Great read and I for one am very glad to this point that he is staying put. I've said it over and over he is the real deal and has helped Coach Cool Shades stay relevant along the way.

Who knows, maybe he's satisfied with his role of working with the offensive line. I'd imagine the workload is significantly less and the microscope not as focused. Should be a very interesting offseason.
 
We are going to need Munchak.......Championship football is built on a foundation of fundamentals and talent. He certainly knows the fundamentals of football in the trenches.

Maybe they promised they'll let Ben run the ball on 4th and 1 and that pushed him into staying.
 
if he went to Arizona, he'd not have **** to work with and likely be fired after two years. They'd likely draft a QB in Round 1 this year and expect their rookie QB to duplicate DeShaun Watson's success. Fitz is long in the tooth and won't be there much longer. Other than David Johnson, there's not much talent.
 
From what I know, this has nothing to do with him taking the OC job. I assume he's getting a raise out of this.. likely Randy Fichtner will be the next OC. I'd be shocked if Haley is replaced and it isn't him.

Nope, same old **** defense will be back next year. We get to look forward to more 2DL on the goal line again.

Unfortunately alot of that isn't even Butler, it's Tomlin. The way we play defense is not how Butler likes to coach, he's way more aggressive than this.
Our best pure pass rusher, rushed the passer on only 25% of the snaps he played, the other 75% he was in coverage and he's an OLB, that's mind boggling.

You watch NE this weekend, they'll give Bortles zero respect, they'll man cover their wr's with no help over the top and just smash the LOS to stop the run with everyone else. They'll play the run on the way to the QB and give Bortles zero time and zero easy throws. I hope I'm dead wrong. That's what we did vs Tebow, we played afraid of him, instead of attacking him.
We were trailing in the 4th needing the ball back and we still had Mitchell 20 yards off the LOS.

Mitchell played for us vs Tebow ? I could have sworn it was Ryan Clark that was our starter (Ryan Mundy played due to Clarks sickle cell condition)

I was referring to the Jax game Sunday, we need a stop to get the ball back and we are putting Mitchell 20 yards downfield.

The more Tomlin has taken over the defense and the more we draft and morph into a hybrid of his Tampa-2, the worse our defense gets. We went from routinely having the top 3 rated defense in the NFL down to the middle of the pack. With a "defensive minded" HC.

If he wants to do that then we need to draft for that, we need a real pass rushing DE, 6'6" 280 lbs, etc. We have 3-4 linemen right now.

As much as I love Munchak as the oline coach, making him offensive coordinator scares me, has he ever done it before?? I know he failed as a head coach....

Assistant head coach/oline coach and a raise sounds good to me
