The biggest concern.....

Thats the problem right there the OLINE..A SACK ON A THREE MAN RUSH FUCKKKKKKKK

There's no scheme to help the issue. How do you slow a pass rush? Apparently go empty back if you're Tomlin but it's actually play action and short passing i.e. slants and crosses. Or maybe some no huddle to wear out the D. Nope don't wanna do that even though the rare occasions we do, it works. Riddle me that?

Um three man pass rush vs 5.. stop it. Ben sucks running play action pass

Some of yinz are in for a rude surprise when Ben retires. lulz.

Have you seen the offensive line play in Seattle lately? Russell has been running for his life since the middle of last year. And you want to bring that mess here?

Sean Peyton's defense is a mess and has been his entire tenure. With that much offense, you should ask yourself why they only pulled one ring out of Brees.

And Tomlin won the lwoB repuS. Dan Quinn choked his away.

And none of them win as much as Tomlin.

Is the Seahawks line all 1st round picks? Nah

I added that Payton needs a D coordinator, apparently you missed that part. Maybe I should say Payton should replace Haley would be more appropriate.

Quinn was at least in the SB after year 1 and rebuilt a ****** D in a short amount of time mainly due to his scheme. If Tomlin making it to the AFCC game is a victory, you must see Quinn as the next coming of Lombardi since he actually won the NFCC.

IMO, put those 3 coaches in the same situation as Tomlin with this team and I think they outperform him.

A ******* men!!!!

I find it amusing that AB has had some great games this year, but Ben has sucked. Who the **** is throwing AB the ball? Ben's not out there calling go routes on every 3rd and short. But let's say he is, who's fault is that? This offense seems to have no idea what situation football is and whether that is due to Ben or Haley's play calling, it's a coaching problem.

with play action remains a mystery

Pro Football Focus shared an interesting graphic about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger via their official Twitter account. It highlighted the struggles that Roethlisberger has when he throws out of play action. But when you think about how play action works, it doesn’t make sense that Roethlisberger wouldn’t be better at it.

The easy answer for why Roethlisberger’s quarterback rating takes such a hit when the Steelers run play action has to do with the Steelers’ offensive philosophy. Typically, when the Steelers fake the run they take a shot deep. That would lend itself to a lower quarterback rating.

But according to Pro Football Focus, no quarterback throws for more yards than Roethlisberger when it comes to the deep ball.

So where is the disparity? Some could be that Roethlisberger’s best deep throws don’t come off play action at all. The Steelers sometimes use designed rolls to give receivers time to work deep.

But some of this dip could just be based on how the Steelers are effective running the ball. Most of Le’Veon Bell’s best runs come out of the shotgun, which doesn’t really lend itself to play action at all. So what we saw, especially in the second half of the season was a passing offense that didn’t succeed in a traditional sense.

You would think if you had a running back like Bell on the roster, you would use him to drive the play-action passing game. But offensive coordinator Todd Haley found a mix that really works, so if they view play action as a weakness, look for fewer snaps in 2017.

Ben has a 94 qb rating this season so he's not the pile of hot garbage you make him sound

Nope never said that. I said he needs to play better. As does others. But especially him cause the offense is built for him

This offense isn't but for him, Haley/Tomlin wants a run first team. If this offense was built for Ben there'd be alot more no huddle than there is. You should know this after the Baltimore fiasco last year

...This offense seems to have no idea what situation football is and whether that is due to Ben or Haley's play calling, it's a coaching problem.

So far this year the offense has that Asian-restaurant-menu feel: One from Column A, one from Column B, etc. It's just scattershot.

It's been like that before under Haley, and before that under Arians.

They're righted the ship in the past. I'm counting on them to do it again.

Without playaction

With playaction

How the heck is offense that lines up in shotgun primarily not a pass first offense????

Roethlisberger One Of The League’s Worst QBs Under Center In 2016

BY ALEX KOZORA JULY 6, 2017 AT 08:00 AM

Circling back to a CBS article from last month but it offered up an interesting statistic. Ben Roethlisberger was really bad under center last season.

From Jason La Canfora’s June 23rd article, Roethlisberger finished 33rd of 39 qualifying quarterbacks in under-center production.

“He was 55 of 94 (58.5 percent) for 699 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions outside the shotgun, for a rating of just 73.8. That’s problematic. The only guys worse than him were RG3, Bryce Petty, Cam Newton, Brock Osweiler, Jay Cutler and Goff. Roethlisberger’s rating outside the shotgun was virtually even with that of Paxton Lynch and Blake Bortles…”

The good news is that the Steelers don’t often work out under center. Less than 20% of his snaps last season came from there. Perhaps the Steelers can bring back some pistol, something offensive line coach Mike Munchak said he’d like to see. The team has used it in the past but most often when Roethlisberger was hurt and had limited mobility. Pistol, for those who don’t know, is the QB lining up in the gun but at a reduced depth than shotgun. The running back will line up behind him, like an I-Formation.

Mobility may be the issue overall, even with a healthy Big Ben. In his older age, having more trouble quickly getting away from center and reach his drop. Either way, it’s another specific area he must improve on to have a well-rounded 2017 season. That, in addition to figuring out his woes on the road.

At home, he threw 20 touchdowns to five interceptions. Compare that to him on the road where he barely threw more scores (9) than picks (8). His completion rate also dropped by more than 10%.

Should Ben be able to straighten out, or even just mildly improve, in both areas, the Steelers’ offense will reach its ceiling. A very high ceiling, for the record.
