As soon as Ben was given the keys and ran the hurry up offense it was lights ******* out. It was good to watch Ben making plays all over the field, spreading it out to AB, JuJu and Bryant.
Great call and fake by Ben on the TD pass to James.

Damn did we need this performance out of this offense. They took away LevBell as all of us knew that would be their plan, but Ben stepped up big.

They didn't take bell out he didn't get any carries. Ben did light it up fun game to watch

Agreed. Looked fantastic out of the gate. For some reason went into turtle mode for 3 possessions and then back on the accelerator. They had no answer.

Think we scored on 6 of our last 7 drives and the one was in junk time.

Welcome back ben. Great game.

A lot more sight adjustments and subtle gaming. Ball was coming out before the break. Best game for Ben by a longshot.

LevBell had much less carries than usual but didn’t do much with those limited carries. He had a couple nice runs but you had to know he would be the guy they would focus on and force Ben to pass.
That plan may have done this offense a huge favor allowing the passing game to get in sync.

that pass to Bell when the defender had Bens throwing arm pinned was classic Ben. Great game all around

Actually what everyone thinks is Ben's doing was nothing more than the game plan, tthatthe O was able to execute it(including Ben) gives me hope that the Pats only beat us by 20 on Dec. 17th

Just listened to the PC's : the plan was to limit Bell's carries and go no huddle at the necessary time.

Ben of course **** the bed in the first half by sailing passes and heaving unnecessary deep balls.

It all worked out in the end though.

I hope the success he found in this game sparked something in him for the rest of the year. Hell of a game by Ben, hope he’s back for the long haul

Did a Lady-Democrat lose an election somewhere Elfiero? You seem particularly out of sorts tonight.

Now I believe we can go all the way.

We did to a Leabeau defense what teams did to him when he was here sometimes spread them out and throw the football .

One thing I saw from Dicky is he had his CB's pressing our WR'sat the line a majority of the time. Just weird that he rarely ever did that when here.

Offense Responds To Big Ben’s Halftime Challenge

BY MATTHEW MARCZI NOVEMBER 17, 2017 AT 07:00 AM
The Pittsburgh Steelers were really up 10-0 early practically before the Tennessee Titans even got a chance to move the ball. Courtesy of a vintage Ben Roethlisberger opening drive and a quick interception that translated into a field goal, the Steelers dug a hole their visitors were never able to climb out of.

But the truth is that things grew pretty dim there for a while on the offensive side of the ball following that opening drive. Even the field goal that I mentioned alludes to the reality of what I just said. They were given possession inside the 25-yard line with that interception return and mustered only a field goal out of it.

They got two more field goals—another one coming from an interception that was returned this time to the 20-yard line—to go into halftime with 17 points and a nine-point lead, but it didn’t feel very satisfying, especially for the offense.

And not for Roethlisberger.

He and several of his offensive teammates after the game talked about a ‘challenge’ that he issued to his unit, including himself, during a halftime speech of sorts, and they came out of the locker room scoring touchdowns on three consecutive drives to bury the Titans.

As Jeremy Fowler wrote on Twitter, he said that he “used halftime to challenge the entire offense, himself included, to ‘step up and do something’, and not rely on the defense to bail them out”. I’m sure that many people sitting on their couches or barstools were thinking the same thing.

“He told us to pick it up”, Marcus Gilbert recounted, according to Mike Prisuta. “Somebody’s got to make a play”. Gilbert’s wing man, David DeCastro, was a little more expository in the rundown of Roethlisberger’s missive.

“He didn’t call anyone out”, Will Graves quoted the two-time Pro Bowler as saying. “He called all of us out. Linemen. Receivers. Himself. Running backs. Purely positive. It was a challenge. He challenged us. The guys responded’.

And he’s right. Pretty much the entire offense played better in the second half than they did in the first half—outside of that first drive. Roethlisberger, perhaps especially so, took his performance to another level, playing easily his best half of football since last year, perhaps since the Dallas game a year ago, or even longer.

It certainly helps to respond to a challenge when you are the player most responsible for your team’s success and you do your part. But this also speaks to Roethlisberger’s leadership qualities, and the reality that his men will go to battle for him. there’s a reason his linemen have threatened to retire when he does. He’s their leader. He has their respect. And last night, he delivered.

Steelers Can Beat Anybody With Last Night’s Ben Roethlisberger

BY MATTHEW MARCZI NOVEMBER 17, 2017 AT 12:57 AM
I think—maybe I’m wrong, but I think—that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger would admit that he has not been having his best season, overall, this year. But again, like I said, I could be wrong. He did previously say that he felt he was playing as well as ever ‘between the ears’ in terms of decision-making.

But anyway, the point is that he just had his best game of the year, and I don’t think there are going to be any post-game comments that can be painted as cryptic enough to create a controversy, as when he responded to a reporter’s question by insincerely suggesting, “maybe I don’t have it anymore”.

That was following a game in which he threw a career-worst five interceptions, which, by the way, accounts for half of his 10 interceptions this year. Now he just had his best night, throwing four touchdowns—the first time he has thrown more than two in a game this year—without turning the ball over once.

More importantly, he looked like he still has it. He made some excellent throws, he made some excellent decisions, and he made some plays as well. I thought he took a couple of unnecessary sacks that will merely serve to make his season-ending total look worse than it really is, but that’s about the only negative I can say about his performance.

Of course, it helps to have somebody like Antonio Brown to throw to, who had three of those four touchdowns, doubling his total on the year. And Roethlisberger’s touchdown pass total jumped up 25 percent, from 12 to 16.

He completed two thirds of his passes, 30 of 45, and that was with a few drops mixed in, throwing for 299 yards. That isn’t the model of efficiency—actually working out to under 6.4 yards per pass attempt—but the Steelers used the screen game as an extension of the running game.

And, honestly, he often didn’t get a lot of help from his playmakers, if you can call Jesse James one of those. He had three or four catches out into the flat where he only picked up a few yards because he cannot make a tackler miss.

What is most important at the end of the day, aside from the end result of the game, is looking at the throws made, though, and frankly, he made a lot of throws here that he didn’t earlier this year, even as recently as Sunday.

He hit a great hole shot to Brown in this game that he missed to the other sideline in Indianapolis. He and Martavis Bryant landed the back-shoulder throw before the receiver even turned around. He threw JuJu Smith-Schuster open with space to run.

If this is a sign of things to come, then the Steelers are going to be a very, very dangerous team. If he is hitting these throws again with any semblance of regularity, then they are capable of beating any team at any time in any place. Period.

Ben has never lost it and today he showed he just needed a little freedom to show it. This offense can do what we think it can and p[ossible more. I do think Ben said some things in the meeting room :lab" to both Haley and Tomlin. I did see Ben look to side line and give a WTF look and body language early in the game. You could tell he was on a mission and he didn't wait till the fourth quarter.

Salute the nation
