Arizona requests to talk to Munchak

Lebeau was only a HC in Cincinnati.
Munch in Tennessee and Gilbride was never a HC

Sorry,

I thought lebeau was a head guy in Buffalo for a year or two, but was only asst HC.

My age still associates Houston with Tennessee thus my slash mark.

Although I had the team wrong, Gilbride was a HC. (San Diego 97-98)

Steelers need to promote Munchak into AHC or OC. Arizona needs to look elsewhere to fill their coaching needs. Asshats!

They are also looking elsewhere - they have also asked for permission to interview a number of co-ordinators including Shurmur, Schwartz, Patricia, De Filippo and possibly Wilks according to tweets from Rapaport and Garafolo.

Can’t we just give Haley a Swingline stapler and send him to the basement.... hell just keep paying him. Just keep him away from a headset and play calling.

I see what you did there.

Munch had a sub-.500 record in three years with the Titans.

makes me feel a little better, I guess. Still don't want to lose Munch.

Tomlin just said they did give approval for AZ to interview Munchak. No other assistants have requests to be interviewed.

The NFL Network reported Monday night that the Arizona Cardinals have asked for permission to interview Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak for their vacant head coaching position.

Munchak has been the offensive line coach since 2014. He had been the head coach of the Tennessee Titans from 2011-13.

Bruce Arians retired earlier Sunday after coaching the Cardinals for five seasons. The Cardinals finished the season with an 8-8 record and in third place in the NFC West.

Arians was 49-30-1 in his five-year tenure.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was asked about Munchak during a conference call with Houston reporters last month when it appeared the Texans job might be in play.

“It’s about what Mike wants,” Tomlin said. “I think a guy who’s as talented as he is and has the resume that he has will have choices, and the choices are his.

“He needs no endorsement from me. It can be displayed in a lot of ways, the development of the men, the production of the men, the fact that we have three of our offensive linemen elected to the Pro Bowl. Mike does an awesome job.”

This would be a huge loss.

You can't deny permission when it's a clear promotion. Even if you could, a team that did that would soon find few quality coaches willing to work for them.

I thought that interviewing coaches on playoff teams waited until the team's season was over, to avoid distraction.

If someone is interested in Hailey, I would let them know he is available right now.

Haley going somewhere is wishful thinking I think. His stats don't make me think they will be shipping him off any time soon. And I am not sure outside of cleve-hole if anyone would think he is head coach worthy.

I agree with you, just let everyone know he can be had TODAY.

Cardinals Request Interview with OL Coach

The Cardinals are once again looking to take from the Steelers coaching tree as they look for a replacement for Bruce Arians. Arians retired yesterday after three seasons as the head coach of the Cardinals. This time they have requested to interview offensive line coach Mike Munchak. Munchak came over to the Steelers after the […]

When you coach one of the best units in the league you get opportunities.

is this another forced retirement for Arians?

Munch didn’t get a fair shake as HC for the Titans. They drafted Jake Locker at QB and he was constantly injured and then when healthy he was bad and just retired due to injuries. That’s was basically Munch’s whole tenure.

Arians gets all this credit as a great coach, but he inherited a Super Bowl caliber team and he managed a slow decline. He let that top notch defense fall apart and each season they got softer and softer.

Munch makes sense because the strength of that team should be RB David Johnson. If Munch can work his magic on the Arizona OL as he did in Pittsburgh, the Arizona should be a top rushing team next year. That alone will help the defense get back on track.

unfortunately for Munch, he’d be in the same boat as in Tenn, hitching his fortune to a young QB, either a draft pick or maybe a trade for a young backup.

Vikes have a choice to make. Do they go back to Bradford or Bridgewater, or do they stick with Keenum? Whichever one they choose, the other 2 will likely be available.

Will the Chiefs trade Alex Smith? They spent a high pick on Mahomes. Can’t see them benching him next year unless Alex Smith wins the Super Bowl this year.

What about Kirk Cousins? I’m still not sure about him. His stats look great but how many actual games have you seen of him? Watch a game and he seems streaky. Not sure i’d hitch my franchise to him.

I'll never understand this boards hate/dislike for Cousins. I think he is a very good QB. I've seen him play, and I've seen who he plays with. Can anyone name one of his WR's?

I actually have liked him, but my future like for a free agent QB.....upon Ben's retirement has cooled.

His INT and fumble rate was up this year. If we want INTs and fumbles we can simply stick with porn stache.
