the Good

Eli Rogers He has done nothing to lose the slot reps, but perhaps Juju's every other day injuries will keep his starting look, safe for now.

John Conner - quickly showing elusiveness combined with power. This fan favorite is giving fans something to cheer about on the field, as he already had off the field covered. I notice he wasn't thrown at, three drops in a previous game will do that tooya.

Shazier - small body of work, but it was nice to see him bait and catch. Welcome back....

Watson -continues to shine in limited opportunities. Croissant is higher up the depth chart, but it is a depth chart I think needs adjusting.

Martavis Bryant His stats from the game will not blow you away, but I continue to see him shake the rust off. Perhaps early in the season he will need to still shake a little of, like sands though the hour glass

Juju Went down early and came back in showing that Bolden type route running toughness. Too early to tell if he will be the receiver Bolden was, but somewhat of wishful thinking here.

Big Ben Not going to blame him for that early turnover, Big Al would get that. But I think we will see the same ol BIg Ben come game 1. And I like that just fine.

Sutton and Hilton kind of honorable mention here. As they made a few plays against second tier competition. Enough of body of work to make the roster for both IMO. But not enough to crown them starter ready. Still we have to like what we see from both, although Sutton's body of work is much shorter. The arrow is pointing up obviously.

Grimble Few good plays out there. Just enough to where you stick over perhaps a blocking TE.

the Bad

Holba

We didn't hear Holba's name called in a negative way this preseason up until last night. A missed extra point was due to his mishandling of the snap, nothing to be alarmed about. As easily fixable. lol 6th round pick.

WR's Coates, Hamilton, and Hunter none are shining, perhaps two make it on potential. Which might leave Hamilton like dust in the wind.

Jesse James too many drops this camp Jesse. C'mon Outlaw let's not get in the habit of shooting blanks on the football field.

The Ugly

Robert Golden Shoddy tackling, makes me miss Mitchell. Who speaking of, needs to find his *** back from injury quickly. Robert's not so Golden play makes me hope someone hop skip and jumps over him on the depth chart.

Penalties, overall secondary play, shaky WR play, anddddd more often than not being slow out of the gates play. Which can partially be contributed to coaching. And partially contributed to preseason rust, and the vets wanting to go into the season injury free.

My two and a half cents:

Too early to get a feel on the Sensabaugh VS Cockrell competition. One would think Sens is starting to gain a edge-but I suspect the first few games of the season will sort this out-Braugh. Hopefully for the better, and not being a case of two bones two duds.

I still think this team needs a corner and a FS. I am hoping those final cuts brings one if not both. Sometimes you can hope in one hand and **** in the other. Steelers remind me of this yearly.

In the grand scheme the Steelers need to find answers with urgency, if you want to put yourself in a leading playoff position in regards to seeding. Playoff playoffs playoffs? You need to win early and not fold against lesser competition. Which coincidentally is what the schedule views like in the first month of play. To be the best you have to beat the best (that comes later in the season). But in the Steelers case to be the best also entails beating the worst.

Obviously

I like the 2-4 round picks, JuJu, Sutton and Conner. They did a nice job I think getting those guys.

I think Watt is to be determined. Offenses understand what the Steelers do defensively, and they are just getting rid of the ball quick. I don't know if Lawrence Taylor could get sacks as quick as the QBs get rid of it on occasion against this defense. If the Steelers could ever play man and hold coverage just a little longer, we might get a real feel for what Watt and Dupree can do. I wonder of some of the issue with the DBs is more schematic than talent. Teams just know what they are doing. Heck, it hasn't changed much really since 1992.

I agree that I think they are overselling the WR position. Brown is great, Rogers is going to be good, and I like JuJu, Bryant? We'll see. I'd like to see him on some slants and deeper posts. You just don't. Why? Coates and the rest are just guys.

I think with Watt you see potential and will get returns early in coverage and run defense. Due to his intangibles and high motor.

His pass rush will be hit and miss. Perhaps more miss early. I think reps and a little more weight room will bring later results.

Would definitely rather see Dangerfield over Golden as the backup at safety and special teams. He is definitely playing over Golden depth chart wise. He lost some weight, and it's improved his speed.

The ugly- despite having literally everything but Bell at their disposal I was left feeling like had that been a regular season game they could have lost to that schleprock team with their backup qb. Why? Ben has won. Ben has won everything in this league. But has put up some flashy yardage with Todd only to kick field goals inside the 20s. I just dont think the route concepts that get them there work when the windows close. I think Todd really overthinks **** a lot like many playcallers tend to do. They will be expecting that so I have to do this. No they are expecting it because they cant stop it.

Nice to see the top four picks active and making positive plays throughout the preseason. We have not seen that in a long time. However, I do have some big concerns with JuJu getting hurt every other time he touches the ball.

I agree in a sense. There isn't a lot of top talent, but they have a lot of guys who can stick on a roster as a No. 4 or 5.

I'm very close to the point where I'd like to see a position coach who can actually develop OLBs. I don't think we've seen a single young player under Porter live up to their potential. Look at what Munchak did will the high draft picks when he arrived and Mann with the receivers.

This

Which I said off and on last year.

For how much I love me some Lake and Peezy, these two positions have under-performed. And need to improve to not be the road block in having a nice new shiny trophy to go with a lead leading six already in place.

Slash regarding the outlaw, I couldn't watch much due to ****** bandwith but I did see a one handed catch from him that was a thing of beauty

to be fair the drop was more of a good play from the defender in that Colt game. Although would have been nice to have seen him muscle it down.

well AB and Bryant Are Top talent, Rogers and JuJu would be #3 in many teams without much effort.

definitely, as Dangerfield is more of a SS, Davis could move to Mitchell spot if still injured and Dangerfield could start at SS. Leaving Golden to ST and quarters D only

Unless I'm missing something, the one handed catch was made by Grimble, not James I think.

who was responsible for both Ben's sacks?

who was responsible for both Ben's sacks?

Looked to me like it was a scheme although Villanueva almost got out there from a tight set on the first one, so I could be wrong, Al might have been sleepin'

The second one was an overload for sure and that would be on Ben to shift a TE or RB to cover the extra blitzer. He came in free while Al was inside.

options for secondary
-upgrade dangerfield to primary back up S
- SIGN REVIS
- Trade for a actual CB that can help like Joe Haden send a 3rd and 6th

How about Coates and Cockrell for Haden?

The defense stunk no matter where you looked. They got *** raped by Indy's back-ups. Couldn't stop the run or pass. Pathetic.

Cut Davis and Toussaint and bump up Connor and Watson.

I'd cut Coates and keep DHB

I don't understand all the clamoring for Revis. The guy is 2 years past washed up. Why not just re-sign Mel Blount while we're at it? Mel would probably be about as effective.

no, it was a pass behind his route running and he had to adjust and make the catch with one hand
