One outta 3 ain't bad.

Swollen headed Ben is being shredded on the morning shows for the fake spike - and rightly so

"Brady would never have thrown that int"

"Ben's ego got in the way of the tie"

I agree. Drop the 5 wide and return to 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

You're on to something here Spike.

Yeah we shpuld have kicked the field goal and let Gronk beat us in OT... much better than taking the kill shot that failed cause the reciever was held....

Game over, season over, playoffs done with no AB

Thanks swollen headed Ben - he's our very own Andy Dalton now, throwing into triple coverage got the best receiver in the game crippled and then lost the game - perfect end to the season

Go Jags

I think you need to listen to what Spike is saying here. The days of 5 wide are gone. In order to win in this league you need to pound the ball and hope like hell the owners have decided it's "your year".

But whatever you do,don't waste your money on receivers and QBs. That's clearly stupid. Good call Spike.

Brown hasn’t missed a regular-season game in more than five years.

Thanks swollen headed Ben

Losing Brown is undoubtedly devastating. However, we had him last year in the AFCCG and it didn't fare too well. Bell is the most important piece of this offense. Not only that, but we have absolutely no idea the extent of Brown's availability; he should be back at some point.

Spike you used to like the 5 wide thing and now you've completely turned away. I understand. You're angry that Roethlisberger threw to Brown in the EZ. What's even worse is he hit Brown in the hands, potentially injuring his fingers too.

Why can't he just embrace your 3 n' A HALF YARDS *******!!! ?

Can't blame Ben, We got beat by our own coaches last night. Period. New England is still laughing at the decision not to spike the ball. I really feel for our players, they played their hearts out and Tomlin and Haley lost it for them in the end.
Perfect example of how you beat your own team with poor coaching.
If Bill Bellichek was coaching us we win that game. Everyone knows this.
I can't stand Terry Bradshaw but he is right about Tomlin being a ****** coach.
I fully expected to lose this game until the end, when our own guys made sure we had no chance.
Disgusted but totally use to this feeling by now. OWNED AGAIN

This is stupid. If the clock was stopped, do we go for the field goal on third down? We still had an opportunity for another play, and you absolutely take the chance to win when you can. However, you're not giving anyone a chance when you force a pass into a spot that's filled with nothing but white jerseys. Ben had no business throwing that football anywhere but out of bounds no matter how many of you want to blame the coaching staff.

It was a 3rd down play. Whatever happened next, it would have been 4th down. That's why Haley was telling Ben not to clock it.

If Ben clocks it or throws it away the only option you have left is the FG attempt.

1st down was the overturned TD.

2nd down the pass to DHB. Clock is running.

3rd down, You can spike, or run a play. (They chose to run a fake spike.)

That takes you to 4th down assuming there's no int. (sigh...)

You spike the ball and have time to run a higher percentage play or kick a field goal, .Ben wanted to spike the ball

Any other coach in the NFL spikes the ball in that situation

It's over man.

Let it go and move on. They have to beat the Texans and then the Browns. And they have to do it without Brown.

Spike on thrird down??

Everything I have said is vindicated...wow - this guy is stealing all my stuff!

The Steelers, not the refs, are to blame for the loss to the Patriots

Blaming the refs is misguided, and the Steelers should look in the mirror when searching for someone to blame. New England deserves credit for making the plays necessary to win, too, but, frankly, the Steelers had the game won and choked.

It wasn’t the refs who forced Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to make an idiotic decision to force a ball to a covered receiver to end the game with an unnecessary interception.

That sequence is overlooked, mostly because it takes away from the idea that the Steelers were robbed. True to form, Roethlisberger explained that the call came from the sidelines — so, in his standard passive-aggressive way of deflecting blame, he threw offensive coordinator Todd Haley under the bus.

The Steelers dominated the Patriots for about 52 minutes, but then in the final eight minutes they lost their minds and blew the game.

With the limited amount of penalties called, it seems the fans and players got what they mostly wanted. The refs really didn't insert themselves into the game to the level you believe they did.

The overturned TD was the correct call on a bad, bad rule. Is that the refs fault? All TDs and Turnovers get reviewed automatically now. It wasn't NOT going to get reviewed. You MAY have had a case of inconclusive, but I'm sure the angles they saw 'under the hood' showed more than what they showed us on TV. It SUCKS, but it Is what it is.

I am not against the going for the win on 3rd down, but you have to play smart, Ben did not play smart at QB. One of the biggest complaints on Ben is his willingness to throw a ball into double and triple coverages, with a QB like that you win a few and lose a lot. What makes Ben special is exactly what causes these things to happen, you can't take the good and disregard the bad.

In the end, Ben should have thrown it away, but that is not what he does. He is an all or nothing QB, always has been. If he would have only modified his game years ago and accepted that a throw away is not the end of the world, I honestly believe he would have at least 1 more ring and 10-20 more wins, maybe even another 5000 yds.
