Tomlin's interview

So we are going to ignore articles posted saying Tomlin had nothing to do with the decision it was the players..

lol They players wished it it was Tomlin who still gave the green light.

Cmon drew we know the head coach makes the final discision

runs the asylum

And if he is incapable he definitely needs to be replaced.

Really slash..smh. give it a rest. What coach is going to dictate on his players freedom of speech. The players had a meeting and discussed this. The coach said whatever you guys do, do it together. They then asked the Rooneys if it was ok. The owner. Why didnt he shut it down but Tomlin should have??

Freedom of speech?

lol I dont give a **** what the players discussed.

It is simple.

I am a head coach, players you will follow the RULE and stand for the anthem.

But I will set up a televised meeting after the game, for you to show support for the cause you believe in.

It is up to the coaches to enforce rules set in place.

No Tomlin deflection on your part will avoid this fact.

Disregard the rule comments, I am reading conflicting reports on Coach's find.

Tomlin runs this team not Rooney, they do as he says. If he said go out on the ******* field and stand, they will.

Be done I will never change my opinion on this. I am a firm believer in standing for the flag, like Al is. You show respect by standing. Too many things you can do to show support for whatever agenda they have. It doesn't have to be at that moment disrespecting the flag. Hell it can be even in your bullshit Tomlin interview after the game. That is a media platform, use it.

You lose me with your ignorance.

If you don't know the coach runs this team and the players follow his lead. It shows your ignorance more than anything.

Majority of fans I know, knows the coaches run the teams.

It is a ******* job dumb nuts. Freedom of speech is on your own time.

You go to work shoot your ******* mouth off see if you still have a job.

Again there is other ways to handle it, they are handling it wrong.

Fans the majority of fans have already showed their displeasure with this media driven horseshit.

And yes you are being ignorant.

FOH no one is arguing the kneeling the protesting or none of that bullshit. We are arguing what Coach is going to tell a player what he can or cant do in this instance

Bullshit, a coach's job is to get players to focus on the task at hand.Have them prepared to play, and make whatever adjustments is needed to ensure victory. The task on hand is to focus on ******* football, not what the president is saying.

BTW a coach can say this to his players.

Hey guys I prefer you stand, but lock arms whatever. Seems to be a lot of coaches doing that. So your argument no coach will do that is false.

On their time they are free to focus in on whatever political agenda they might have.

I don't know? Enough coverage shows players standing, but protesting their agenda locking arms. If you think the coach has no say in this you are clueless. Seriously.

agree with your opinion that its irresponsible to say the things he did.

Disagree that it isnt obamas fault. He invited BLM leaders to the whitehouse. Did nothing to quell the bullshit. Trump inherited BLM, but his comments could have been better left unsaid.

So that says the coach dictated to them. Or did they come to a compromise about how they wanted to handle it. Cause YOU are saying Tomlin should dictate to the players what they can or cant do

So youre saying.. Tomlin had no idea that Villenueve was going to break ranks and go outside the tunnel.?

The rest of the team stayed in the tunnel because it was too hot out there.

CHICAGO -- Alejandro Villanueva's emergence from the Soldier Field tunnel during Sunday's national anthem surprised many members of the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source told ESPN.

Villanueva, a former Army Ranger who served terms in Afghanistan, was the lone Steeler to appear despite an expectation from Saturday's players-only meeting that the entire team would remain in the locker room, the source said.

The starting left tackle was a key figure in the team's protest planning because of his background. Players wanted to accommodate Villanueva, who expressed during their 30-minute session that he didn't want to be singled out, the source said. Moving the protest off the field entirely was a way to keep solidarity without isolating an individual.

"That's where the confusion came in," the source of the anthem sequence said.

Players discussed several potential methods of protest at that meeting, including holding hands on the sideline or laying hands on teammates who would stand or kneel. The team eventually moved their locker-room plan into the tunnel for time purposes.

Villanueva was not available in the locker room during the Steelers' open locker room after a 23-17 overtime loss to the Chicago Bears.

Asked what played into Villanueva's leaving the tunnel, defensive end Cam Heyward said: "I don't want to go into that, but we support our guy Al. He feels he had to do it. This guy served our country, and we thank him for it."

James Harrison told PennLive.com that he did not think anyone was exempt from the pregame plan.

"We thought we were all in attention with the same agreement, obviously," Harrison told PennLive.com. "But I guess we weren't."

In the past, Villanueva has said he aligned with player frustration over racial injustice, but the sacrifice of the military is too great to minimize the anthem.

Teammates widely respect Villanueva for serving the country, and they made that clear Sunday.

"Al is a unique circumstance, what he's been through, some of the things he's talked about before," guard David DeCastro said of Villanueva's decision Sunday.

"I've got a lot of respect for Al. I wish there was a different way to do this thing. We've got some people who look at the national anthem as patriotism, soldiers, all the stuff that it means, and obviously, people are upset, and I understand that. I just wish both sides understand that they want the right thing, but doing it through the national anthem, I wish there was a different way."

Apparently he did not know

I don't care about a players politics. I care about that steaming turd of a game we played. I just don't get it. I don't care if he likes bush, clinton, or putin, if he catches the ball, makes his blocks, makes his tackles, etc, he's fine by me. I draw the line at illegal behavior, but that's mainly due to the fact that illegal behavior leads to much other bad **** that's just bad for a team. I'm not looking for choir boys, I'm looking for football players. Period. If Stabby Ray Ray can play football for all those years, these pricks can kneel if they want.
