When I think of the possibilities with Vance McDonald, added to the killer bees of Ben,Bell,Bryant, and Ben. I think of a potentially lethal group of men. Not that Vance is going to bring back Heathhhhhhhhh memories, but he should be able to stretch the field a little better than Grimble or Jesse James. To achieve GOAT status as a offense they will need to obviously stay healthy. And be a cohesive group of players, all on the same page on the field. Quickly ol McDonald and Bryant will need to get up to game speed, because the Steelers need to string together wins early and often. To end up with the playoff positioning desired.

Notes

Steelers have done a solid job of bringing in competition. Haden if nothing else should improve secondary play. If you look at it as a upgrade over Cockrell. And he comes in and shows that. The D will be a instantaneous upgrade over last years version. Throw in TJ Watt and a Bud Dupree that has clearly added some muscle to his speed game. And you have a attractive listing on paper. Much like Vance having to get acclimated to the O, it will be no difference on D. It will be up to all the coaches to iron out these growing pain wrinkles and make it look smooth sooner than later.

Antidotes

Who takes over Gay's position hasn't been exposed at the present time. But there is a plethora of options available, for Tomlin and co. to figure it out. As was mentioned in another thread I think FS behind Mitchell (who is no spring chicken himself) Might be the second most worry-some question mark facing the defense. Like many other teams, plenty of question marks heading into the season. But as the jigsaw puzzle starts to take shape, you have to love that a few of the problems have been sprinkled with possible antidotes.

Let us hope Tombert has one more trick under their sleeve to ease those safety injury question marks.

But I am boiling over with anticipation and excitement. The team senses urgency with Ben's off-season mambojahambo of retiring sooner than later.

So we will need the Steelers to bond together and climb that Stairway to Seven. Be Regulators. Yeah regulate any stealin' of property. We’re damn good too. But you can’t be any geek off the street. You gotta be handy with the Steel, if you know what I mean. Earn your keep. Regulators, mount up!

THIS is a very important aspect of what needs to be done. WE need to win early in our schedule for two reasons.
1.) Oviously for positioning of post season play
2.). Obviously to get that losing to inferior teams stigma off "someone's back"

Definately great acquisitions to the team. This is something a little out of character for the STEELERS fron office but I for one am very glad of it. I too think there is possible one more acquisition to occure yet very soon..........(one can hope)

Salute the nation

Heck, is Mitchell even healthy enough to play? Dude hasn't practiced most of camp.

There are no viable options to replace Gay. Hell, they still haven't replaced Polamalu or Taylor, as Burns and Davis still have a ton to prove.

It's just funny how Tomlin established himself in the league as this great DB coach, yet cannot seem to draft and develop DBs for ****.

The guy needs to send parts of his lofty head coaching paychecks to Ronde Barber and John Lynch, who were great players well before Tomlin began "coaching" them in Tampa Bay.

I'm just glad the pre-season games are over. I tried to watch the Carolina game last night and couldn't make it past the 3rd quarter without falling asleep.
