Buccaneers have granted offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford an indefinite leave of absence, per @Edwerderespn.

I wonder why the leave of absence and how much, if any, this will affect their team coming into this week's game? Seems to be a bit of a train wreck going on down there.

* Edit: It appears the leave of absence is for medical reasons

yeah, he had some medical procedure done just a couple weeks ago.
seems like a nice guy.

probably explains why they had McCown starting over Glennon, too.

Exactly the kind of motivation the Steelers tend to play down to... a team trying to "win one for the Gipper."

I think this information, and I pray that Coach Tedford gets better soon, is going to be in our favor. Neither QB scares me from Tampa...

What ever is their case, we just can't QUIT. Did the Chinese quit when we let then bomb Pearl Harbor, did the red coats call it a day after Gettysburg (sp), did I quit banging your high school sweetheart after the first time... Hell NO. Our team needs to keep fighting and not give up or play down to their level. Harry S. Truman once said " One small step for man, One giant leap for man kind" I hope our steelers leap and bound over these buccaneers come sunday !!!!!!

And now we wait for the doofus who doesnt get this reference and says, "hey! The germans never bombed pearl harbor derpity derp!"

I wish the Steelers' offensive coordinator would take a definite leave of absence. Like as in forever.

the offense is putting up more points than it has for quite a while and you don't like the oc. Somewhere is a post on this sight showing us leading the nfl in yards per game or something like that. This offense is beginning to score points, you don't like that?

With this secondary I think the Steelers will have to bring their A game all season.

But they can be thankful that the schedule is a little soft, perhaps the corners can work themselves into better performances.............

Slash, I think you are on to something. With playing time I do feel they will step up their play. We are fortunate for the soft part of our schedule and the Bye where it is. Our schedule is conducive for this team. I hope for steady improvement with each game. Adversity works in many ways, here's to hoping it works positively in our case.

Bell looks great, no doubt about it. But most of the yards he gets, he has to manufacture himself...it's not some playcalling wizardry from Todd Haley. Ben rarely throws the ball more than ten yards down the field with any success. And realistically, after 8 quarters of futility, the offense ended up scoring 30 points (26 really, if Carolina stays onside during a field goal attempt). Four field goals, and a late garbage TD drive with about five minutes left. So, when you break it down, they had one meaningful touchdown "drive," (which included the 81-yard run by Bell) to their credit. You like that?

Smart of Tedford, and the team, to address his health issue.

All youns guys 40-plus: Get a heart scan and carotid-artery scan (both are painless and inexpensive). It could save your life (it did mine).

Every day the obituaries are filled with the phrases "died suddenly" and "died unexpectedly." Ninety percent of the time those deaths are due to heart attack or stroke. And nearly all are preventable.
