I think so. McDonald can block a ton and do it on the move and Nix just blows his man up.

While it's true that putting both players on the field at the same time limits the passing options, it also gets Bell going, rests the defense, and imposes our will on the opponent.

Not sure I view Bell as a power back.

Wouldn't power football be with Conner ?

If you mean the pieces are there for Conner to succeed if they ran him for a series, sure.

Nix and Mcdonald are solid blockers. DeCastro can pull too to help with the power running game. But can help with a lot of running schemes.

Ehhh not sure I am following you on this one coach.

with Brown, Bryant and even Bell's catching abilities why not? especially when you want to control the clock

They put in the best blocking people for Bell and deployed Pouncey And DeCastro more on the move.

I also think Ju-Ju and Bryant are big WR's who can block well.

You could say for a change the Steelers used their players correctly on running plays.

Taking Rogers out and featuring McDonald makes a difference for run blocking. Then you add a sledge hammer type like Nix, and all of a sudden you've got something.

My best guess is Steeler Depot who does a pretty good job breaking down the film will mention this.

he's vowing for the I formation

We do have the pieces in place to run effectively.

Juju is > than Rogers run blocking.
McDonald is > than Jesse James run blocking

With Juju showing getting open capable I think that stays the course.

McDonald with iffy hands will continue to be rotated in. Perhaps he will see more playing time in obvious run situations and later in the game when/if the Steelers are playing with a lead.

Yes.

I don't care if the Steelers use McDonald like the Steelers used to use Mark Bruener. He needs to be on the field, and with weapons like Brown, Bell, Ju-ju and Bryant we can afford to play him in this role.

He did drop and easy one and catch another one that was called back from a penalty.

Like I said 100 times, September is the new preseason, offense takes time

they fed their 12 million dollar man like they were supposed to - get a lead then run the wheels off him

Slash how come you dont see Bell as a power back. He is pretty physical at the point of contact

I don't think they run this much every week. They were taking advantage of Baltimore depleted DL.

I think he is power back capable. I think if you label him that perhaps you are cutting him short. As a typical power back usually isn't as shifty as Bell or the pass catcher Bell is. I see Bell as a complete back. He can do it all, so don't want to tag him with something that might short change him.

I'm fine with playing Vance more. He just needs to start getting more catches than drops...

I read his hands were bad, didn't realize they were THAT bad, but his blocking is quite impressive.

I broke him down in one of my drunk nights. He had a season where he had more drops than catches. His drop ratio is one of the worst I've seen.

Kind of hard to understand why they waited until game 4 to use some good run blocking formations and personnel? Nix gives me flashbacks of Kreider blowing people up in front of Fast Willie! That's my favorite kind of offensive football to watch.

I think they installed a game plan and executed it. The coaching staff clearly can see that the passing game is NOT in sync just yet. They decided to go heavy with an extra OL and Rosie Nix as a FB and ran the ball down the Rats ******* throat. That game plan won't work every single week and we surely don't want to see Bell running until the wheels fall off (Parker). We need a better balance on offense but man, if the defense can't stop the run you ******* hammer it until they do.
