Looks like a carry over from last year though. I see Faneca as the only realistic finalist possibility this year again. As Ward probably will lose votes to Moss and Lloyd to rayray -stab a mothahfukah- Lewis.
 
You're right about Fanica but I'd like to see Gary (Charlie brown) Anderson have a serious shot. I don't think that will happen as look how long it took for Morten to get in. Lloyd / Porter/ Anderson / both coaches are bubbles at this time.

Faneca should make it. Ward should get in eventually but probably not this time...probably the same for Porter.

I may be in the minority here but is Greg Lloyd really HOF worthy? I know he was damn good in his prime but 54.5 career sacks (his bread and butter), only 1 season of double digit sacks, 1 trip to the SB with a loss...is that what it takes to get in the HOF? In contrast, Peezy has almost identical Forced Fumble and INT numbers but nearly twice the amount of sacks (98) with multiple double digit sack seasons (3) and a SB win.

I'm certainly not a HOF expert by any means and don't know what kind of LB's are in there already with similar or maybe even worse stats, just going off my observation of recent memory.
 
Ward should be elected.

Achieving 1000 receptions equates to achieving 3000 hits in baseball.

Porter did play almost 3 seasons worth of games more than Lloyd, and it was less of a passing league then, but IMO they are both very comparable, I think Porter maybe the best all around LB next Ham, he wasn't amazing at any one thing, but was very good at rushing the QB, run defense, pass coverage. I think he is the only player ever to have 90+ sacks and 10+ Ints.

I know it's tough to put a guard in as first ballot, but he's possibly the best guard of all time, in his prime he could over power you, he was very mobile, and he could pass protect well enough to play LT

Faneca should get in soon. I think Cowher also gets in but needs a few more years before they elect him. Lloyd is not a HOF player IMO. He's a very good player but the criteria for HOF is going to exclude him. Hines will get in, but its going to be a long wait for him. Someone is really going to have to fight hard to get him in with all these other WRs with better numbers than him coming up for election.
 
I think AF is a lock this year, but Ward has a tough go. While I believe Ward was a better FOOTBALL player, he wasn't a better dynamic WR than Owens, Moss, Bruce etc. He'll get in, but he's in a tough group.
 
There are two ways to argue for who should get into the HOF: Those who were truely great vs those who were as good as some of those already in the HOF (the Hall of Very Good)

I'd say Faneca and Anderson are in the first group and the rest in the latter.
 
Faneca and Ward should be. Porter eventually maybe. Lloyd No. I just found my old early 90's Lloyd sweatshirt and loved the dude. Scariest SOB ever but his career was too short lived and not enough production.

Here's how I see it

Alan Faneca 30% chance to get in in 2018, 60% chance to get in by 2025. One of the best guards in a decade. Guard is a tough spot to make it, but the elite ones should. Faneca was elite

Hines Ward 40% chance to get in by 2018, 80% chance to get in by 2025. He's got the numbers a super bowl MVP, and lots of fans.

Greg Lloyd, 5% chance to get in by 2018, 10% chance to get in by 2025. Lloyd who was a force likely did not do enough to make the hall of fame.

Joey Porter 15% chance to get in by 2018, 35% chance to get in by 2025. Porter really had an all around game. 98 sacks, 25 forced fumbles, 12 interceptions, and 46 passes defended. I think he belongs....

Gary Anderson 10% chance by 2018, 15% chance by 2025. With a kicker inducted in 2017, I think the NFL voters are more open to other kickers. Gary kicked out5doors for most of his game, had a perfect season, and IMO belongs. The Steelers will not reissue his jersey number.

Bill Cowher - 15% chance by 2018, 0% chance by 2025. Cowher has a good record and won a super bowl. His ability to win 10 games or more with the likes of Tomzack, Maddox, Stewart or O'Donnell at QB is impressive and he seldom lost with the lead. IMO he left the game too soon, but with a dying wife and children, you can't blame him. His work with the media has been very solid, unlike other coaches who only have won a super bowl. Cowher's
61.8% winning percentage is very good.

Buddy Parker - 2% chance by 2018. 20% chance by 2025. With 107 other choices, I just can't see Parker making it, but there is always the old timer nomination... He did win two championships in the 1950's and has a .577 winning percentage as a coach.

And Finally why isn't Donnie Shell in the hall!
 
Faneca gets in soon... ward gets in eventually... cowher gets in once they are certain he isn't coming back... they have a thing about coaches waiting till they are clearly done for good ever since Gibbs... Lloyd has a shot with the Veterans committee but never with the writers he treated like crap... porter is borderline... probably makes it... other later veteran committee possiblities down the line will be Hampton and Smith... whose play equates to olinemen who arent respected enough for their supreme technical greatness. Both played on an amazing defense that will be underrepresented in the Hall based on what they accomplished...
