So...was it game planning or execution?

Curious on the read on the board now. MT coaching or players executing more often than not. Some folks (Coach...”cough”...) blame all the issues last week and before on the coaching staff, or on players not being put in position to make plays. So what what’s the vibe now? Defense and Deebo go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Oh and BTW, aside from #23 episodes, #25 lapses on a couple plays....DBs played well. Still, we know Coach won’t say one thing about how well Davis played.

both. Better overall execution, and a better game plan. Especially on D.

But that O still has some issues to iron out.

Luckily there is still time to iron them out.

Both as well. And I believe if we came out with that gameplan last week (run heavy, control the clock), we beat the Jags. Now there was come questionable play calling in the 2nd half but for the most part, the coaches called a much better game.

FINALLY the coaches wised up and played Deebo...gotta at least give them some props for having him in to seal the game. Why he hasn't been playing is another story but for this game they got it right.

It also helped we had the better coach on our sideline. Not kicking that FG was the dumbest move on 4th and 2. Much different game if the Chiefs get points there.

We also need to find 2 things imo.

1. Play mutha ******* action! Jfc with this run attack.

2. Can we get our TE more involved. I know we don’t have Heaaath anymore but I think bringing them more into the fold will be a huge help when we get in the RZ.

Loved the defensive scheme - seemed like we had their number.

Loved the overall philosophy to stick with crushing them with Bell. But I did not like the way we approached situational ball. 1st and goal from the 2 and we went away from Bell. 4th and 2 from the Chiefs 35 and we punted. We are great at moving the ball, bad at scoring points. This NEEDS to change, and those decisions didn't help.

So in other words, it was both. Although, we did almost blow the game.

I think that is the problem they aren't Heath. One is prone to drops (Although he did have a solid catch against the chiefs -McDonald}. The other gets open, but is nothing more than a possession type. That perhaps doesn't get open as much as we would like-Jesse James. Their improvement will dictate play or lack of.

I expect that if we had been getting 5+ yards a rip versus Jax, instead of 3.1, the running would have been more heavily favored.

And the crazy part is we arent close to playing our best ball. The int. when Brown stopped running might have been a TD or at least a big gain. The little things are bogging us down

I'd suggest execution by the OL.

The announcers went on and on about how the Steelers were attacking the KC D depending upon if there were 3 or 4 down linemen, though.

first couple of games were 10 and 13 penalties. Since then it has been less.

Jax game was only 6 total penalties, but 4 were on Offense (FS and Holding). This game there were 7, but 2 for Holding.

@ If I were Mike Tomlin and Todd Haley, however, I’d take away Roethlisberger’s audible ability inside the 10. Roethlisberger checked out of a run on first-and-goal from the 2 in the second quarter after Bell had just broken off a 17-yard run to get the Steelers there.

Dude,

After a shitforbrians type of coaching vs Jacksonville, the Steelers finally figured out they can play power football well. So it was coaching not calling the right players more than the execution. If you read my posts, I've been asking for this weeks ago...

Well to be honest one player cost us on the free kick, and ran the wrong way on the interception, but he made up for these two turnover type of mistakes in the end with a TD score.

Davis was due to make a play. He has the least among the DB's. But Mitchell, that guy yellow flag waiting to happen.

How does this guy know he audibled out of a run play? Does he know the plays? Is he in the huddle.
How about lining up 3rd and goal in the empty set? Or how about 3rd and 2 late trying to run clock line up in the empty set and run 4 vertical routes? Maybe someone should take the redzone and critical times of the game play calling away from Haley

Maybe because hes at practice

Who knows, inconsistency is a problem under Tomlin. But the bookies in Vegas and AC love it because they get a middle in the spread that makes them money.

This. My thoughts exactly. The defense is coming onto its own, and we have seen what this offense can do when it is clicking. Get the O going, and this team is as good or better than any.

If youre talking about the play where ben threw it away out the back of the endzone......

that was the same damn play he checked down to last week ,,, staring down brown in the corner of the endzone EXACT SAME.

(remember the one in the gifs you provided)

It's a ****** play.. He needs new material..

Not sure your point if he AUDIBLED to the play. He could have stayed with the Run play called. Especially since the run was clicking

As you said you’ve been asking for weeks. So coaching caused the execution to improve? Or regardless of the game plan if the execution by the players are sound, then they will make plays? Which is it?

Coaches don’t perform the plays the players do. As for Jax, the game plan was to be a dual attack with more intermediate throws to spread out the D, but after the pick sixes that game plan was discarded as they played catch-up the rest of the way....with Ben obviously not performing well....and the D on the field way too long. So were the coaches the blame for Ben’s 5 spot, or the players not being gap sound?

As for your slam on Davis, you wouldn’t know but he’s 3rd in tackles on the team, top among all DBs, and tied for 3rd in PD’s among the DBs (#25 and #21 ahead). I didn’t list how many TOL since I can’t find at least two sources that match, but he is at least 1st among DBs. So how is he least playmaker among them?

Your analogy of Davis is more akin to your observations. Once in a long while you throw something that sticks on the wall. The Mitchell opinion seems solid. He needs a talking to, with his antics. He’s lucky he didn’t get tossed for taking out Smiths legs on that broken play.
