With a different D coach, and a ILBer and FS brought in and doubling up in the draft, might help out

So my takes on Coach Mike Tomlin...
1. Unless the minority owners force it, his job is safe for the next year
2. The minority owners own more of the team than the Rooneys and could force a change if adament enough.
3. Tomlin will be on the hot seat regardless next year
4. Head coaches get too much blame for strategy blunders, but the Steelers lack discipline and cohesiveness which can be directly laid at a head coach's feet
5. He has to let go of his obsession with style and pedigree and not play favorites
6. He isn't as bad as some here think and would be a valuable trade piece if the Steelers were to utterly change their historical approach to such things
7. He is still extremely young for a hc and has lots of room to grow
8. Sometimes coaches just are tuned out and stale and you have to move on
9. Sometimes head coaches change their approach later and have late career success ala Bill Cowher
10. The other thing is sometimes head coaches have a ton of success and its tied to the players not the coach...
see Dan Bylsma with the Pens... won a championship his first year.. annually made the playoffs and had an astounding regular season record

If you need hof talent at every position with pro bowl level backups to win, well start looking at coaching as a area to improve
The main shctick with the Pens right now.
The GM and HC correlation doesn't play favorites.
Of course you're gonna start and get the most out of your super star players.
Of course it's different in hockey than football.
But if Tomlin needs to bench a guy and give an unknown a shot.
Do it.
That's why Sullivan has out performed Bylsma. No clear favorites.
Proven guys(Cole, Sheary, etc) have been in the dog house before.
That's what the Steelers need.
Talent is there.
Locker room attitude isn't.
These next few seasons will be telling for Steelers football.
If no super bowl is delivered. I do see a possible head coaching change
And thats assuming that other teams don't also appreciably improve. For instance, what happens in the Jaguars get Cousins and a free agent WR in the off season?

I'll be honest. I'm done with Tomlin. He has a million cliche's and holds everyone else accountable. But does what about it? He is the one to set the culture. He is the one to grind his coordinators into champs. He is the one to have his players built up and coached up. He is the one to evaluate the opponent and play to their weaknesses.
I just don't see it. I hear talk. I see a mediocre team with more talent than most teams.

bingo. even good coaches have an expiration date. he served us well for the majority of his time here, to this point. the steelers would be wise to at least start brainstorming on how/when they'll be moving on, and to whom they'll moving on to.

That is why they are the HC, they are RESPONSIBLE for EVERYTHING. If the coaches below them are not getting it done, it is up to the HC to see that they do or replace them. MT seems to want to be their friend, instead of their boss.

Some people will just not admit what they are doing is not working, they will continue to hold on because their ego won't let them admit it.

You don't keep a coach or player because of what he did years ago
Like I said so dramatically a couple of weeks ago about Tomlin when they released Harrison "He's dead to me." That was my way of saying I'm done with him. That was before the Jag loss. That only solidified my resolve that Tomlin is not the guy to lead (haha) this team. He is not a leader.

good old Ed Bouchette, Tomlin's lap dog. Fittipaldo has much better and unbiased analysis of the situation.

Many have commented on the recent yahoo.com article which defends Tomlin in the wake of the minority owners request to have him fired. The comments are OVERWHELMINGLY in favor of a Tomlin firing. In fact many Patriots fans gleefully chimed in regarding their satisfaction with Tomlin as head coach of the Steelers. Patriot fans do not want Tomlin fired under any circumstance. The only other fans that said the Steelers should keep Tomlin were a Browns fan and a Jets fan. Of course their reasons were different than the Patriot fans. They actually think Tomlin is a good coach. So for all of you who defend Tomlin, know that you have the Patriots, Jets and Browns fans in your corner. That should tell you something. Actually giving up 38 points to Bortles led Jaguar offense that struggled to score ten against the Bills should have told you something. Single covering Gronk 4 times on the final drive of the Patriots game should have also told you something. The Pats fans of course would want Tomlin retained. Same as the Steelers fans want The Bengals to retain Starvin Marvin and the Browns to keep Huey.

I personally give Todd Bowles a huge pat on the back after this season, they played their ***** off, played a lot of teams really tough, and won more games than anyone thought they would before the season.
I'm hoping their staff get raided and they have to hire both coordinators and some position coaches. Don't know how much it will matter, but I'd still like to see it.
