art II.

With Munch turning down the Cardinals second interview, I would not be surprised to see him named OC/Assist. HC.

My thought is Fichtner becomes OC and Ben is going to love his spread offense he ran at Memphis. Munchak becomes Assistant Head Coach which puts him next in line if we have another **** show like we did last week. If Tomlin can correct the ship back on track it just puts Munch in position to choose his head coaching job elsewhere.

Haley was the guy that got rid of the seven step drops that were getting Ben sacked 45 times a season, so there's that we can thank him for. I agree with the Fichtner OC/Munchak AHC or AOC role theory. I'd guess the playbook itself stays very much the same for the most part. They'll just edit out the stuff in the current playbook they don't want to use anymore.

Kirby Wilson is considered a candidate for the position previously held by Tequila Todd.

I think after Ben gave his low down on some of these short yardage plays Haley did get to much blame. His side of ball scored 42 points yet Butler seems safe giving up 45 . Defense wins in play offs and our defense could not have stopped toast from burning against Jags. How many games did we see the offense had to come back to win and the defense laid down. Tomlin will still be giving us his we look forward to the challenge speeches when he continues to not step up to the challenges.

Injuries get coaches passes and above Shazier, several defensive starters seemed to have some pretty big bumps and bruises... plus they don't have a history of getting in confrontations with tgeir own players

Funny how those of us who "*****" seem to be proven right over the long haul

Don't kid yourself or pat yourself on the back too hard. This was the agreement between Ben and Art II for Ben to agree to come back and play a few more seasons because he was sick of fighting with Haley all the time.
