Dolphins Filed Missing Persons Report For LB Timmons

Yeah, but does he get paid if he is suspended by the team and not the league? He shouldn't get anything for the game he missed but if he reports for Game 2 can they still withhold pay?

It is a guideline to it. He will get some and the team can get some back. I think they can take 4 game checks.

I understood the CBA would allow up to a 4-game SUSPENTION for this criteria. I bet he is reinstated after 1, two at the most. **** he's their best ILB.

I highly doubt Timmons ends up here. I think he is done in the NFL after all this, unless he comes out and publicly states his side and reasoning for what went down. I wish good luck to him but until he is a STEELERS player again or retired, I will remain focused on the STEELERS currently.

Didn't Jeff Reed, a kicker having some issues for a while before the Steelers let him go? They can sure as heck take Timmons back. He has a perfect record for many years as a Steeler. A football player type who enjoys playing football.

The only thing the league might be considered with is having good players quitting on their teams to end up elsewhere in the middle of the season.

I'm not sure what really happen with Timmons. He had a top week of practice. My speculation is he went to see the boxing match in Las Vegas, and had a bad Hangover type of moment.

Gonna be a monster cap hit to them to cut him. They would almost be better to shut him down for the year and cut him next year than to cut him now.

would there be any language in the cba or the contract he signed that would allow them to release him based on conduct detrimental to the team that would not count against their cap? seems that would be customary in these large money contracts.

from rotoworld:

Dolphins suspended SLB Lawrence Timmons indefinitely for violating team rules.

Dealing with a personal situation, Timmons went AWOL from the team on Saturday night. He was reportedly back with the club on Monday, but the Dolphins have decided the transgression must be punished. "Indefinite" team suspensions have a way of lasting only a game or two, but Timmons' situation is extremely murky. Anything from one week to the Dolphins moving on completely is on the table. Under the CBA, four weeks is the max length of Timmons' suspension. The ban should void the $4.5 million guaranteed in Timmons' deal.

Jeff Reed's issues were drinking too much and picking fights with hand dryers in Sheetz bathrooms...

According to Channing Crowder, ( former NFL Miami Dolphin ) on the radio in South Florida players are late or miss meetings more than the media is aware of. Players often text each other if they are running late to a meeting to remind each other.

He also said Timmons must have received at least 20 texts and phone calls while he was missing from the team and went into some detail as to who calls him first. The Dolphins checked strip clubs and the morgues.

He signed his contract, showed up to camp and was on the roster for week 1. He got his signing bonus and his salary is guaranteed this year minus the games he is suspended for. Max they can suspend him for is 4 games. Maybe they'll trade him but they're gonna eat the cap $$

All the best to Larry and all, but I don't think the Steelers should upset the apple cart unless there is an injury. Williams waited his turn, is as good as Timmons and Dirty Red is a capable backup.

I agree with this. There is no reason for the Steelers to get older at the LB position, not with the decent production they're getting from the young guys. And those young guys have the potential to get better with time and experience, whereas Timmons will only get worse with age, his peak is behind him..

Listen, I'm a Timmons guy, but time waits for no man. I don't think he could contribute much more than the guys we have in there now at this stage in his career. But if he called the Steelers FO and said, hey guys, I wanna sign a two year contract to come back home and play out the rest of my career in whatever role you decide, I'd do it in a second. He was always a great team guy. Not sure what the heck set him off in Dolphinland.
