For those who want a QB in round one next year. An early scouting report.

What if they want the money but also care about winning? And where would you put AB in this criteria? Cares about winning? All about the money? Some of one but more of the other? 50/50 on both?

we are talking QBs here no? as I said, there will be plenty of money after Ben's contract ends

"Jackson. Jackson is super athletic. He can run like the wind and jump."

This is all I needed to read to figure out that you're a complete fraud Coach. I mean, yeah he's super athletic ******* captain obvious and he can "run like the wind and wait for it...he can...Jump.

What the mother ****!!!? He can jump? No ****?

Get the **** out of here with this tripe.

"Lamar Jackson is gooder than mostest quarterbacks 'cause he can jump 'n stuff!! Hims deserves da Heisman cause I read that he eats oatmeal fo' breakfast and his head is juss da right size of a black man"

Where the **** is TMC when you need a real educated opinion.

It was the the " And yeah, if they only want the money and don't care about winning they don't deserve to wear the B&G" that I don't understand. AB got top money at his position. Pouncey did also. DeCastro. Gilbert . Heyward. Tuit both got good money. Do these guys care about winning or just want a pay day? If we bring a guy in to play QB and he is any decent....we will have to pay the money to bring him in.

they would have gotten way more in the open market, especially in the guaranteed part, you know it. Also I'm talking about bringing a FA, the Steelers do re-sign their drafted talent to good money as you say and that's a great strategy.

Well Badcat,

Tell me what type of passer Jackson is. Get a clue, he's not a good one. I do like Jackson's ability to run with the football, but I question if his slim frame will hold up. Oh, now I see this is a racial type of post, I had Jackson 3rd, not last.

If TMC were here, he would agree with me on the passing points.

END.

As usual, you missed the point.

Look, everyone knows that Lamar is an outstanding athlete with a college arm. He just isn't going to translate into an NFL Quarterback. The best that he can hope for is to be drafted as a weapon or a WR with special teams assignments. Unless it's Cleveland...they'll draft anyone at QB

My point is that stating that he can "run like the wind and jump" as part of your analysis is so Phil Simms. Sorry I was so hard on you, stupidity sets me off.

My point is if we want someone who is good we will have to pay them. SAYING THAT IF THEY WANT PAID THEN THEY AREN'T black and gold material is mind boggling when we pay our own guys top dollars.

Okay then, taking Simms name out of the equation, I think Jackson is the best running QB since perhaps Mike Vick. Jackson ran 4.34 40 yard dash. That is elite level speed for a wide receiver or back. To put it into context, Mike Wallace ran a 4.33.

Really not that impressed with any of those guys....

Check out Stidham. He might be last on the hype meter, but I think he can be a 1st round pick.

Coolie, flag this post for later. If not the 2018 draft, 2019.

Cool, what do I get from you if correct? And for sure I've love to read your pre-draft thoughts. I must have missed the details if you ever posted them. Or maybe you just don't; have the acumen to post them.

Only wants to get paid, next time i wont forget the "only" part so you don't get lost in semantics. With that I mean the biggest contract available no matter if it's for a ****-show franchise

I was thinking he reminded me more of Pat White.

Of the quarterbacks originally mentioned, I think Rosen looks the most like a future pro. Smooth delivery, strong arm, accurate. Darnold is inconsistent and turnover-prone, but he'll maintain his high draft status with his measurables. The kid from Wyoming is big and mobile, but just way too inaccurate for me.

A guy the Steelers could consider with late draft position, possibly, is Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma. I know he doesn't have prototypical NFL quarterback size at 6'1" 220, but man, he is a fiery and clutch competitor. He's tough, he can scramble, and this season he's completing 74% of his passes with 19 touchdowns and just 2 INTs. Not sure where he's projected, but he's probably not going to be one of the first QBs taken because of his height. Kind of reminds me of a Russell Wilson type of situation. Some team is going to be very happy with Mayfield.

Lol. Gotcha. Smh. ONLY. LOL.

Re-read what I wrote: I agree with you he's not going to be a good passer in the NFL.

But what type of quarterback is he? His completion percentage is a little low at 60.2% ( 56.9% for college career ) and he was shut down vs. the Clemson defense. The good news is he takes care of the football and doesn't have a lot of interceptions. However, I do not think he will fare well as a passer vs. an NFL Defense.

It's called satire tool. Pick up a dictionary and read what it means.

What you get from me IF you are correct? What do you want, a present? A cake? I'll give you a golf clap for what it's worth.

As for my pre-draft thoughts, acumen? I work for a living and have more pressing interests. However, if I had the time it's no doubt I could do no worse than you. All I would need to do is pick up some pre-draft periodicals and just rewrite the text. Those with real commitment to doing the research (like watching film, debriefing statistics, maybe reading position coaches observations) that goes with pre-draft assessment I'll take over any agenda driven "look at me! I'm in a forum!" commentary from you. Do yourself a favor......get over yourself in your "player evaluations". Stick to your day job.

It seems like Ike is a glass house type with enough time to post here, but shies away from adding much on this topic.

But we know you love to follow me. Draft periodicals aren't very good, they only serve as a base point to who you should be looking at.

I prefer Del and TMC's draft periodicals. Amazing to have guys on this site that enjoy doing that type of research!

Add too much on this topic? You mean like predictive drafting? QBs at that? You hyped a QB for 2018, whose a sophomore transfer. You don’t even know if he will turn pro. The fact he is in the SEC burdens him to be better than all the other QBs in other conferences to be noticed.

Unlike you, I don’t pretend to know it all on the subject. If I did, I wouldn’t be on this board enjoying the casual fan interaction. I would be spending my time on the medium and making money on the knowledge from it. Also, unlike you, I’ll admit it when I am wrong on something. I also recognize there are some who are heck of a lot more knowledgeable on certain subjects than others. You are not one of them.

I don’t follow you Coach, you saturate this board with threads, and posts that it’s impossible to not see your elementary thought process. A casual poster sees you as to what you are. But you are LOVED for the comical relief you bring to this board.

Draft guides aren’t very good, huh? Like not watching games, but expressing opinions about them. You think you are like TMC (who has published works) or Del in your knowledge of player evaluation. You aren’t. Your opinion on this board is no more accurate than anyone else. We get it. You love the attention, negative mostly, but you do enlighten the board occasionally with interesting topics, which is great for Justin. Most of the time your opinions are agenda driven diatribes about your dislike of the coaching staff or general manager’s handling of the organization and personnel. That’s fine, it’s easy to be an armchair GM. On occasion you will make a thoughtful observation. The rest of the time it’s troll fodder.

But hey, glass houses aside, keep it up the work. I hope you don’t break yours (glass house) with all the stones that you throw.

I watched some of USC vs UCLA last night. Rosen makes throws that reminded me of Peyton Manning. I was very impressed with man.
