Seems like Steelers are waiting until last minute on Sutton to see if an injury Thursday night makes their decision for them.
Particularly with the Haden injury seems like the Steelers have to activate Sutton. He could be another CB injury away from
significant playing time. Also seems like you would want to get him snaps to see how he can help next year.

To me carrying 6 WR's is a luxury, particularly when your RB is second leading receiver. They like Bey's special teams contributions,
so it looks like Hunter could be on the hot seat. Of course Sutton could take Bey's special teams position if they think Hunter can
contribute down the road. I believe a WR will be the one let go.

Matt Feiler or Dan McCullers have to be the 52&53 on the roster.

Why is everyone so worried about Sutton? Even if he is activated, he probably won't see the field unless there's another injury. The dude is a rookie who didn't really practice during camp or the pre-season due to injuries. WTF do people think he is all of a sudden going to magically do? Best case scenario is he comes back and eventually beats out Gay and that ain't saying much. He's not beating out Burns, Sensasbaugh or Hilton as our top 3 CB's right now with Gay as No. 4 and when Haden gets back, he'll still be fighting Gay for a spot.

Got to go with players that aren't contributing. Here's a player no one is talking about:

Hawkins. He's not injured, he's practicing. He was supposed to be the backup RT, but when Gilbert was hurt, not only did he not come in, he wasn't even activated to backup. He's the lineman's version of Golson.

Hawkins is officially the most useless person on our roster.

I'd have to disagree. He did look good as a rookie last year before getting hurt and hasn't done much this year but I still think he is still well ahead of Big Dan, just for his age and the potential we saw before his injury last year. I liked the idea of Big Dan but he has had 4 years+ now and hasn't gotten any better. His days are numbered as it is. He wont be on the roster next year and why keep him when we only use 2 DL most of the time.

You don't cut your 4th round draft pick when Hubbard is a free agent at the end of the year. He's basically a rookie because he missed the entire year last year.

First off, I cut McCullers. Easy choice.

Secondly I think Cam Sutton can / will come in and contribute in the dime. I was high on him coming in. Who thought Mike Hilton would be in this position at the beginning of the season?

McCullers

I'm actually pretty high on Sutton. I like him a lot. Willie Gay has been pretty bad in spots, wouldn't mind seeing Sutton get some of the snaps he was getting, see what he can contribute

When did Hawkins look good? The zero games he played in 2016 or the zero games he played in 2017? He hasn't been active for a regular season game in his career yet.

I hear you, but why the heck don't you activate him on game days, when he's healthy, and there is an injury to a starting tackle for 5 weeks? Instead they activated another interior lineman to play tackle if Hubbard got hurt. Really this is an odd situation on the roster and I'm confused why he's even on it. 4th round investment or not.

I understand holding Brian Allen for a year since he's a rookie, but Hawkins, to me, doesn't get that same courtesy.

Personally, if I'm trying to win a superbowl, I cut a player that has had zero snaps over someone who has been active for a game and contributed.

How doesn't he get the same treatment? He was on IR from the second week of training camp last year.

Coaches raved about him prior to his injury last year.

I did hear positive reports last year about his play, but I didn't hear them this year, even when he's healthy, and not active.

This also concerns me a bit. Either Hayden's return isn't as optimistic as we thought, or Sutton might not be activated this season:

Cameron Sutton

3rd Round – 94th Overall

CAREER NOTES
Started all 45 games in his Tennessee career, recording 127 tackles (111 solo), 13 tackles for losses, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and seven interceptions…added 45 punt returns for 657 yards and three touchdowns

Comeon man.......I'd take him site unseen over a handfull of guys on this roster if he got AB off punt returns alone. I forgot about Feller Justin, good catch but if he is a prospect for the future I'd go with McCullers and hope for no problems on the D-line.

They worked that guy out as a potential add to the practice squad. They always work guys out throughout the year so they know who to sign to futures deals and so forth as we go. I doubt they're signing some rookie off the street to come play CB.

Personally I don't think they're gonna activate Sutton unless someone goes on IR after Thursdays game.

Hawkins impressed everyone before his injury last year, his rookie year. They were hoping he would pick up where he was before the injury and improve this year. Apparently, he didn't do too much. But, he has only really had less than a season on the team. Big Dan has had 4+ and hasn't gotten any better. You always give the younger guy, who did flash in his rookie pre-season, the upper hand on a 4+ year vet who has not improved. Hawkins may not make the team next year if he doesn't improve and if there is someone to replace him but Big Dan is definitely gone after this year unless lightning strikes. Plus, as I've said, we only use 2 DL on most plays. He doesn't play either of those positions and doesn't dress and probably won't the rest of this year anyway.

I would say big dan, but idk about who the back up NT would be. But we run so much 2 man down ,,, it makes sense if he is the one to go. Such a shame .. he's so dang big.:jump:

So to me,, id go with Hunter Big Dan, or hey what about Dobbs? He obviously isn't the answer. And we aren't opposed to cutting draft picks. We cut our long snapper pick.

Walton and Alualu both can play NT

I would cut Bey and activate Sutton.

I would cut Bey and activate Sutton.

Bey is one of our best ST guys and he's shown up when his number has been called a few times over the years. He's the type of guy you love to have because he is content with his role, he's a team player, and he seems to be great for morale. I feel like he's always on the sidelines talking to people or celebrating the loudest in the shots we get. I love 88.

I hope you're right, for any other position, I wouldn't be concerned, but they tried out a CB.

Just seems to me that many of those attributes is a was as in past tense. You wonder if Sutton could fill that ST role.

Before the Haden injury I absolutely wanted Sutton activated. Now that we have to carry a wounded duck on the 53 man roster and won't IR him, it means Sutton likely will not be activated. I did not want Sutton activated so he could play defense. I want him to return kicks and get AB out of there on puntk returns and also Watson out of there on kick offs.

It seems unlikely that they would activate him but it would be nice if he could practice to learn the defense and prepare for next year.

I. Am. Two. Steelers. Fan.

WTF?

TWO, welcome to our planet. We hope you come in peace. We are glad you have chosen our American football,, and our Pittsburgh Steelers to enjoy.

Are you part of a cooperative conglomerate species like The Borg? Are there others ? Like 3,4, and 5? Who is number 1?

Respectfully,
The Steeler Nation.

McCullers is not playing ahead of Walton or ALualu so just cut the gentle giant
