The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped past 25000 for the first time Thursday, possibly notching the fastest 1,000-point gain in its history, should it close above that mark.

The blue-chip index, which heavily weights industrial giants like Boeing Co. and Caterpillar Inc., was recently up 97 points, or 0.4%, at 25019.

Thursday’s moves marked the latest feat for a rally that has repeatedly wrong-footed skeptics and sent stock indexes around the world to multiyear highs. The Dow industrials hit five thousand-point milestones last year, its most such records in its 120-year history.

A GBH research note signals that Apple is set to bring back approximately $200 billion of its $252 billion foreign cash portfolio as a result of tax breaks that the company will now receive.

With Apple & Cook set to repatriate roughly $200 billion of cash based on our estimates we believe accelerated buybacks, another dividend hike, and potentially larger M&A will be the trifecta of benefits shareholders could expect to see in 2018.

The unemployment rate remained 4.1 percent for a third straight month, the lowest level since 2000, the Labor Department said Friday.

Obviously it's just that Obama's polices are now showing the results they were designed to accomplish and Trump is taking the credit. That's the standard answer when anything economic, jobs, or anything else starts to look like it's a positive thing that might help people.

President Trump orders expanded broadband access in rural U.S.

President Donald Trump unveiled an agriculture initiative to bring broadband Internet to rural areas of the United States during a speech Monday in Tennessee.

Trump signed two executive orders after addressing the American Farm Bureau Federation's annual convention in Nashville in response to a report by the Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural prosperity.

"Those towers are going to go up and and you're going to have great, great broadband," Trump told the crowd.

The stock market is going crazy. 25300.!! I am not sure about the rest of you but this has changed my thought process for when I am going to retire. sold a bit in Dec. just to make sure I capture the growth. this is an amazing run.

The average monthly reading for the index in 2017 was 104.8, the highest for any year in its history.

(Reuters) - Alabama will be the site of a new $1.6 billion Toyota Motor Corp and Mazda Motor Corp auto plant, a victory for President Donald Trump who had prodded manufacturers to build new U.S. facilities and threatened tariffs on foreign production

The plant, which will employ up to 4,000 people and produce about 300,000 vehicles a year, will be located in Huntsville, Alabama, and is a boon for the state, where Toyota has a large engine plant and an existing network of automotive suppliers.

Trump Administration drops plan for oil and gas drilling off Florida

Five days after the Trump Administration announced plans to open almost all coastal areas of the United States to new oil and gas exploration, the Interior Secretary announced that the feds will take possible drilling “off the table” along the coastline of Florida, after facing opposition from the Governor of Florida, a key ally of the President.

“I am removing Florida from consideration for any new oil and gas platforms,” Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke said, after a short meeting with Gov. Rick Scott at the airport in Tallahassee.

Scott had spoken out strongly against the drilling plan last week, which envisioned the possibility of drilling along the entire coast, from Fernandina Beach in the northeast, south to Key West, and all along the Gulf Coast to Pensacola.
