When did they start this?

Sunday, September 3

West Virginia
Virginia Tech

Monday, September 4

Tennessee
Georgia Tech

Not sure but if the NFL isn't going to take advantage of starting on Labor Day weekend, good to see NCAAF putting up some good entertainment.

WV/VT: Both teams opening up the offenses or more likely the defences are getting tired. Tied at 24 each. Neither team looks like a top 25 team tonight but great to see these old Big East rivals square off again.

A couple of great games. WVU receiver dropped a TD pass that could have tied the game and UCLA came back from 44-10 down to win 45-44.

Two great games. A great college game is always better than a great pro game, just more excitement and unknowns

Texas A&M / UCLA too - way better cheerleader upskirts in college ball, I approve

Unreal - I don't believe what I just watched

Down 44-10 in the 3rd qtr, UCLA comes back and wins 45-44 - their QB had 4 TD passes in the 4th qtr alone

My BF is an Aggie fan. To say he is shocked is an understatement. Kevin Sumlin is on the hot seat, maybe???

great games last night. Who wins tonight? Tenn?

Vols win 42-41....another miracle comeback......... in 2 OT!

Down 2 TDs they come back to tie late after looking like garbage the whole game

I wonder how the overall ratings of college football is compared to the NFL these days. With all the BS the NFL offers us these days I bet the NCAA's market share has increased.

I'm only one measly viewer within the 45-55 year old classification of viewers but I know I watch a lot more college football these days and a lot less NFL. Basically the only NFL games I watch these days are the Steeler games. Once we get to the playoffs I'll watch them in their entirety but by the time January gets here there is not a whole lot more to do on a cold Saturday/Sunday.

.

college football shoots TV ratings way up
Why Haven’t College Football Ratings Fallen Like the NFL’s?

"Week 1 CFB overnights up combined +16% across 5 networks through Sat games. Good chance to beat 2016, widely cited as best CFB Week 1 ever."

I blame the close games - and cheerleaders

This is an interesting question because in a way, the charade of the NCAA is worse than the NFL.

The NCAA is all about money and as a result conferences and rivalry games have changed or gone away.
Only a few teams realistically have a chance to win each year with the rich getting richer.
As much as some complain about the quality of play in the NFL, the NCAA is worse with very little defense being played.
Players get ejected for illegal hits.
The games are longer and there are more unnecessary replay reviews than the NFL.
Players are getting suspended left and right for illegal activities and breaking team rules.
College football is even overextended, but does anyone even care to watch games that aren't on days other than Saturdays?

I often hear that college games are better, but nearly every week you get outstanding NFL games and the Steelers were involved in two of the most entertaining of the season last year. Would be very curious to see the perception on each league and why one seems to be on the decline while the other may not be.
