The kid can play. I'd like to see what he can do in William's position next to Shazier. I think we will see him there in the next few weeks. He's a smart kid and plays hard. That's what I want on the field.
There's no way he sniffs playing over Williams.
Cope said in the next few weeks.this year i'd agree but next year is a long way away and we will see.

Wasn't he the one that didn't cover the TE in Chicago when he was wide open for the td

Williams is better than people are giving him credit for. He's not good in coverage, but the coaches shouldn't have him out there in coverage, Shazier over ran way more plays than Williams, that's because Shazier can over run plays.

Williams wears the dot. He calls and sets the defense. Red is nowhere near ready for that responsibility. But... he may be one day.

I agree on the passing league, but Williams is probably better than Dirty red in coverage, but neither are very good at it. I look at Dirty Red the way I do Gay, less is more, the less they play, the better they play.I see what you're saying but that's easier said than done. It's no longer a run, run, pass league so you can't have a liability on the field on 1st and 2nd down either. Good coaches (*cough*) will exploit your weakness and he is a weakness in this defense. Is he even THAT good against the run? I mean we did just get run over when we knew they were going to run and he didn't exactly help the situation.
I like the guy as a rotational 3rd MLB but he's not starting material to be out there on every down and despite all the crap Timmons got around here, we do miss his playmaking ability and his all around skill set. I thought before the season started, not replacing Timmons will come back to haunt us and it's not looking good so far.
I say at least give Red some more snaps, see what he's got outside of special teams where he has excelled this season.

I wouldn't mind not even using another ILB when we play good passing teams, put Davis in there and use an extra db
